"Most of this should be subsumed into the main Shiny Pokemon page, leaving this as just a list. Unless we want to go the other way round and merge the other page here." - Me No need to have a perfectly good eight paragraphs split across two pages. Pick one of them to handle the bulk of the text, whether that means gutting this one down to the list or popping away the bulk of the main page on Shinies. I'm on the former side, by the by. Oh, I should clarify. The longer one article is, the more space there is available for examples! Hence, the motive. Salmancer (talk) 10:14, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Those two articles are pretty long:
- "Shiny Pokémon" is currently 127 kB, being the 141st longest page on the website.
- "List of cards featuring Shiny Pokémon" is currently 82 kB, being the 354th longest page.
- If they were both merged into a single 209 kB article, it would be 40th longest page, around the same size as List of moves in other languages.
- I would prefer keeping "Shiny Pokémon" and "List of cards featuring Shiny Pokémon" as separate articles. My old notebook struggles to the load the longest pages like those. In my opinion, it's also too much scrolling to find the right sections. Those pages are also very likely to grow more in the future as more games and cards are released. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 15:11, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think I could have phrased this better. I do not intend to move the list of cards on this page. It's a long list. My goal is to put both of the text components of both articles together to make a more informed whole. (Well, that and have the excuse of squeezing in another image) The questions are "should I combine both texts?" and "if so, which article does the result go on and which article gets a truncated description?" - I think I see what you mean. Basically, we now have those two sections explaining the Shiny Pokémon in the TCG:
- Shiny Pokémon#In the TCG (the longer one with 4375 characters)
- List of cards featuring Shiny Pokémon#Overview (the shorter one with 1454 characters)
- It appears that we currently have to check two articles to see the full picture about Shiny Pokémon in the TCG.
- In my opinion, it would probably be a good idea to use only a single article for everything we have to say about Shiny Pokémon in the TCG, including the entire detailed explanation together with the list of cards.
- If it's alright, I suggest moving the longer text from Shiny Pokémon#In the TCG into List of cards featuring Shiny Pokémon#Overview. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 01:36, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
