Encounter
I think we need a table of pokemon locations for pokemon found through rocksmash, similar to the headbutt page, seeing as there is some general confusion caused over pokemon like Dunspace and Shuckle being found simply through "Rock Smash", when they are only found in specific locations. Anyone else think this would be a handy reference? - unsigned comment from Parallel (talk • contribs)
- I do.

Generation Five Function?
The article currently seems incomplete to me, as there is no information about the move's out-of-battle effect or lack there of in Gen V. Does anyone know if it does or does not have an effect in Black and White, and if so, could they possibly add that to the page? •Palkiajosh• 00:53, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- Also, does anyone have an explanation as to why the move was demoted to a TM in Generation V? Hammerise 11:20, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Trivia
Is it worth noting that this move, along with only 7 others, has a 50% chance of a secondary effect happening? And that 6 of them are, or at least have been (Crush Claw), signature moves? --LimeGreenCharizard-- 15:06, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Generation VI Item List
During my kinda-short search for a Shuckle, I came across quite a few Rock Smash-obtained items and thought it'd be a good idea to list them. Most of these came from Terminus Cave (the room just inside the entrance next to Psychic Inver's place, obviously chosen for convenience) and the two rocks outside it, but it's likely that they're not unique to this area. This was done on a Pokémon X cartridge, but these aren't X-specific items, and it's unlikely that the probabilities (which I don't know) are different on Y.
- Hard Stone
- Soft Sand (lots of these)
- Heart Scale
- Pearl
- Star Piece
- Revive
- Max Revive
- Ether
- Max Ether
This isn't a conclusive list, but it'd be fine as preliminary info until someone reverse-engineers the complete item lists/probabilities out of X/Y.

- The full list is in the second official guidebook. I don't have it, but I've requested someone with it to be added to this list. --SnorlaxMonster 04:05, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
TM94 and HM06 for Gen VI
Does someone know how to edit the TM/HM template so it says TM94/HM06 for Gen VI? I can't figure out how this works. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 01:19, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
Rock Smash items
Data I've gathered so far on Rock Smash items in ORAS. Feel free to continue working on it. Additionally, there are no items in the Trick House's smashable rocks.
Notably, this is different to the "Type 2" category of Rock Smash items in XY in that it includes the Normal Gem.

Breakable rock split
The "Outside of battle" section currently takes up a large portion of the page because it goes into so much detail on the kinds of items that can be found using Rock Smash. I think it could easily have its own page (like Headbutt tree, although that was split for technical reasons), also allowing it to go into more detail on the kinds of wild Pokémon you can encounter using it. --SnorlaxMonster 04:44, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- I agree, there's enough information there to give it a separate page.--ForceFire 04:56, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- I agree as well. It's definitely enough to merit its own page. AmoongussForLife (talk) 19:57, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be a page for Breakable Rocks yet. I don't have the permission to do so. Will someone create a page soon, or are we leaving the information on the same page? In the case where the information stays on the Rock Smash page, does the message that says "The contents of this article have been suggested to be split into Breakable rock." need to stay on thet page? --Diriector Doc (talk) 01:14, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
- It appears to have been drafted in the userspace at User:Tiddlywinks/Breakable rock. The staff will have to decide when to mainspace it. After that happens, the split notice will be removed. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 03:12, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
Dutch name
Well, isn't it Steenknal in Dutch? Because in a magazine of Black and White, where they discribe BW033, they say Beartic used an attack, called "Steenknal", and since it was Rock Smash in the anime, I suppose it should be both. Lokki (talk) 14:00, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Chance of finding a Pokemon
Someone showed me this Smogon article ( https://www.smogon.com/ingame/rng/emerald_rng_part3#rock_smash ), which claims the chance of finding a Pokemon is about 10%. I think this information is both helpful and accurate and should be transcribed to the Bulbapedia article. Can I? sumwun (talk) 17:25, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- It's not true for Generation II, and it's an approximation in Generation III. Please also see the talk page of this article (which should be mainspace imo). Nescientist (talk) 17:18, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
Page split
Because SnorlaxMonster said so, the page about the move Rock Smash shouldn't contain the information about breakable rocks. Only information about the move itself should be on the page. Thank creators of this page in advance.--TheICTLiker4 18:06, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Rock Smash in Gates.
This article says that Rock Smash couldn't damage enemies in PMD games prior to Super, but the move's description from Gates to Infinity suggests that it is a damaging move in this entry. Could someone tell me what actually happens? I don't want to to getting my hopes up prematurely. Gengarzilla! 00:15, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
