Talk:Clauncher (Pokémon)
It's based on a pistol shrimp. Glad I could help. - unsigned comment from Magic0loc0 (talk • contribs)
Origin
Like Magic0loc0 said, it's based off of a pistol shrimp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpheidae, ). The asymmetrical claws, along with the Clauncher aspect of it's name make it definitely a source of inspiration, if not the only inspiration. Dakar (talk) 15:04, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Trivia about the Water Gun Pokémon
Since Clauncher is classified as the Water Gun Pokémon, can someone add in the Trivia section that it is one of a few Pokémon whose species name in English is the same as the name of a move? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 05:28, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
Physiology
For the physiology section, could the below statement, or something similar to it be added to the article please?
Clauncher are Crustacean-esque Pokémon that are mainly cyan in colour. Their physique resembles that of a shrimp, prawn, lobster, or crayfish. Clauncher have two broad, yellow antennae atop their carapace (head segment). They have two chelae (crustacean claws); one chela does not form a pincer, and is instead, a sharp point and the other chela is significantly larger, with two parts, forming a classic pincer. The lower part of this pincer is smaller, and yellow. They have black-grey stripes along the end of each abdominal segment, and around their chelae. They have small cyan legs that are curved and come to a point. Clauncher have a light grey underside, three pointy mouth-parts, round yellow eyes with a small, black pupil, and two small trapezium-shaped uropods (tail-parts) protruding from their lower abdomen. they have a horizontal line encompassing the front of its carapace, in line with its eyelids, up until a second vertical line that encompasses its carapace completely. They have light grey segments on the parts of legs and chelae closest to their body.

Korean name for Clauncher
Its Korean name is 완철포 Wancheolpo.
- 완철 wancheol sounds like the English word "launcher", but not quite. I'm not sure if this was intentional. I'll sort it out later. -- Nick15 (talk) 18:11, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- 완(腕) wan means "forearm"
- 철포 cheolpo is from the Korean reading of 鉄砲, which is the (specifically?) Japanese word for "gun" (てっぽう teppō)
- I also can't shake the feeling that 완철 wancheol was chosen because of its similar sound to 란처 ran'cheo ("launcher"). I mean, otherwise Pokemon Korea would have used 조총(鳥銃) instead... -- Nick15 (talk) 20:08, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Game exclusive
I heard that Clauncher will be exclusive to X and Inkay and Malamar to Y. Has this at all been confirmed? PokefanRだいすきクラブ 02:39, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, but it's Skrelp that'll be exclusive to Y, not Inkay. The other version exclusives known at this point are Swirlix in X / Spritzee in Y and, of course, Xerneas and Yveltal. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 02:49, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
EV Yield
I caught a Clauncher with a newly hatched Honedge in my party, used a reset bag immediately after, and SpA went down by 1. That should be the base EV yield, shouldn't it? Gadvac (talk) 23:24, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
