Talk:Theme Deck (TCG)
First: I hope I'm not doing something wrong; I'm a wiki newbie.
Second: The new Epic decks should be put up here.

Update explanation and To Do List
To prevent someone from having a heart attack over all the Japanese exclusive deck data that was added, much of the data was already here and some was on the Pokémon Trading Card Game page, where it clearly did not belong. It was after looking at the somewhat randomness of the then Japanese exclusive deck categorizations and after getting feedback from User:Maverick Nate on the subject, I now believe the Japanese exclusive decks are now sorted correctly both by category designation under Category:Decks and on this Theme Deck page.
To Do List:
- There still may be a few miss labeled decks that slipped through the cracks but I believe I have caught them all,
- Any Japanese exclusive decks that I added still need the deck symbols and energy type symbols added, which is a great majority of the decks at this point,
- I still need to audit the Half Deck page verses the now more up-to-date data found on this Theme Deck page, and
- I intend to create separate pages for the various Japanese exclusive deck types (using the Half Deck page as a template) so as to cut the Theme Deck page back down to a reasonable size -- I just temporarily needed a single location on which to organize.
- Note to self on #4: all newly created pages should capitalize the word "Deck" or "Kit" in the file name/page title, unlike "deck" used on the "Half deck (TCG)" page.
I'm creating this To Do List because I greatly underestimated how much time it would take just to organize all the information. After spending several straight days wrangling all these decks, I need a short break from Japanese exclusive decks. --Marlofkark (talk) 14:31, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
May 4, 2016 Update
I added Dragon to Storm Rider. Can someone do a check to confirm the rest are accurate? - unsigned comment from ACA (talk • contribs)
- Now that Dragon is removed from Storm Rider, it should all be accurate! =D MaverickNate 14:30, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
In the V theme deck section, can we change V Battle Deck—Venusaur vs. Blastoise to the sets it was releasing in?
Although the product released together, I think classify this as battle style is better.
V Battle Deck—Victini vs. Gardevoir = Chilling reign V Battle Deck—Rayquaza vs. Noivern = Evolving skies V Battle Deck—Lycanroc vs. Corviknight = Brilliant star Pokémon GO V Battle Deck—Mewtwo vs. Melmetal = Astral radiance

Split off products with different names
This article is overstuffed. Theme Decks are a separate product line from V/ex Battle Decks, which are a separate product line from Deluxe Battle Decks, which are a separate product line from League Battle Decks. If these were split into separate articles, there would be space to describe the general properties and goals of each line, instead of loosely generalizing into "designed with a specific strategy (such as Special Conditions) or theme (such as starter Pokémon) in mind".
Yes, V/ex Battle Decks replaced Theme Decks, but that doesn't mean they should be grouped under the same page. PTCGO treated both lines as distinct concepts, not allowing V Battle Decks into the Theme format. Salmancer (talk) 21:20, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
Theme is too close minded. More generic name!
"We sell two types of Trading Card Game products: preconstructed decks and booster packs. Preconstructed decks have fixed contents of 60 cards (each preconstructed deck of the same name contains all the same cards). Preconstructed decks are intended to provide a product that can be played right out of the box. Preconstructed decks are not the best for customers who want the greatest variety of cards." - What types of Trading Card Game products are available?
Folks, I give you the most helpful Customer Support FAQ ever conceived of. Move this article to "Preconstructed deck" and it's instantly 5 times more correctly scoped. (I still want the page split.) Salmancer (talk) 19:03, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, now I'm confused. preconstructed deck actually already redirects here, yet the term is being used over on the deck page as a header to cover half decks, Trainer Kits, World Championship Decks, and the three concepts scrunched up in this article. My head's spinning. We should do something about this. Salmancer (talk) 22:19, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
