Talk:Wii character encoding (Generation IV)
Move
The current title is:
- Wii character encoding (Generation IV)
Maybe we could use this title instead:
- Character encoding (Battle Revolution)
The page is currently only about Pokémon Battle Revolution. In my opinion, if the page is about a single game, the page title might as well mention the game instead of the console and generation. This would also be consistent with the character pages that currently use the "(Battle Revolution)" tag, such as Nate (Battle Revolution) and Taylor (Battle Revolution).
Technically the title "Wii character encoding (Generation IV)" could be about Pokémon Battle Revolution, My Pokémon Ranch, PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure, Pokémon Rumble, and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare). If those 5 games share the same encoding, using a single page for them could work. Otherwise, we might consider using separate pages for each game such as "Character encoding (My Pokémon Ranch)" and "Character encoding (Mystery Dungeon WiiWare)". --Daniel Carrero (talk) 09:41, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Per the manual of style, Character encoding in Pokémon Battle Revolution would be more appropriate. However, I do realize that this format would need to be applied to the other character encoding/data structure articles as well, so might be something to revisit after the Animation split work is complete. - Yes, I see that you are right about the manual of style.
- This article is pretty long now. It currently has 33k+ characters about Battle Revolution and 43k+ characters about My Pokémon Ranch. It is currently the 2nd longest character encoding page, after Character encoding (Generation V–present).
- I suggest splitting this page by game:
- Character encoding in My Pokémon Ranch
- Character encoding in Pokémon Battle Revolution
- As I mentioned above, technically the page title "Wii character encoding (Generation IV)" could fit a number of spin-off games. Here are some page titles that we might want to use in the future for those kinds of games:
- Character encoding in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)
- Character encoding in Pokémon Rumble
- Character encoding in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure
- Character encoding in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
