Poison Sting (Japanese: どくばり Poison Needle) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.
Effect
Generation I
Poison Sting inflicts damage and has a 19.9% chance of poisoning the target. Poison Sting cannot poison the target if it has a Substitute, already has a major status ailment, or is a Poison-type.
Generation II and on
Same as Generation I with a 20% chance of poisoning all Pokémon except Poison-types and Template:Type2s.

Pokémon
Ekans and Arbok. Ekans and Arbok open their mouth and multiple white or purple darts are shot at the opponent in rapid succession.
- Used by Jessie's Ekans and Arbok from Pokémon Emergency! to A Poached Ego!.
Croagunk. Croagunk opens its mouth and purple darts are shot at the opponent.
- Used by Brock's Croagunk from Gymbaliar to present.
Drapion. Same as above.
- Used by the J's Drapion in Mutiny in the Bounty!.
Weedle and Beedrill. It stabs the foe with it's body stinger.
- Used by a wild Weedle and several Beedrill in Challenge of the Samurai
Dustox. Purple needles shoots out of its mouth.
- Used by Jessie's Dustox from ??? to Crossing Paths.
Nidoran♂. It opens its mouth and purple darts are shot at the opponent.
- Used by a wild one in DP109.
