Easy-to-Build Lightning Deck (TCG)

The Easy-to-Build Lightning Deck is a predominantly type deck found in the Team Rocket Strategy Guide. The deck is considered easy-to-build as it contains few rare cards, with the aim that a player of any age or skill level could complete it.

Description

Except for Zapdos, all Lightning Pokémon have a Weakness to Fighting Pokémon. But Fighting Pokémon have Weakness to all kinds of Pokémon, so you can't try to cover all those bases. Instead, this deck uses Colorless Pokémon that have Resistance to Fighting.

Use Challenge! to fill your Bench with Magnemites, then use Magnemite's Magnetism attack to do 40 damage. If your opponent accepts the challenge, you can also use Gust of Wind to switch his or her Active Pokémon with the weakest Benched Pokémon. Electabuzz and Zapdos are two powerful Basic Pokémon you can put on your Bench when you play Challenge!, especially if you already have one Magnemite in your hand.

Even if you don't need Dodrio for its Resistance to Fighting, you may find that its Pokémon Power: Retreat Aid comes in hand. If you can get both Dodrios on your Bench, all your Retreat Costs will be less!
