Despite being a non-legendary, gendered species, Nidoqueen are unable to breed.
Unlike her previous evolutions, Nidoqueen's shiny form is not the same color as her male counterpart's normal color.
Indeed, Nidoqueen is the only Nidoran evolutionary family member whose alternate coloration is not matched by their counterpart's normal coloration.
Nidoqueen and her male counterpart Nidoking share the same species name with Rhydon and Rhyperior. They are all known as Drill Pokémon.
Along with Nidoking, no other Pokémon has the same typecombination as Nidoqueen.
Though the Generation II and Generation III sprites of Nidoqueen have visible teeth, no other official artwork includes them.
Origin
It shares traits of rhinoceroses, gorillas, rabbits and porcupines. It's also based on a kaiju, Baragon
Name origin
Nidoqueen's name may be based on the word needle. It may also be based on cnidocyte, a type of venomous cell responsible for the stings delivered by stinging animals, most notably, by jellyfish. Alternatively, it may be based on 二 ni, two, or 二度 nido, two times/two degrees, referring to there being two distinct evolutionary lines using the name with similar names and traits. The second part of its name is simply queen, referring to its feminine gender.
