Vaporeon (Japanese: シャワーズ Showers) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Eevee via Water Stone.
Biology
Physiology
Vaporeon is the result of an Eevee's exposure to the radiation of a Water Stone. Vaporeon is a composite creature sharing physical traits of dogs, cats, and fish. Vaporeon's body is light-blue and has a white collar. Vaporeon has yellow ears made of webbing and has a fin on its head resembling its ears. Vaporeon has blue ridges that run down the length of its spine and on to its tail-fin. Vaporeon's molecular structure is close to water, and its body glitters when sunlight hits at certain angles because of it.
Because it's a fully evolved Pokémon, it can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Vaporeon are highly adapted to aquatic life. Unlike its pre-evolution, it has the ability to breathe underwater. As stated previously, they have a unique molecular structure. They have the ability to "melt" into a body of water and disappear completely from view. They can also manipulate water molecules, giving them the ability to learn Template:Type2 attacks their previous evolutions could not.
Vaporeon also have the ability to walk on water.
Behavior
Vaporeon are very difficult to observe in the wild, as they are somewhat uncommon. When they are in the water, they are virtually impossible to see. While they are much easier to see while they are resting onshore, they possess the ability to rearrange themselves on a molecular level, causing themselves to "melt" into the water. It is likely that many mermaid stories were spawned by Vaporeon sightings, as their tails resemble those of mermaids.
Habitat
Vaporeon are always found close to water, and prefer large, clean lakes.
Diet

In the anime
Vaporeon first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers, under the ownership of Rainer.
Ash battled against a Vaporeon in the Pokémon League Entrance Exam.
In Mewtwo Strikes Back, a Vaporeon owned by Fergus was one of the Pokémon that were captured and cloned by Mewtwo. The Vaporeon clone is seen again in Mewtwo Returns.
Vaporeon was also seen under the ownership of one the Kimono Sisters in Trouble's Brewing and Espeon Not Included.
An old woman named Galea owned a Vaporeon in On Olden Pond.
Vaporeon made a small cameo in the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior together with an Eevee and the other six Eeveelutions.
In the manga
Pokémon Special
Red temporarily controlled a Vaporeon, which was actually his Eevee switching between its evolved forms. It soon evolved into an Espeon, which disallowed any further switching.

Trivia
- Vaporeon is tied with Umbreon and Leafeon for tallest Eevee evolution.
- It is also the heaviest Eevee evolution.
- Both these facts make it the largest Eeveelution.
- Vaporeon has the highest HP base stat of the Eeveelutions.
- Vaporeon is the only Template:Type2 that appears in field section of Pal Park.
- Vaporeon's Pokémon Red and Green sprites show a fin running down the full length of its back and fins on the back of its legs. These do not appear in later games.
- The Generation I backsprites also show the back of its ears to be black, as opposed to the yellow-ridged ears in later games.
- Despite being described as the "Bubble Jet Pokémon", Vaporeon can not learn Bubble or BubbleBeam.
- Vaporeon is the only Eeveelution that does not share any weakness with another.
Origin
It has traits of foxes, cats and a number of aquatic mammals.
Name origin
Vaporeon's name is derived from vapor. Its Japanese name probably refers to rain showers. The -eon suffix, common to all Eevee evolutions comes from Eevee's prototype English name. The French and German names are based off of the word aqua.
