Talk:Giant Pokémon
This article needs a bit of expansion, what role the individual Pokémon play, and exactly why they are giant in the first place. Not to mention what differenciates them from normal-sized Pokémon. I can't do too much here, my knowledge of episodes is limited at best, but I made a start. I split the episodes under their own heading, I'ld like to do the same to Talking Pokémon, but I think it might end up too messy, especially if there is too-little info on each Pokémon. I split them into Manga/Anime/Games either way, looks better now than it did. - Ferret 09:36, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
>I really don't think minor size alterations should be included in the article, as the characters in the anime never comment on the size of Juan or Winona's Pokémon, suggesting those sizes might be intended to be "normal" in the anime. The ones I listed previously were all intended to be giants.
Aside from that, there are tons and tons of minor size differences from the games to the anime - Drew's Roselia and Ash's Grovyle are both three times their in-game size. Noctowls are as big as a person, but Ash's isn't. No, these are just the writer's takes on what sizes they think individual Pokémon are (or at least should be for the purpose of looking better or plot). And thus problably shouldn't be covered on this page, because to the characters of the Pokémon anime, they're normal sized (unlike the giant Claydol or Bulbasaur - which are clearly stated to be unusually large).
Thus, I don't think they should be included, because they're not abnormal in the Pokémon anime. However, they might be better used in a similar but different topic about how Pokémon in the anime are rarely the same size as the ones in the PokéDex. Whaddya think? - Zeta
This page needs updating like Gary's Krabby being the size of Ash's Kingler...Crystal Lucario 13:02, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
"The powerful Tentacruel even spoke to the characters through Meowth, despite Tentacruel having no psychic powers." This statement is probably innaccurate, as Meowth, like most Pokémon, is able to understand what pretty much any Pokémon says, and often translates for Team Rocket. However, I haven't seen that episode, so if it wasn't the usual translating but more like some kind of 'possession' or whatever, that would indicate psychic powers. In which case the statement should probably be rewritten to make that more clear. Ettina, 1:41PM Feb 9 2009
Episodes With Giant Pokémon
EP244 said something about a giant Goldeen. Anyone care to confirm? ht14 22:44, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
I question the definition of "Giant"
For example, the Dragonite from Mystery at the Light House was indeed giant...but Drew's Roselia? It's not giant, it's just slightly bigger. Kingler and Krabby shouldn't be here either. What comparison can be made that says Ash's Kingler is larger? The Pidgey from the fat Pidgey island isn't giant either. This article should be limited to Pokémon that are literally giant. Not just slightly oversized. -Sketch 11:26, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed, those Pokémon you mentioned must not be there. I remember we have a page for them. That's where they fit. ►Ҝəυzø8 12:34, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
You're kidding me...
Whoever put the sprites sure do have a sense of humour, I mean it's like were gonna say, Oh so that's what The Dragonite looked like. Seriously, Take them out and put proper ones, Or I can make a emplate like I did with the other one.--FF(edits•talk) 06:57, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Go for it, the sprites there are kinda useless, unless they are customized. We'll be needing their actual image... ◄Kevzo8► 07:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Done, Bruno's Onix's sprite goes to the article. and The image are on their way.--FF(edits•talk) 07:09, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Ash's Kingeler and Marcel's Snorlax
Why are these pokemon on this page? Kingler is not giant. Marcels Snorlax was never described as giant or even above average (i'm almost certain) It may have been described as big or something but that is most likley because snorlaxs ARE big. -- D558 22:44, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Porygon
What about Electric SOldier Porygon? Porygon was giant in there too! - unsigned comment from Makupe (talk • contribs)
Eyeroll
An awful lot of these look like they were just drawn that way in the show. Sunflora for example. And that Charizard is just bigger because he trains hard and eats healthy. I haven't seen each of these episodes to confirm exactly which ones note, "Hey, Ash, look! That's a giant Pokemon!" but surely a few more of these can be removed.Bug Catcher Wade 22:38, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Manga wise
Didn't Golden Boys have a giant Sudowoodo? Dia Sprite 21:33, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- this is for the anime Ataro 21:45, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- This page is actually for all giant Pokémon (although anime is most prevalent) so feel free to include it in the section at the bottom: "Giant Pokémon in other media". —darklordtrom 22:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Legendary Birds
Why are they on here? Toon Ganondorf (t c) 01:44, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I guess because a few looked bigger than their in-game height? Zapdos didn't seem 5ft. 3in. if my memory serves me correctly. But honestly I don't have a definite answer, and don't really consider them to be giants any more than you do. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 01:54, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'd say they'd be better moved to size discrepancies in the Pokémon anime. I don't see how that Articuno is any different to Noland's in size. Its based purely off speculation, if it was intended that they were giants I'd imagine Oak or Ivy or someone would have said so, or the legend would have included it. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 02:02, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- Yes indeed. KG isn't available at the moment, but I'll bring it to her attention as soon as possible. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 02:09, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Addition
In Beheeyem, Duosion, and the Dream Thief! There is a part where Beheeyem turns into a giant but it is in a dream. It is up to you if you add it though. Kybett98 14:04, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- Those types of giant pokémon are not being included her because they are not actually Giant Pokémon. --HoennMaster 16:04, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Snorlax
The Snorlax in the episode A hot water battle looks to be at least double the size of a normal one so shouldent he be here too?? - unsigned comment from Donphan:) (talk • contribs)
- Not really, in the games Snorlax are seen as large enough to block an entrance to places due to how wide its body is. It being able to block a cave entrance in the anime doesn't seem to indicate it is bigger than normal. Frozen Fennec 14:32, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
- Well I guess your right. I just thought it looked really big compared to team rocket and that its foot was bigger than chikorita.(Donphan:) 15:27, 29 February 2012 (UTC))
Layout
Shouldn't we change it to three sections? Having trainer/appearance really is annoying on top of each other. -- Pringles 22:17, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
Pokémon Adventures
In the GSC chapters, Dragonite is shown to be much larger than Clair. Would that count? It also happens a lot, with Lance too. -- Pringles 22:21, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
Giant Claydol is not an Ancient Pokémon?
I mean, he didn't appeared in the episode The Ancient Puzzle of Pokémopolis, but he is 20,000 years old! He can be even older then the tatoo ones, since nobody is sure about when they were created/born.- unsigned comment from Torgola (talk • contribs)
J's Drapion
Isn't J's Drapion a giant pokemon too. --Pborri (talk) 00:12, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
Magikarp from XY022
The Shiny Magikarp that appeared at the end of XY022 is confirmed to be a Giant Pokemon since it was much larger in size than a standard Magikarp's. - unsigned comment from LatS (talk • contribs)
Um...
...why is the Staraptor used by Kellyn on this page? It's not that much taller than Ash's, and it only looks big because its wings are spread. Also, Winona's Skarmory and the old man's Mantine don't make a whole lot of sense to me. Shouldn't they (and a couple of others, too) go on the size discrepancy page, if even that at all? How are they "giant" Pokémon? AGGRON989 22:21, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Pokémon GO?
Maybe we can add Pokémon GO because of the XL and XS feature. It seems like XL Pokémon are Giant Pokemon so there may be something about it.
Giant Onix in Pokemon Adventures Manga
I’ve recently begun reading Pokemon Special, and am always on the lookout for Giant Pokemon as I find them to be an incredible anomoly in the Pokemon world. If it were me only Kaiju sized pokemon would be relevent to this article. Every other pokemon should fall into the acceptable size discrepency category. To that end only Dragonite, Tentacruel, Gengar, Alakazam, Jigglypuff, and Claydol are relevent as permanently Giant pokemon. There is a seventh though. During the Yellow arc of Pokemon Special Bruno is battled on top of a seriously huge Onix. The Rocks composing its body are at least 2-3 times as large as a regular Onix. Also the length of said Onix is immense. At one point the run from the head of the Onix towhere it meats the cavern wall where the body dissapears into the wall hinting at even greater length. - unsigned comment from MissingN0000 (talk • contribs)
Legendaries
Why aren't certain Legendary Pokemon on here? In the anime, numerous Legendary Pokemon are portrayed as being A LOT bigger than their Pokedex height. Take Groudon for example. It's Dex Height is 11'6, while in the anime it's around 30'. It's the same with Kyogre and Rayquaza. --Fox Boss (talk) 22:04, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- How do you know Legendaries are taller in the anime than what is described in the Pokédex? Did you take the time to measure them? GrammarFreak01 (talk) 03:58, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- That's Size discrepancies, not Giant Pokémon. The anime is known to make Pokémon either bigger or smaller than what the game says, and also, game=/=anime. And they're also legendaries, the animator may have intentionally made them bigger to be more intimidating.--ForceFire 04:34, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
The same thing applies overall, so the question remains, why they are not in either one of the pages? Also, I used The Scuffle of Legends, while Pikachu was standing on Groudon's head for size comparisons. --Fox Boss (talk) 05:43, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
