Ho-Oh

From the poster, can we safely assume that Ho-Oh is in the movie and add it to the list of characters? Kidburla (talk) 20:45, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Even that's too much of an assumption. The initial teaser for M13 showed Lugia and Ho-Oh, and they never showed up in the film. -- Umbee (talk) 22:45, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
At the very least, we can reasonably assume that Marshadow might play some role in the film, assuming of course it ISN'T like what the teasers hint it to be. It's the only mythical Pokémon in Generation VII besides Magearna (who had already debuted) accounted for. If the movie IS like what the teasers hint it to be, then we'll probably wait until next year for Magearna to appear. That said, let's wait until we get more official information on that front. Based on how long it took to get concrete information for M19, I'd say we'll wait until... oh, late January, maybe the first week of February (owing to the earlier release of new information on M20 than with M19). Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 21:12, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Correction, M19 information was released around the same time. So more likely actual new info about the movie will be released either January 12 or 19 (since M19 info was released on January 14, 2016, either of those two dates would have been close to the mark). Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 21:22, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Um, no, we can't assume Marshadow will be in the movie. If you're forgetting, there's data in SM for both Pikachu in a cap, its Z-Crystal, and Mew's Z-Crystal. Those are far more likely to be related to the movie, especially the former. Either way, this is nothing more than speculation and is thus unneeded. Ataro (talk) 21:26, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Okay, fair enough, especially when Ash-Pikachu is more likely to be for this movie anyway. Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 00:18, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
Well, what do you know? Both Ash-Pikachu AND Marshadow are going to be in this movie. Bit surprised that they would actually do it even though I earlier predicted Marshadow to be the event Pokémon, especially when there aren't any Mythical Pokémon left in Gen VII to distribute. Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 13:35, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

Should the returning characters in this movie get separate articles?

Since it is clear Ash's journey will take a very different route in this movie, should there be a separate article for the version that appears in this movie?- unsigned comment from Charmeleon2495 (talkcontribs)

Why not? It's clear it's not even going to follow much beyond Ash and Pikachu's first meeting, so might as well treat them as separate characters. Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 14:34, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
Well, are we doing this or not? TheFatPanda (talk) 00:23, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
The movie is not out yet. We do not know what will happen in the movie, so we cannot know whether it is appropriate to go with this proposal or not. Be patient. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 01:10, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
I kind of assumed the Japan Expo premiere was the point where it was considered "released", and we're already getting summeries coming through from those who attended, so... TheFatPanda (talk) 02:12, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
Pumpkinking, the movie came out yesterday in France. The summaries are already out. It should only be reasonable to do so Theexploringgamer (talk) 03:04, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
It comes out July 15, according to our article. It may have preview showings before then, but it's impossible for us to know whether the people who claim to be going to those are giving reliable summaries online. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:55, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Are you sure that the Charmander from the trailer is Ash's Charmander?

In the trailer, someone is seen catching or withdrawing a Charmander but that someone isn't wearing Ash's gloves so that Pokémon may be owned by someone else.- unsigned comment from EdSantos (talkcontribs)

They are catching it because when returning a Pokemon the Pokeball does not open. Jpderouin (talk) 17:58, 23 April 2017 (UTC)jpderouin

Characters

Why are the characters from the movies getting their own pages already, when the movie hasn't earned yet, when the same doesn't happen for COTD from the series? Playerking95 (talk) 06:40, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Continuity...

How does this affect the anime's continuity? Should we treat it as an alternate reality? TeridaxXD001 (talk) 03:53, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

No- unsigned comment from RubyLeafGreenCrystal (talkcontribs)
If this is alternative reality as Playerking95 suggests, will new pages be created for existing characters or a section be added to the existing pages listed Alternatvie Continuity or something like that?--BigDocFan (talk) 21:18, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
Adding to that, think we should move Sun & Moon Ash to this alternate continuity page? Only reason I'm asking because his voice actress implied that it was such. Weedle Mchairybug (talk) 01:37, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
The big conversation in the post(s) you linked isn't with Ash's voice actor... If you're only referring to the tweet quoting Rica Matsumoto at the end of the post, then that doesn't imply a single thing about an alternate reality; she's only talking about how she thinks of him in her mind. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:52, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

Neesha and Corey cameos?

(removed link)

Upon close inspection, the trainers in the opening battle appear to be Neesha and Corey from the M01. TheFatPanda (talk) 10:33, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

This is already noted in Trivia. Furthermore, please don't link to illegally hosted content. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 14:51, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

"Differences" section

I was thinking there should be a section listing all the major differences between the movie and the Original series. If there was, whereabout should it go on the page? TheFatPanda (talk) 00:43, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Questionable Trivia

The trivia part where it states:

"Shōko Nakagawa was responsible for being the symbol of twenty years of Pokémon, with the role of Nurse Joy. She grew up playing the first generation of games, which is why she represents Pokémon 20th Anniversary by voice acting an "older sister" kind of role in the movie."

How and what does that have to do with Pokemon? It's like saying us fans are the symbol and represent 20 years of Pokemon as well, by playing or growing up with the first generation games till now and thats why we represent the 20th Pokemon anniversary. I think that trivia is a bit of a stretch and not pertaining to the movie at all, it's more like fan trivia or bragging rights to your friends (no disrespect at all). Just wanted to share my own opinion. - unsigned comment from ‎Demers-Vachon (talkcontribs)

You'll notice that it's a subpoint of the Yuyama interview, so it's reporting something he said. It's not just some random made-up thing. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:40, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Preview airings

Should the preview airings be noted somewhere in the article? Representatives from the website Pokémon Times from Italy went to the preview on October 30; and those from Pokémon Blast News and Showmetech from Brazil went on November 1. I don't know if other countries or other websites received the preview as well, but it was most likely exclusive to the press. --Mine4017 (talk) 21:23, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

There was also a showing in the UK on November 1; however, because they weren't public events (like the Japanese preview screenings) they don't need to be noted in the intro. They may need to be noted on the event page if the Pikachu QR Code was distributed at those screenings, though. --Abcboy (talk) 04:10, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

US Rating

I added the US rating quite some time ago, but there seems to be some conflicting information. The Fathom Events web page for the movie said it's rated G. However, my ticket stub from the theater I saw it at says it's rated PG. Which is more reliable? Also note that it's not even listed on the MPAA's film ratings site. TeridaxXD001 (talk) 22:55, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Explanation for the scene where Pikachu "talks"?

I don't think it's really Pikachu talking. I think it's Ash either imagining or hallucinating what he thinks Pikachu would say. --CuteShaymin (talk) 08:16, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

It is a possibility, but we do not know the answer with full certainty. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:18, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
