Release information

This card was included in the English EX Hidden Legends expansion with artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, first released in the Japanese Undone Seal expansion. It was later reprinted with new artwork by the same artist as one of the Nintendo Black Star Promos, originating from the Japanese ADV-P Promotional cards. The English print was made available to participants of Stadium Challenges held during July 2004, and features the Stadium Challenge logo in the bottom right corner of the artwork. The Japanese print was available as an insert in Volume 2004 of Pokémon Wonderland, released on December 20, 2003. The original artwork was reprinted again as another ADV-P Promo, available to those who visited the Pokémon Booth at the 19th Next Generation World Hobby Fair, held during January and February 2004. This print features a gold foil "WHF" stamp below the artwork.

Stadium Challenge

The Stadium Challenge-stamped Nintendo Black Star promo version was distributed to participants at 3 separate Stadium Challenge TCG tournaments in July 2004:

  • South Stadium Challenge - Arlington, TX (July 10th 2004)
  • East Coast Stadium Challenge - Rockville, MD (July 17th 2004)
  • West Coast Stadium Challenge - Berkeley, CA (July 17th 2004)

According to tournament results published at the time, the South event saw 101 participants and the East Coast event saw 132 participants, however information for the West Coast may have been lost to time. Assuming that had a similar turnout, this card likely had a distribution of around 350.
