Plot
This book follows the plot of the anime episode Snow Way Out!
It begins with Ash, Brock, Misty, and Pikachu traveling. Suddenly, they hit a fork in the road. Ash chooses to go over a mountain, much to the dismay of Misty and Brock. Soon it becomes very cold and snowy. Then, they get lost and Misty tells Ash to get them out of there. Ash sends out Pidgeotto and tells it to find a path off of the mountain. It quickly finds one.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket were on the same mountain. James and Meowth were freezing, but Jessie loved the snow. They were going to get in their hot air balloon to try to take Pikachu when their balloon floated away. Then it started to snow.
Meanwhile, a blizzard was starting to make it hard for Ash and his friends to see. Just as they were about to dig a snow cave, a gust of wind knocked them over and Pikachu was carried away. Ash ran after Pikachu and was separated from Brock and Misty. Pikachu was blown off a cliff, but grabbed a rock just in time. Pikachu started to slip, and Ash held out his hand. Just before Pikachu could grab Ash's hand, Pikachu lost its grip and started to fall. It grabbed another rock, but it would never be able to reach Ash from that distance. Then Ash sent out Bulbasaur, who saved Pikachu with Vine Whip. Then they decided to build a snow cave.
Ash started to dig, but the snow was too cold to dig in. Then he sent out Charmander, who used Flamethrower to melt a snow cave for them. Next, he had Bulbasaur and Squirtle pile up snow to block off the wind. He told all his Pokémon to huddle around Charmander, who made his flame even larger and warmer.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket was inside an igloo they had built. All they had for heat was a candle. Suddenly it blew out. Then they all grabbed used matches and started to imagine they were in warm places. Then James and Meowth started to fall asleep, but Jessie woke them up so they wouldn't freeze.
Meanwhile, Charmander was getting tired from making its flame so large for so long. Ash decided to return Charmander and let it rest. He told all his other Pokémon to return too, but all of them, including Charmander, refused to leave Ash alone in the cold, but Ash made them go in their Poké Balls. Then Ash told Pikachu to return too. Pikachu refused and ran to Ash to help keep him warm. Suddenly, the wind broke a hole in the cave. Ash ran to the hole to block the wind. Ash's teeth started to chatter with cold. Then all of Ash's Pokémon come out of their Poké Balls to keep Ash warm.
The next morning was very sunny. They came out of their cave and were met by Brock and Misty who were on a cliff above. Brock's Onix carried Ash and Pikachu up the cliff. Misty tells Ash that they spent the night in a hot spring that Onix had found. They also found Team Rocket's balloon. Then Brock has his Vulpix use Flamethrower to heat up the air in the balloon, and they floated away, not realizing Team Rocket was chasing after them. Then Team Rocket, not watching where they were going, fell into the hot spring.
