Ability error?
It says that Grovyle used a powerful pound after activating Overgrow, which only affects grass moves, is this an error, or is it just a regular strong attack? Gliscorguy54 16:08, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Ability question:
All Pikachu have the ability Static, same with all Grovyle and Overgrow. Why would this change in the anime? PhaseShifter 03:22, January 21, 2010. (UTC)
I still think it's an error that the truant ability isn't active.
Although it is true that the games and the anime are two totally different things I can prove that abilities are active in the anime. For example, have you noticed how often opponents got paralyzed because of Ash's Pikachu's static? How about the episode focused on Linoone where it used pickpup? There is also an episode where Rhydon got the hit of Ash's Pikachu. I could go on, and on. There are countless episodes that show that abilities are indeed active in the anime.
While I do agree that Pokémon battles in the anime don't work the same way as they do in the game, I also know for a fact that abilities do work in the anime. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 19:15, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- I can clearly see this is mentioned in the trivia section above the error section. But I still feel like it belongs in the error section. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 19:21, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- With Slaking's Ability not revealed in the anime, we cannot consider it a error since it is unknown if Slaking really does have Ability Truant. ㄱ쉰 G50 19:57, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, let me ask you something. Isn't the fact that other abilities are active in the anime a perfectly good reason to assume that ability should work as well?
- Yeah, I know assumptions aren't normally welcome here, but I do think there is a very good reason for this assumption. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 20:05, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Unless it's confirmed, we cannot assume that Slaking has the Ability in the anime. Even though other abilities are active, there isn't any indication that Slaking has this Ability. ㄱ쉰 G50 20:23, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Sand Stream didn't activate even though the Pokémon who would normally have it was sent out. The same applied with Electivire before DP started (used Protect when it was about to get hit by Volt Tackle instead of letting the move make contact; as Motor Drive would have activated if Electivire did have it). Technically, Truant isn't the only one that wasn't activated despite what the effect says. The anime has the tendency of getting things mixed up as in the case of Tag! We're It...! when Paul told Ash about Rhydon's Lightningrod. PattyMan 20:29, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- You know what, you're absolutely right. Come to think of it, the move sandstorm doesn't make the weather sandstorm like it does in the game and water gun has done major damage in the anime even though it does little damage in the games. You know what, I am willing to admit it I was wrong. I do think the ability truant still works in the anime, but since several moves work differently in the anime I'm sure this ability also works differently. Of course I can't assume what the ability does in the anime, I know it does something, so that will remain a mystery. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 20:34, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't get it at first but then I ended up finding out that the rules worked differently. One thing I still didn't get was about Paul's reaction to Ash when Lightningrod activated. He was saying that Ash should have known about it. The way Paul expressed it was as if all Rhydon have that Ability. PattyMan 04:25, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
