Oh, I should talk it here...how do the exclusives work (parser-wise), and if 0 can be inserted for the percent rate, can "Unrecruitable" be written? ht14 22:24, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

That shoud fix the unrecrutible. Exclusives appear to be a "game" parser (write red, blue, time, darkness, or sky).--MisterE13 22:39, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Also, don't forget that writing "boss=yes" will put a note in saying that it's a boss. I've also added in some coding about the Mystery Part and Secret Slab, writing "part=yes" will make a note about it appear. Now, I'm wondering if it needs Forme coding like the learnlists on move pages.--MisterE13 19:41, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
I still don't know how to use the parsers though...sigh... ht14 01:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Never mind. ht14 01:54, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Unnamed parser #6 is now Forme stuff.--MisterE13 23:26, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Exclusive Pokémon

I have altered the template to allow for Pokémon exclusive to two of the MD2 games. For example, I just finished Midnight Forest in Explorers of Sky, and I encountered both Beedrill and Rotom, which were supposedly exclusive to Darkness (at least in that dungeon). I set it to show as Darkness and Sky only and added a similar one for Time and Sky, but I'm not sure if that is the best way to do it. Maybe not Time would be better. I added floors. Doesn't work... ht14 20:57, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Nm, the parser is darknessandsky and timeandsky... ht14 20:59, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I figured some people might have trouble with the ampersands.--MisterE13 21:06, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Icons and protection

Can we actually use the Mystery Dungeon portraits for this template (MDP instead of MS)? Also, I don't wanna complain, but shouldn't this (and the header/footer) be protected? Nescientist (talk) 19:22, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Suggesting a split and refresh

I think this template should be split into different versions, depending on the game (for example: mdloc/rt, mdloc/tds, mdloc/3ds, mdloc/rtdx). Here's my reasoning:

  • There are different sets of portrait files for: Rescue Team (only story-important characters have portraits), Explorers, 3DS games, and Rescue Team DX (WiiWare does not use portraits). To use these portraits with the current template, we would need to specify the game we want portraits from every time. If we have to specify every time, we might as well use a separately-named template for each group. (Note: simply using the most-recent game might not be viable, as there is no guarantee that it will have all prior Pokémon. Case in point: Gates to Infinity, Rescue Team DX both did not contain several of the existing Pokémon at the time.)
  • Some Pokemon have MD portraits but do not have core series menu sprites, for example Primal Dialga. Due to this, there is a broken file link for Primal Dialga on Temporal Tower that cannot be fixed with the template's current menu sprite reliance.
  • The List of Pokémon with form differences page was reworked fairly recently, with most of the actual form information moved to the species pages. This template currently has a bunch of complex logic to determine what section of that page to link to - but now it should probably just link to the Pokémon's "Form data" section when applicable. There's likely an opportunity to simplify the logic for this, as well.
  • There's a big switch statement for the availability superscripts. By splitting this template, we can reduce the amount of superscript logic needed in each post-split template (mdloc/tds would only be concerned with the Explorers games, etc). This could make each post-split template easier to read and maintain.
