Talk:Mantine (Pokémon)
Trivia
Mantine is the second Pokémon to have more than one Pokémon in one of its sprites. The first is Kangaskhan, although Kangaskhan is just holding its own baby, not a Pokémon of an entirely different species.
- What about Slowbro and Slowking? I'd have thought the Shellder in their sprites would count... Bikini Miltank 14:59, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
I've always thought it would count too...--Maii 19:19, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Maii
- Shouldn't we put something like how Mantine is the only Pokémon that requires another Pokémon for evolution, thus Mantyke cannot be evolved when the only Pokémon in its party.
- AND Mantine is the only Pokémon to have another Pokémon obtainable in the games in its sprite.
And maybe something about how real Remoras eat plankton off of sharks, just to consider it.

Trivia bullet #3
Mantine's shiny sprites in the second and third Generations also show the Remoraid attached to it to be an alternate color; however, they are depicted as light blue rather than gray or pink, the usual color of a shiny Remoraid.
- In G/S/C, the Remoraid is tan in the non-shiny sprites due to color limitations, and turns its normal light-blue in Mantine's shiny form. In Gen 3, the Remoraid stays the same color in both forms apart from a few pixels. --IWannaBeTheVeryBest 21:35, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Removed, after two years of apparently being ignored. I also had something I wanted to say that didn't fit in my edit summary, which was "As noted on the talk page a couple of years ago, this was only true in Gen 2, and only because of sprite limitations. Gen 3's Remoraid is nearly identical between Mantine's shiny and nonshiny sprites." I also wanted to add that this probably meant to indicate that it is a shiny Mantine attached to a non-shiny Remoraid (but this is, of course, entirely speculative and not to be included in the article at all). Trivia?
Is it worth noting that although Mantyke's evolution requires a Remoraid in the party, neither Generation IV nor Generation V show a Remoraid in Mantine's sprite? That seemed odd to me, but I wasn't sure. (I know we're not doing trivia now. I meant when we get to a point where we are.) Ikarishipper900 15:42, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Origin
I found this article very interesting: [1] Could any of this be noted in Mantyke/Mantine/Remoraid/Octillery's origin section, or is it too speculative? ToastUltimatum 02:13, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Revolver-like pokemon
Okay, so Remoraid is attached to Mantine's wing, allowing it to learn attacks that Remoraid can learn by shooting stuff with the Remoraid. First, wouldn't Mantine's wing be kinda like an arm? Second, if Remoraid is a revolver, wouldn't Mantine using Remoraid to shoot stuff be kinda like someone using a revolver to shoot stuff- by holding the revolver?ThePoketrix (talk) 15:40, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
Pronunciation
Should it be mentioned that, in the recent B/W episode, it was pronounced "man-teen" when previously it was always "man-tyne"? Zurqoxn (talk) 15:30, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
I am not sure because this has occurred for a few other pokemon as well. The probable reason is because "man-tyne" reflects the japanese pronunciation of the pokemon, while "man-teen" reflects the pronunciation as if it were a english word with recent latin origin.
