Concern

Should we have the trainers on the Route pages have more information like giving the Pokémon the moves they use? Or would it be bad? Pros:

  • Gives people more information
  • Completes the Route more

Cons:

  • Tables slow the server
  • Makes Bulbapedia more like a guide.

Should I find the moves of the Pokémon and such or leave it be? Pyles 19:00, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

No, there's no need for every Trainer in every article that includes Trainers to have the moves known by their Pokémon. The major Trainers only should have that displayed, since they're like boss battles. You don't include information on every attack from the little enemies in other games every place they appear, and so likewise, you don't for the non-major Trainers. Rivals, Gym Leaders, Elite Four, Frontier Brains, Champions, and evil team major members get that. Basically, any Trainer that has a battle and overworld sprite specific to themselves. TTEchidna 01:04, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
So it should stay as it is? Pyles 19:17, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, that's what he said... In a very long and detailed way ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me - 19:20, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I got side-tracked through all the complex sentences. By the way, Kogoro I have access to Wi-Fi, so all I have to do is get a team together and we can battle. Pyles 11:39, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Wi-Fi

Do you have Wi-fi?--Akaila 19:04, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

If I didn't have Wi-Fi, I'd have no Friend Codes. TTEchidna 01:04, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Hmm...

So for the new party templates, which should we use for Silver? I’m probably gonna use the SoulSilver like his old templates are silver, but I want your opinion on it. They currently, without the updated sprites and everything, look like this:

Template:PartyHeaderTemplate:PartyBody21 Template:PartyFooter

Template:PartyHeaderTemplate:PartyBody21 Template:PartyFooter

I’m currently working with them to see what they would all look like. I'll also need to know what color should be used for the gym leaders and E4. R.A. Hunter Blade 20:47, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Use... plain Silver color. Gym and Elite use their type color. Blue uses Blue color. And if they name him as Green in the English versions, Green color. TTEchidna 22:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Alright. I'll eventually get them all ready for the updates. R.A. Hunter Blade 01:41, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Infobox hack requests

I know that I'm asking for updates on two infoboxes for a Pokémon product that has just been discontinued, but trust me, I know you wouldn't intentionally leave an infobox behind in getting update treatment. The infoboxes in question are {{TFG Figure Infobox}} and {{TFG Card Infobox}}. I tried hacking them into the newer style myself, but found it too complicated. Since you're the master template hacker, is it too difficult for you to handle? Thanks. --Shiningpikablu252 23:46, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. TTEchidna 00:12, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Nuva-kal has made a possible idea at User:Nuva-kal/TFGInfobox, if you would like to implement that instead of making a new one. MaverickNate 14:09, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Looks good. I'll modify that one then. TTEchidna 19:37, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Moves in the anime

Are any if you people working on the "moves in the anime" section for all the moves, because on some pages, there's a new template, but on others, it's the old one. I would, but I don't know the format...

Wait, oops, didn't sign. Leafstorm151 21:02, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

It's slowly getting done, just like I'm very slowly doing the party templates for some characters. And you have to remember how many moves there are. It's a bit harder than you think to get some of that stuff up there... R.A. Hunter Blade 00:03, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Not justhow many moves, but how many anime episodes, too. Next announced one is the 600th! TTEchidna 02:02, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Ok, just wanted to make sure it was being done.Leafstorm151 21:28, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry, we're getting to it. TTEchidna 21:59, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Why is my Move button activated?

Why is the move button activated on my account? I thought it was suppose to be deactivated since I'm not a mod. Kind of like how if a page is protected the edit this page and + buttons are not activated. Yami 16:49, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Normal members can move pages. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 16:53, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
We trust normal members to not be stupid when it comes to moving pages. That trust has been broken at times, though... TTEchidna 19:36, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Editing

So I know that we have limits for how much we can edit userpages and subpages, so I've tried to keep my edits low in my box of sand. What I want to know is:

  • How much, since I'm readying the templates for HGSS, I can edit it per day. I've kept it below the borderline of 4 so far, but I've needed to get off and on frequently, and I'm trying to get these done ASAP so I have time to do the party templates for other pages.
  • Would it be possible for me to make as many edits as I needed to if I move the templates to a specific page for only them?
  • Could you eventually lock all of the GenII Kanto and the Johto gym leaders' pages, along with Silver's and the E4/Lance's pages so that people don't try to add crappy templates and mess up the coding already there?

R.A. Hunter Blade 03:55, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

If it's a sandbox page, go for it but don't be ridiculous about it. Intended mainspace templates can be as many edits as you want. TTEchidna 04:16, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Alright. And don't worry. I won't. R.A. Hunter Blade 14:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

templates

hy you. are you good at wiki syntax for templates? on pokewiki i have build a similar template to your Type effectiveness... but i can only use 5 or less of this on one page.. could you look to optimate it? --Hanmac 09:24, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Where would you need to use five of them on the page? TTEchidna 01:53, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Guess Who

ok first go to my talkpage for my full sorriness. Second how do you get your signature like that, where do you put in the coding? and Finally, where do you create usetags? totoRulz'''[[User:Totojo158|<span style="color:#DAA520">''toto''</span>]][[User talk:Totojo158|<span style="color:#C0C0C0">Rulz</span>]]''' 20:20, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Make sure you have the raw signatures box checked off. R.A. Hunter Blade 01:23, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Not just that, you gotta not use crappy HTML in it. TTEchidna 01:25, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

I need help

Do you know of an image of the RPGwiki logo?alec9 * - * 04:22, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Here ya go. TTEchidna 04:58, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Berry Locations

A looooong time back (December, 2007) you made a large group of edits to different pages about berries. You did a lot of reformatting, organized it more, and added some new info. Among the places to obtain the berries (under Gen. III) you put the pickup ability for a lot - if not all - of them. You put Emerald and FR/LG for a lot. However, there are absolutely no berries that can obtained this way in Emerald; you must have been confused. Just wanted to let you know about this little mistake. Timeroot TalkContribs] 00:09, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Being that it's so long ago... I say meh to reminding me of it. TTEchidna 01:52, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

PW-Box

yes it looks like ... but

  1. the notes in the PW-box are automatic from the type and the ability.
  2. you need no newfire or oldghost entry because it will calc automaticly
  3. the same as the ic in the rows

look: de:Vorlage:Typ_effizienz ... so you only need the type and not the values for fire, water, gras, etc ---Hanmac 10:08, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

But that's the point: either you enter stuff manually or the amount of calculations is too much for the server and thus the template crashes. TTEchidna 19:34, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
it is possible to do both? i dont get parameters i should calc, i get parameter, i "dont" calc. ? --Hanmac 19:58, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
What you seem to want to do is use the types and abilities entered into the template to calculate the type effectiveness. That's all good for most Pokémon, but since Arceus uses the template 17 times, it's inefficient. What mine does is autocalculates based on the effectiveness we have. TTEchidna 20:01, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
and i mean if the template it can both .... or need I a second template?--Hanmac 20:18, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Calc + manual = bad. Just use the manual method of doing it. TTEchidna 20:20, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

New templates?

Care if I make templates for Trainer lists on Trainer class pages (such as Cool Trainer or Bug Catcher)? In my opinion the current lists look very ugly, and I want to make them better. :] UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 11:14, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

it looks nice, but what will you do if a trainer have a male and a female form?
what do you think about de:Ass-Trainer_(Trainerklasse) --Hanmac

He probably means the list of locations where they can be found. Kevzo8 11:48, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I meant the location list. I chose the examples badly as it seems that the Cool Trainer page doesn't have such a list at all. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 11:56, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Ahhhh... I see.--Clarky13 12:13, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Anime dex entries

It's ok to start adding anime dex entries from Theryguy512's project into Pokémon articles? (He confirmed, but asked me to confirm with you also.) - Rikki Kitsuneリッキ 13:30, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

As long as you italicize the Advanced Generation series and Diamond & Pearl series. AND MAKE SURE TO USE AN & FOR THE DP SERIES. TTEchidna 19:21, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Synopses

Should episode synopses be in present or past tense? I've seen both, and I think they should all be one way or the other. --Galladeon 07:34, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Present tense, It's a sypnosis on a day on which Ash and his friend were present.--ForceFire 07:43, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
But it happened in the past. Do we tell stories in present tense? Usually not. --Galladeon 08:04, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Past tense that crap. Plz. TTEchidna 08:20, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I've created a new template in my sandbox for this. Should I make it official? --ルレ 08:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Eh. Really you could change it yourself... TTEchidna 08:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
In my opinion the synopses sound more natural when they're in present tense. I also think that most synopses already written are in present tense, so if they'd be converted, it would take a long time. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 10:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Whichever flows better. If it works in the present tense, work it. TTEchidna 18:38, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Can't they be in either tense, just that it should be consistent? MaverickNate 01:21, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Leaf?

When did Nintendo officially state that Leaf is loosely based on Blue? How do you know that she isn't merely based on the unused female player character for FRLG? - Spideym 16:20, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Because she is the used player character of FRLG. As for being based on the unused female from RGBY, that's who Blue herself is based on. Since the unused girl didn't have a name, Blue's the closest we've got, especially considering that promo art Sugimori did that was reused by Special... TTEchidna 18:37, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Oops. Meant to write "How do you know that she isn't merely based on the unused female player character for RGBY?".
But if the Blue part in the Soul article refers to the unused girl for RG, then why does it link to Pokémon Special's Blue? - Spideym 20:51, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Firstly, because there is no girl named Blue in Gen I. Blue is the rival. Special Blue has the design of the girl so she's the best to link to. TTEchidna 21:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Game character naming policy

I understand the naming issues with chracters (across game, anime and manga etc.) and was writting up a local list myself to consolidate the links between each for quicker reference.

I realised there wasn't really a set explanation of a consistant method for game character naming used on Bulbapedia. I also checked for a policy on this and was suprised to not see one.

Looking over the talk pages, i see mention of different methods such as default names and/or hidden data trainers that have been used to name the game characters over the generations. This seems rather inconsistant and without much public explanation for review and confirmation.

I'm unsure as to where a specific default name is obtained, especially in cases where the default name is not in the list of default names on the game (namely brendan, may, lucas and dawn). It was hinted it was by not entering a name (for player/rival), but the player list picks one at random, where as the rival is the first name on the list. Both lists differ by version though, so it's not possible to use those lists for naming of the characters (Tested with Fire Red only tbh). The lack of recording these hidden default names in the articles makes the names seem like unfoudned claimes and lacking citation.

I propose these names be recorded with some note on how they're obtained in the MoS or something. It would be a great help and any explanation is appericiated. --Zeal T / C 02:16, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Most of it can be checked on the specific talk pages. We shouldn't need to put an explanation on every danged article about where we got the names, most especially since they're well known. The main problem that comes up is when fans come up with "LOL WHY LEEF WHY NOT GREEN *move move move*" No one just accepts that despite being a fansite we do check stuff over before naming things. TTEchidna 03:51, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
The problem is in most cases the information isn't on the talk pages. I'm not asking for an explanation on every page, just an explanation in the MoS or policies.
You say they're well known, when the only evidence i see for that is the bulbapedia articles themselves who have made them well known. I'm not trying to suggest you're putting up false information either, but i am saying that the methods you've chosen for naming appear to be arbitrary without any evidence to show how the names are chosen (as well as the the differing methods).
The nature of a wiki generally doesn't allow something like that, so i'm shocked this is considered an exception. It makes it near impossible to use your naming in any legitmate work without the explanations as there's no way to confirm the research, which is where i'm having trouble.
If anything Leaf is the one i find easiest to believe, as it's roughly explained. It's pretty much all the others i'm having issues with.
I can only guess it started out with the first name on the default list for players from first version (Red, Gold) is chosen for the male player character and the same for the rival list (as it's always the opposite), resulting the the third always the female, which seems fitting for back then. But starting with RSE, the names you've chosen aren't even in the default name lists and without explanation, so those names are seemingly pulled out of thin air without explanation or a reference to where they're from.
I hope you can understand my dilema. :/ --Zeal T / C 14:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
I might be wrong, but I'd remember that the opposite player's name (May, Brendan, Lucas, Dawn) is mentioned in the game's conversations when playing with the opposite gender character. Dawn is mentioned at least in Pt when playing as Lucas. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 15:10, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, that's exactly the sort of thing i was looking for, will check up as soon a i find where i put ruby :S --Zeal T / C 15:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. Most are obvious. You could similarly say that the name Brock is pulled outta nowhere for our buddy with the Croagunk, but it's in the games. His name's Brock. People address him as that. The anime, people address him as that. That's where Brendan, May, Lucas, and Dawn come from. That's their official game names. TTEchidna 19:06, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Not "exactly". He's not a character with a customisable name. The "official" game names are nothing more than fans using various methods to determine what they think their intended names are until an official one is given elsewhere (and for my purposes, i need to seperate incarnation where they are different). The fact that a set name actually being given is a rarity for these characters is why when names are actually given, it should be noted as such. The anime characters are not even the same, so no point trying to use that as a source even if the given names do end up matching.
It would seem you're still not getting the fact that "because we say so" is not good enough. It's expected of an encyclopedic wiki to provide references and explanation for others to refer to and research themselves. When something is arbitrary but needs to be set for the purpose of the wiki (fan info due to lack of official), that usually falls into the realm of policy to set the precedent for people to follow and/or make note of the variation. It's something i've delt with extensively on WoWWiki, yet Bulbapedia does nethier right now. If you feel that's not the job of the wiki, then nevermind, as i must be banging my head against the wall.
Thanks again for the help Ultimate Sephiroth. Confirmed for Brendan and May (i wish the latest gen didn't have the new game protection :/) and has set me on the path to try and decipher bulbapedia's methods so i can better choose my own. --Zeal T / C 19:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Red (game) is named as such during Gold/Silver as is Blue (game). Brendan (game) and May (game) are named as such if you choose the opposite gender as are Dawn (game) and Lucas (game). The only ones without truly official names are Leaf (game), Gold (game), Silver (game), Kris (game), Pearl (game) and Soul (game).--MisterE13 19:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

And even then, all of the "unofficial" names, are either the first choice when you get to pick, or they're some of the top ones. R.A. Hunter Blade 20:49, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Leafypoo's official. Her name's on a beta Trainer in FRLG. TTEchidna 03:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Trozei table?

Hi, do we have a Pokémon Trozei table? I need one to put all the Pokémon that are located in the Secret Storage. Thanks. -MasterKenobi 03:26, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

If not, we just need one with Pokémon name, Pokémon Trozei image, and rarity.--MasterKenobi 03:34, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Something like this? Template:TrozeiPKMN--MisterE13 23:18, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Usernames

I was wondering if I could create a few other accounts with usernames by which I am popularly known on other wikis/Pokémon sites? Not for use in editing, but to minimize the chance of being impersonated. The reason I’m asking beforehand is because I saw a rash of account creation by vandals a week or so back and I don’t want to be accused of attempting sockpuppetry. If allowed to create them, I have no intention of editing from the other accounts.
Also, I was thinking of outright changing my username, and I’m told that the way to do so is by asking you... I haven’t picked yet, but I wanted to check and see if this is indeed the proper procedure? --LaprasBoi 21:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Eh, I'd say bad idea to make more accounts to prevent impersonation... but yeah you can change it just by asking. TTEchidna 02:22, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Well alright... I’ll go with LaprasBoi, then. Thanks. --LaprasBoi 05:13, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again. And, on the sig thing, I was just waiting for it to link the new name. --LaprasBoi 16:32, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Just a thought...

Should we add breeding arrows in evoboxes showing that breeding a Nidoran♀ can make a Nidoran♂ egg among other things. I think it sould also hold true for the male Nidos (with a Ditto) and Volbeat/Illumise. Wih your go-ahead I could probably whip some up tonight.--MisterE13 21:17, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

No. Bad idea. TTEchidna 02:21, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh well. In other news, have you noticed Template:Forme info, I've put it in just about everywhere (just gotta do Weather Ball) then I'll set up Arceus in the ol' Sandbox for the last one. For the colors, I've just been putting the primary type of the Pokémon/move but I was wondering if I should put secondary types there or if, in some cases where the type doesn't quite match the form (such as Burmy or Shellos), I was wondering if it should be other colors? - unsigned comment from MisterE13 (talkcontribs)
Second types are in now.--MisterE13 00:20, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
It's kinda on the big side. *shrug* Don't like it so much... TTEchidna 00:35, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Suggestions? Or do we just keep this for now?--MisterE13 01:21, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Shrink it. PLEASE. And make it not one of those notices. Just put it in the article's opening. It really only needs to be blatantly pointed out for stuff that changes types... TTEchidna 01:39, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I thought people liked it and it kind of screams "Look at me before posting 'WY THER NO ALTRD FRM ART?' yet again" I suppose we could get rid of them if you really don't like them. Or perhaps wikiforum?--MisterE13 02:46, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, a big notice like that would be good on the talk page of the Pokémon in question... but on the page itself, kinda eh. TTEchidna 03:11, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Then again, we all know how well people look at certain notices no matter haw big, colourful and blocky they may be.--MisterE13 15:13, 26 June 2009 (UTC) They're all on talk pages now (except for Castform). If you ever change your mind about ol' Casty, I requested weather magic words on MediaWiki (with a nice wikipedia-involved story) and was denied. They did, however say that certain extensions can be used (that AccuWeather thing seems not bad). In any case, I don't know anything about the inner workings of wikis but I figured this should be brought to your attention.--MisterE13 02:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, Castform'd be better to stay as it is. But one day, undoubtedly there'll be a way. Just like there will be weather based on where you live in the games, eventually. TTEchidna 02:37, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Abomasnow wouldn't be very popular near the equator then would it? The only game where weather should reflect the real world should be Animal Crossing.--MisterE13 18:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Abomasnow turns the weather cold when it appears in battle anyway, though, so that's kinda moot. It's actually likely be chosen especially by Ice-type Trainers who live near the Equator. TTEchidna 02:07, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I've noticed we've been using more and more tables denoting gender (like list of Pokémon with gender differences) should we make color templates for the "male" and "female" colours?--MisterE13 02:47, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Those colors already do exist. I've been meaning to bring this up about Castform. I really think we should change it. Just because one person has four seasons, doesn't mean everyone does. We may have Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter...but many places in the world only have two seasons: Rainy and Dry. Isn't it a little odd when we have Normal and Snow-cloud in the middle of he Rainy season, and Sunny and Rainy in the middle of the Dry season? Furthermore, the north and south hemispheres have the seasons at different times. Why do we have Snow-cloud in the middle of Summer, Rainy in Fall, Normal in spring, and Sunny in Winter? Isn't that wrong? They need to be based on some sort of universal time standard, like every hour. That is what it really should be to actually represent what the world actually does, not a biased, bigoted, representation on a tiny percentage of the world. MaverickNate 02:58, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't talking about Castform anymore Nate, I just tend to start a single topic on most every one of TTE's archives and bring up stuff in the same one as I think of it. Now if you look at the page I linked to, the title sections have "male" and "female" sections which are coloured a shade of blue and red respectively. As I've noticed that these colours are used to denote the genders in other pages, I was suggesting the templatization of these colours.--MisterE13 03:08, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
As I said, they are already templated. TC already did it in his en-masse, or it on the to-do list. I was bringing up a point where you and TTE and everyone else would see, because I think it is wrong and needs to be hourly. Just because no one spoke up back then, doesn't mean it should stay that way. It's easy enough to change, and it should be. MaverickNate 03:38, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Male color and female color? We have those?! Since when?! TTEchidna 04:23, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
and , guess we never separated the colors. Anyway, about Castform.... MaverickNate 04:35, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Do so then, and as for Castform, maybe eventually when the wiki gets a weather forecast extension thing it can read, but not for a while. TTEchidna 04:53, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Lots of tables use: {{Male}} and
{{Female}} use:

So, which ones?--MisterE13 03:36, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Male and female colors of course. The male color could be a lighter blue though. TTEchidna 04:15, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

I keep getting this error...

I keep getting this error and I didn't know who to come too, it's not... super bad, but it's incredibly annoying. Every time I try too edit, it comes up with a message saying "Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If it still does not work, try logging out and logging back in.", now this wouldn't bother me, if it only came up once, but I have too keep clicking the submit button over and over and over... usually for over five or six times until the edit submits. I was wondering what it was about, and is there anyway anyone can stop this from coming up...? Oh and also, the message also came up as I was trying to post this on your talk page... *sighs* ~~Takoto - サソデイ 20:59, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it does that for me too. We're working on it, but all you can do to remedy is to keep hitting Save. TTEchidna 21:09, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Ah right, well, I'm kind glad it's not just me getting it. I hope it gets sorted out soon :c ~~Takoto - サソデイ 21:17, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, so do I. TTEchidna 22:00, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
I hope it gets fixed too because I have been making tons of edits recently and it is very annoying. What does it mean anyway? -- Landfish7 22:29, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
It means the website isn't able to retain your session because it can't maintain the connection to your computer. It's why logouts happen sometimes too. TTEchidna 23:19, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
This may help, though you probably knew this, Bulbanews and the Archives are fine. So, maybe look into the Bulbanews/Archives code and see what the problem is. It seems as if the sites are on the same server, due to having the same IP.--Mew* a.k.a. Prmatt11 was here at 00:05, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Question:

Is this in Unown font? TTEchidna 03:07, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

NO. -- MAGNEDETH 03:08, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
There's actually multiple Unown fonts available on the Internet. The nature of the Unown makes it a perfect choice to make into a computer font. That particular font comes from the Generation II era, hence why ! and ? are represented as blanks instead of by their respective Unown forms.
Of course, you'll need to actually have the font in question installed on your computer in order to read the characters in Unown. --Shiningpikablu252 03:14, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
The question is thus, whether installation on the server would force it to be displayed for anyone. TTEchidna 03:25, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Why, there is a way through CSS's @font-face. Try this code somehow:

@font-face { font-family: "Pokemon: Annon"; src: url("http://bmgfiles.webs.com/unown.ttf"); } body { font-family: "Pokemon: Annon", serif } --Mew* a.k.a. Prmatt11 was here at 01:35, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Now that's awesome. Who made that in-game text box thing, because I have something interesting to tell about it... TTEchidna 20:21, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
You mean this: Template:Sign? that was S1tHSL4y3r.--MisterE13 16:36, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah that. I've found the RS text font, so I could technically implement it... TTEchidna 17:33, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon redirects

Should Pokémon redirects (like Remoraid) be changed to have TCG groups on them as have the redirect pages like Eevee? It would help when searching for a specific Pokémon's card. --ルレ 06:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

NO. The TCG subset is only for Pokémon disambigs which already have something. This was decided some time back, because otherwise we'd end up with 493 disambigs for stuff that has MAYBE one or two cards and which are linked on the Pokémon's page already. TTEchidna 06:59, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

How long is this going to go on?

I keep getting logged out when I make edits. I thought that was fixed back in May, when the site underwent a maintenance. --αワニノコ 20:39, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Does he mean when you make an edit and it says "lost session data" etc. etc. Because it doesnt log me out when I make an edit. -- Landfish7 21:52, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't know. Sometimes it does the "lost session data" thing, rarely it'll log you out completely. It seems the server's not detecting its own cookies. TTEchidna 00:12, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
It's not the "lost session data" thing that's bugging me. It logs me out completely half the time I'm editing. WHICH HAPPENED TO ME JUST NOW. --αワニノコ 00:34, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Setlistentry Template

I began to implement your new template onto the expansion pages. Jungle, Fossil and Base 2 have already been done. It is however, going to take a long time to update all of the tables for every set, and with the current layout of the template, is going to cause an issue with Japanese sets with numbers and promotional sets. Is there any way to put the code for the updated look around the existing tables? ~~nuva-kal 09:24, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

There is... it'd be in the header. TTEchidna 02:06, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Could you create an example of how you would go about doing it - every time I try, it makes a garbled mess of the table. ~~nuva-kal 10:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Eh, well, actually, it'd probably be better for there to just be separate templates that do almost the same but have different spacing and can accept the numbers... sorta like we have both {{mlentry4}} and {{mtentry4}}. Both do more or less the same thing, but there's different spacing to include other stuff. I'll go about making a different numberscheme one later on for what we need, if you can tell me exactly what we do need. TTEchidna 17:27, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Lookout Station Name Change

TTE, I think that lookout station should be changed to Guardhouse as that is what it is referred to as on several pages. I was told by another mod that there must be a consensus. Also some more chat about this here -MasterKenobi 18:37, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Redirect, move the page, whatever. Just because our pages refer to it as such, though... we should make sure what it's called in-game... TTEchidna 20:39, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I know just because it is referred to as such doesn't mean that is actually the name. I am guessing it must just be a fanon term as none of the "lookout stations" are actually named. I checked in Ruby, FireRed, and Pearl. So unless they are name in Gen I or Gen II, I am doubtful. –MasterKenobi 20:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
So they aren't named as such in dialog? Either way? Well, I say redirect for now... make sure you go to the second floors, though... TTEchidna 22:25, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Birds

Do you agree with MAGNEDETH? I generally defer to whatever admins are present rather than trying to drag others into disagreements, but this seems particularly egregious and I appreciate your level head and reason on most issues, even though we certainly disagree at times. It seems absolutely ludicrous to have an article several of the exact same things 3 times over with only minor differences, with even the more different paragraphs being the same story told from different angles. --LaprasBoi 09:36, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Eh, doesn't seem like it's that repetitive. TTEchidna 09:40, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Erm. Comparison of the text to illustrate my point( I apologize for the length of this and how long it took to reply, I was trying to figure out how to put it in a show/hide box of some sort, but coding is definitely not my strong suit):
  • Articuno appeared in the second feature length Pokémon movie, The Power of One. Its voice actress in both Japanese and English is 愛河里花子 Rikako Aikawa.
  • Zapdos appeared in the second feature length Pokémon movie, The Power of One. Its voice actor in both Japanese and English is 小西克幸 Katsuyuki Konishi.
  • Moltres appeared in the second feature length Pokémon movie, The Power of One. Its voice actress in both Japanese and English is 愛河里花子 Rikako Aikawa.
  • Articuno, as depicted in an ancient legend, is the titan of ice. Lawrence III was trying to capture the three legendary birds to bring out Lugia.
  • Zapdos, as depicted in an ancient legend, is the titan of lightning. Lawrence III was trying to capture the three legendary birds in order to lure out Lugia.
  • Moltres, as depicted in an ancient legend, is the titan of fire. A couple of minutes later, Lawrence III revealed that that he was trying to capture the three legendary birds to bring out Lugia.
  • [under Zapdos:]After Moltres was captured, Zapdos claimed its island as its own territory
  • [under Moltres:]Zapdos later claimed Moltres' territory as its own since Moltres was gone.
  • [under Articuno:]after Moltres and Zapdos burst out of captivity the three legendary birds started a huge fight.
  • [under Zapdos:]Zapdos was freed by Moltres and the two birds burst out of the palace. In their rage, the three legendary birds began to battle.
  • [under Moltres:]Moltres then freed Zapdos and the two birds burst out of the palace. Moltres, along with Zapdos, started a fight between themselves as well as Articuno, the other legendary bird.
  • When Lugia came up from the sea, Articuno worked with the other birds to put Lugia back where it came from.
  • When Lugia rose up from the sea, Zapdos worked with the other birds to return Lugia back into the sea.
  • When Lugia came up from the sea, Moltres worked with the other birds to put Lugia back where it came from.
  • [under Articuno:]Later, Lugia rose again and none of the birds seemed to notice at first.
  • [under Zapdos:]Later, Lugia rose again out of the water without any of the birds noticing.
  • [under Moltres:]Later, Lugia rose again and none of the birds seemed to notice at first.
  • After that, Articuno kept fighting with the other birds but it returned to its island after Ash and Lugia silenced their fighting.
  • Lugia, with the help of Ash, silenced the battle between the birds and Zapdos returned to its island.
  • After that, Moltres kept fighting with the other birds but it returned to its island after Ash and Lugia silenced their fighting.
...of course, the other reason the comparison is long is because it contains nearly the entire text... you can tell that the pre-merge Moltres article in particular was probably created by copying the pre-merge Articuno article, or vice-versa. --LaprasBoi 10:15, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Should we merge literally every article that starts with X is a Y voiced by Z in Japanese and English? Besides, they're supposed to fit as three. We don't want to amalgamate the thing, just like we don't amalgamate Ash's Charizard with the rest of his Kanto team. TTEchidna 19:55, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Edit Help

You mean this kind of box?
That'd be because you're putting a space before a line. Don't indent. Or you might be improperly calling a template... causing it to glitch... something like that. If you mean on your userpage, that's definitely caused by spacing out lines at the beginning. TTEchidna 04:24, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Question

Why did you deleted the maps of the locations of Johto? Mario136 03:08, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Because. They were of the towns where the locations were, rather than the locations themselves. The entirety of Ecruteak was highlighted for both Tin and Brass Towers. Don't worry. When HGSS comes out, the maps will be done. There's no urgency. TTEchidna 04:27, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh, ok i only was wondering, that map is really cool, you are the best! Mario136 05:08, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

The Johto map is very interesting, but at this point I think it's still too early to implement it into the route pages... Especially considering that there might be two different styles of it, like there was for Sinnoh's map in DPPt and Kanto's in FRLG. The Pokédex distribution map might be a better fit (considering the new Johto map doesn't fit with the previous maps at all, what with those blobs they call cities)... BMGF's server...

There's a problem... it's too busy right now. Will this problem fix itself, or will this continue, like some of the other server problems that have been here as of late? Oh, and I got several 503s before I got the message saying the server was busy. Also, how can I change my username here? --αワニノコ 20:37, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

The forum server seems to be working fine from this end. If you mean the server that Bulbapedia itself is on, yes, that's been running slow as of late, and its 503 errors are due to it trying to pass off your session to the other server (which the forums, Archives, and News are on) and then it doesn't work because you don't have a session on the other server.
Don't worry, we're doing the best we can to fix it, but it has taken longer than expected due to some technical difficulties in the inter-server communications. TTEchidna 20:44, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
OK. The forums server was being slow earlier, maybe because my internet is acting up. So how can I change my username? --αワニノコ 00:39, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
