Release information
This card was one of three promotional cards released in conjunction with the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest 2022.[1] It was available in a sealed pack with other SWSH Black Star Promos Arcanine and Greninja in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. People wishing to receive a pack were required to submit their details on a dedicated registration website; valid applicants received a one-time use code via email that could be redeemed with an eligible purchase on region-specific Pokémon Center online stores.[2] The registration website opened on December 19, 2022 at 12:00 PM ET and was open to residents of the United States, Canada (except Quebec), and the United Kingdom; it closed on January 12, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET.[3] Codes were distributed in waves to eligible entrants within 16 weeks of entry, which could then be used in conjunction with any purchase worth at least $30 USD (before taxes), $30 CAD (excluding GST), or £30 GBP (inclusive of VAT) from region-specific Pokémon Center online stores.[2] Codes were valid until September 30, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET.[2] In Japan, the three cards were released as a S-P Promotional cards and were similarly distributed together in a sealed pack. Starting December 16, 2022, packs were given to customers who purchased at least ¥2000 worth of eligible products at participating Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores, as well as the Pokémon Center Online. The promotion ran for as long as stocks lasted.[4]
The artwork on this card is by Julie Hang, selected as the First Runner-Up (United States) in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest 2022. The contest logo is present above the Pokédex entry on all prints.
