Evolving via battling

The evolution section states that it's not possible to evolve a Pokémon through battling, but this isn't entirely correct. Leveling up through battling doesn't seem to trigger evolution if you enter battle via the ZR button, because that recalls the Pokémon to its ball in order to throw it at the wild Pokémon; however, entering a battle via making contact with a wild Pokémon in the overworld does not recall the player's Pokémon, so it's possible to evolve it this way. This does seem to be correct. I've updated the article accordingly. Let me know if I missed anything or feel free to make any necessary changes yourself. Landfish7 07:51, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

"Outside Pokéball"?

What does this article mean when it says that the pokémon must be "outside their Pokéballs"?! In Scarlet and Violet, I've gotten Oawmo to evolve into Pawmot after recalling him to his Pokéball and then going into my bag to feed him a Rare Candy. Surely that's him being "inside" his Pokéball, correct? YodasWs (talk) 23:43, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Well, I know I used a Rare Candy to get it to evolve, and I feel like it was recalled when I went into my bag to give it the Rare Candy. YodasWs (talk) 23:59, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Here's another example: walked my Rellor, had a battle vs NPC, switched out for another party Pokémon, defeated the NPC, XP gained leveled up Rellor (who's in their Poké Ball), Rellor evolves.

And the species' pages don't mention that the pokémon can't evolve following a Let's Go battles, which is when I would think it's clearly outside its Poké Ball. That's misleading. YodasWs (talk) 03:26, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
