Route description
Route 30 is the second Johto route, and the route the player must make a trek down to meet Professor Oak and get the Pokédex at Mr. Pokémon's house. Mr. Pokémon also gives the player an egg to take to Professor Elm, which the player will eventually get back. The western branch of the route is impassible until after the player has defeated his/her rival back in New Bark Town. Once this is complete, the player may continue northward towards Dark Cave, and then go westward onto Route 31.

- Mystery Egg: Given by Mr. Pokémon in his house at the north end of the east branch.
- Pokédex: Given by Prof. Oak in Mr. Pokémon's house.
- Berry: Given by a man in the house near the branch in the path.
