African-American
Sure he's African-American? For sure, he's black, but as far as I know there are no references to him being from America in the game. Sounds like someone is just too afraid to say he's the first major character who is black. Satosuke 00:13, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Or is confused that black =/= African American. I agree though, there is no prrof he is either African OR American, so any reference to it should be removed. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 00:28, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I suppose he's... blacker in the game, right? To me the artwork image doesn't look like a black person at all, the skin tone is too light. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 00:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, he's blacker in the game. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 01:00, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- For all we know he could be hispanic. =P
- Seriously, though, the artwork does NOT show him being of African descent. He could simply be just dark skinned. --Jonouchi 21:05, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Look-a-like or what?
In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, in the past (by timetravel with Celebi) there is a dude who has the same hair and mustache as Barlow.. His name is Tanvir. Oh, and his clothes are pretty similar in style, except for the headband. Is he related to Barlow in some way? Or is it just the laziness of the creators to re-use an old sprite and modify it? - he doesn't even have official artwork so we can't even confirm it Ataro 19:24, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
