Pokémon postage stamps have been sold by various different postal service companies around the world. These postage stamps, like others, are considered to be collectors items.

Japan

2005

On June 23, 2005, Japan Post released Volume 1 of the "Animation Hero and Heroine Series" of stamps. Themed around Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, these were sheets of 10 stamps featuring two stamps each of five designs. The Pikachu, Charizard, and Mew stamps were each worth ¥80, and the Rayquaza and Munchlax stamps were each worth ¥50.[1]

2011

From July 20 to August 2, 2011 the "Japan International Philatelic Exhibition 2011" was held in Yokohama, Japan. To celebrate, a series of different stamps were released by Japan Post Holdings, including a sheet of 10 self-adhesive stamps. This sheet included two Astro Boy stamps, two Doraemon stamps, two Pikachu stamps, and two Hello Kitty stamps, as well as two stamps featuring the exhibition logo, each worth ¥80.[2] A second sheet with different designs featuring the same characters was also made available.

2021

On July 7, 2021, Japan Post released two limited edition sheets of Pokémon stamps. The first was a sheet of 10 stamps themed around the four seasons, each featuring original illustrations showing different Pokémon experiencing each season. These stamps were worth ¥84 each. The second sheet was based on the Pokémon Trading Card Game, with each of the 10 stamps designed to resemble a card from the Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield Eras of the game, including one that looked like a card back. These stamps were worth ¥63 each.[3]

On August 25, 2021, the "Pokémon Stamp Box" (Japanese: ポケモン切手BOX~ポケモンカードゲーム 見返り美人・月に雁セット~ Pokémon Stamp Box ~Pokémon Card Game Beauty Looking Back • Wild Geese Flying under the Full Moon Set~) was released. This set included another set of commemorative stamps featuring select Sword & Shield Era TCG cards, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise from the original Expansion Pack, each valued at ¥84, and homages to classic Japanese artworks with a Pokémon twist, valued at ¥120. It also came with two Full Art S-P Promotional cards depicting these homages and a copy of the Family Pokémon Card Game Anytime, Anywhere set.[4]

Australia

2021

On May 18, 2021, Australia Post released a special stamp pack in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Pokémon. The pack contained 20 $1.10 stamps and stamp tab designs featuring Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and other Pokémon.[5]

On November 23, 2021, a second pack of 20 $1.10 stamps was released. This set of summer-themed stamps featured different Pokémon, such as Grookey, Jigglypuff, Meowth, and Alolan Raichu.[6]

2023

On September 19, 2023, a pack of 20 $1.20 spring-themed Pokémon stamps was released. Pokémon featured in this pack included Hoppip, Rowlet, Eevee, and Torchic.[7]

2024

To celebrate Pokémon Day, on February 27, 2024, at a special event La Poste released €1.29 "lettre verte" stamps (for use within France) featuring Pikachu, and a pack of four international letter stamps featuring Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. These stamps were made available for general sale the next day.[8][9][10]

On June 17, 2024, La Poste released a booklet of 12 "lettre verte" stamps, featuring a series of different Pokémon ranging from those first discovered in Kanto, to more recent additions from Paldea.[11]
