Category talk:Cards by effect
What exactly determines whether or not a card belongs in one of these listed subcategories?
...are there set guidelines to follow for this specific Category:Cards by effect category listed somewhere? Is the ultimate goal to make these subcategories comprehensive? ...or at least, more so? I wanted to find out if there's a list of guidelines that explain what would make a page qualified to be added/not. If guidelines are out there, I failed to locate them so far and would gratefully accept assistance/a suggestion. Could another user please let me know where to look?
Alternatively, if separate, I also wished to know if there are any reasons to exclude cards from being listed? e.g. let's pretend if a card fits within Category:Cards with no physical release it wouldn't get added because it doesn't have a physical card ...or whatever other reasoning Asking these questions because I looked into two pages and thought of an example that I thought fit within, but didn't see either listed. I wasn't sure if they were intentionally excluded when the pages were created/edited, or were overlooked and it would be acceptable to add in more information, where appropriate. Since I'd prefer to not barge in and cause unintended issues due to a small number of additions I could think of, I thought I'd try reaching out on this Discussion page first.
Two examples I noticed were seemingly missing:
- Dark Alakazam (Team Rocket 1) has an attack named Teleport Blast
- ...which seems appropriate for the Category:Pokémon cards that switch player's Active Pokémon, which is linked on the Category:Cards that switch Active Pokémon category
- I thought it was possibly left out because it's an optional switching of Active Pokémon, but Solgaleo-GX (Sun & Moon 89)'s Ability is also phrased as "you may switch" ...so it was unclear.
- ...which seems appropriate for the Category:Pokémon cards that switch player's Active Pokémon, which is linked on the Category:Cards that switch Active Pokémon category
- Mew (Wizards Promo 8) has an attack named Devolution Beam
- ...which also seems appropriate for the either the Category:Cards that devolve user's Pokémon, which is linked on the Category:Cards that evolve or devolve Pokémon page
- It was already listed on the Category:Cards that devolve opponent's Pokémon page, but it actually can target both your own and your opponent's Pokémon. I wasn't certain if it was fine to add a card's page to both lists.
- ...which also seems appropriate for the either the Category:Cards that devolve user's Pokémon, which is linked on the Category:Cards that evolve or devolve Pokémon page
