Ditto Marker? (Or, Objects Without Physical Release)

The Ditto Marker is a marker used in two alternative formats from the Alternative Play handbook. However, as far as I'm aware, no physical rendition of a Ditto Marker has been put out by TPC/TPCi. Which means there is a question of article scope. Should this article:

  • only cover only the markers created as physical objects?
  • cover every rules aid called a "marker"? (That would also include the Shock-wave and Imprision markers from one EX series card each I believe.)
  • be split, creating a Marker article about the game entities and a Marker article about the merchandise?

I don't like having concepts without articles, so I strongly support 2 and weakly support 3. Either works, but if it's a marker then it's a marker right? Salmancer (talk) 17:19, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Marker = Counter (Or, Oops This Page is Actually of Monumental Importance!)

Rulebooks from Expedition to X and Y have an entry for "counter". The version in the earlier X and Y rulebooks reads as follows (bolding is mine): "Object put on a Pokémon as a reminder (for example, a Char counter). A counter does not go away when you Bench the Pokémon, but it does go away if the Pokémon evolves (damage counters are a special exception to this rule). See damage counter, Poison marker, Burn marker."

Oh no. If Posion and Burn markers are indeed just a type of counter then A) This page should actually be moved to "Counter (TCG)" and B) This page should cover every single play aid ever released for Pokemon short of coins and playmats. That's a lot of things. Off the top of head list: Damage counters, damage counter dice, the TCG Classic accessories, The Corocoro Curse, Bone, and Leek, and I'm willing to bet there are 60 more I've missed. And there is still the lingering issue of non-merchandise counters, seen in the section above. I did not expect this page to have such a massive scope, and now that it does it's very unfinished in a bad way. Salmancer (talk) 01:24, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
