Stats raised

Smogon tested Flower Gift a long time ago, and found that it boosts Attack and Special Defense only. http://www.smogon.com/dp/abilities/flower_gift --Aniny 16:26, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Also, does the Pokémon have to be sent out in order for the ability to work? Or does it automatically increase the stats in sunlight? TESHIGIGAS 14:30, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
(1) Logically, the Pokémon is not exposed to sunlight if it's not in the battle. (2) Do stat changes actually show up in the menu? I'm fairly sure they don't.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 06:14, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Dispute to Cherrim line

"Cherrim, the only Pokémon to have this Ability, also changes forms in sunlight, from a closed flower to one with spread petals; however, this is not caused by Flower Gift."

I'm not sure if this is 100% true. Upon facing a Cherrim in battle in Gen V (where ability names show up on the screen when activated), I saw it use Sunny Day, and the ability Flower Gift showed up, followed by the text "Cherrim changed form." This makes me think that the form change is a direct result of the ability. Schiffy (talk) 14:26, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Has it been confirmed that a Cherrim who has somehow lost Flower Gift will no longer change form?--MisterE13 04:39, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
I can confirm that Flower Gift is triggered when Cherrim changes forms in Gen VI as well. --SnorlaxMonster 15:27, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Generation V

In Generation V, does Flower Gift only change Cherrim's form or does it raise the stats as well? The current text makes it appear as if the former is the true case and should be modified, if the stats are affected as well. Harryghost (talk) 15:19, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Skill Swap

Can Flower Gift be Skill Swapped? It seems like form-changing abilities are generally restricted from being shuffled around, but it isn't mentioned, so I was wondering if this was an exception. -Spudwalt (talk) 04:34, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Yes. Flower Gift and Forecast can be Skill Swapped. --SnorlaxMonster 02:30, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Generation VIII

Just had this happen to me. A Max Raid Whimsicott hit my Dyanamaxed, Sunshine Form Cherrim with Worry Seed and it stayed in Sunshine Form, even after the Dynamax expired despite by ability now being Insomnia. Kohdok (talk) 03:56, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

When on a non-Cherrim Pokemon

Tested in Gen VI Omega Ruby, Flower Gift does not raise Attack nor Special Defense stats of allies when Flower Gift is held by an ally other than Cherrim. Therefore, Flower Gift's effect, along with the obvious form change, only works when its possessed by Cherrim. Side comment: as Flower Gift is Skill Swap-able and the in-game description does not mention that it only works on Cherrim, you'd expect it to allow other pokemon to benefit from the ability aside from the form change but I suppose not.

Regarding Utility Umbrella

If a Pokémon holds a Utility Umbrella, is it unaffected by its ally's Flower Gift? Tested in Pokémon Shield, the user who holds Utility Umbrella is still affected by its ally's Flower Gift ability via Attack and Special Defense Stat Boosts. --Zonut (Talk) 04:08, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
