Giga Impact

--Darkmaster (talk) 04:39, 1 November 2013 (UTC)How would this ability affect a move like, say, Giga Impact? Would it attack once, then rest, making it a one turn move? Would it attack twice and rest for 2 turns? Or would it be attack twice, then rest one turn? I am just curious.

Just tested. They both hit on the same round, and then recharge on the next turn, and are able to act again on the turn after. So, it works exactly like it would with any other Pokemon. When using an attack with Parental Bond, it will say "Hit 2 times!" as if it were a move like Double Hit. PowerPlantRaichu (talk) 18:42, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Power-Up Punch

Power up Punch and similar moves give their bonuses twice when used with Parental Bond. PowerPlantRaichu (talk) 19:24, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Damage Reduction

Does anyone know the exact damage reduction for the second hit. I have read 50% on Smogon but I'm not sure how reliable that number is. Ctom42 (talk) 15:18, 4 November 2013 (UTC) It is 50%. But not the damage is reduced, but the power of the move is halved. It still can do an own critical hit and fixed damage is not affected. I guess it also has its own random factor in the damage calculation. - Pokémon Questions? -- 03:34, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Earthquake

The article currently mentions earthquake only hitting once in horde and triple battles. What about double battles? And is it just earthquake or is it all moves which hit multiple opponents? Or is it all moves which hit both opponents and allies? Also do those type of moves have a specific name I can tag them as, similar to how multi-hit moves are tagged right now? Ctom42 (talk) 15:20, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Status Moves

Are Status moves also performed twice? Recover, Sword Dance, even Protect...? - Pokémon Questions? -- 03:30, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Only moves that do damage are affected. Glik (talk) 03:40, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. But the sentence "This only affects moves that do damage." is confusing. What does it mean then? If is meant, that it must not miss, that is explained in the last paragraph. - Pokémon Questions? -- 03:56, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
What about it is confusing? It can't be any more straightforward; moves that deal damage are affected, moves that don't, aren't. Glik (talk) 04:05, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
The context is confusing: "with the second attack being half as strong as the first. This only affects moves that do damage." Of course damage (actually it is the power and not the damage) can only be halved by offensive moves. But it does not sound unambiguous. Nowhere in the description cleary stands that Status Moves are excluded. Perpaps it would be good to write "This ablility only affects moves that do damage." instead. - Pokémon Questions? -- 15:11, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
How is it not clear that status moves aren't affected? You just said that it's obvious only damage can be halved. The first sentence makes it apparent that it only affects damaging moves, the second sentence clarifies it. It doesn't matter if "This" is referring to the Ability or its effect, there's no difference between them. If the Ability had a second affect, further clarification would be needed but it doesn't. The Ability only affects damaging moves, so it's effects must only apply to damaging moves and vice versa. Glik (talk) 16:04, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
I know I'm late to the party, but if I may interject? To put a long story short, moves like Howl, Swords Dance, Recover, and those moves within the Status category are only performed once with a Parental Bond wielding Pokemon. --IM-T-MAN2 (talk) 01:38, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Moves mentioned that can't even be legitimately learned

Why are so many moved mentioned, moves that aren't even possible for Kangaskhan to learn?

Dragon Tail, U-turn and Volt Switch Bug Bite and Pluck Smelling Salts, Wake-Up Slap and Knock Off all to name a few.

Why are these moves even mentioned? Yamitora1 (talk) 08:25, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Kangashan can use all of the listed moves via Mimic, and PB can be moved to other Pokémon with Skill Swap.--Den Zen 09:05, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
And it's not like there can't be more Pokemon who have Parental Bond in the future. Ataro (talk) 09:14, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Multi-Hit Moves

The description says that it doesn't affect multi-strike moves, but I've been using mega kangaskhan for a while now, and I noticed something odd: it seems that Parental bond causes all multi-hit attacks to hit exactly twice? From what I've seen. Has anyone else noticed this? Harumei (talk) 15:52, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

I tried with Comet Punch, and got it to hit 2, 3, 4, and 5 times with Parental Bond. --SnorlaxMonster 03:27, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Multi target moves

Does moves like earthquake that hit friend and foe hit twice if there is only one target?

I know Dazzling Gleam will hit twice if there is only one opponent. Yamitora1 (talk) 02:16, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I tried it, and if the move only hits one Pokémon it will hit twice in a Double Battle, but if it strikes more than one (including an ally) then it will only strike once. --SnorlaxMonster 03:27, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
What about if it cannot strike all targets for some reason, Like if earthquake is used and only one target is able to be effected due to being flying or something else? Yamitora1 (talk) 03:57, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
NVM I see it now lol ^^; Yamitora1 (talk) 04:00, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Round

Does anyone know if using round with parental bond increases the damage output (does it count as it being used multiple times in one turn)? BobBot321 (talk) 23:33, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Trace + Z-Move

If a Pokémon with Trace copies the user's ability and uses a Z-Move, does the copied ability Parental Bond make the Z-Move attack twice? --AwesomeDJPokémon 11:55, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

No, apparently not. Added. Nescientist (talk) 12:56, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Secondary effects

I know that moves with guaranteed side effects, like Power-Up Punch, apply their effects to both strikes. But how exactly does it work in the case of moves with a chance of causing a secondary effect, like Bite and Ancient Power? Does it roll for the secondary effect on each strike? Or does it roll for the effect once and apply it to both strikes if it's successful? Diachronos (talk) 19:50, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

The effects are independent. So, Ancient Power would have a 10% chance of increasing stats per hit. Ice Cream 22:05, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
