Release information
Tropical Tidal Wave was first released at Worlds 2005, and was later released at Worlds in both 2006 and 2010. Each reprint features artwork to coincide with whatever the latest game is at the time: the Worlds 2006 print features Wailmer and Munchlax to prepare for the release of Generation IV, and the Worlds 2010 print features Hoppip and Marill, two Pokémon introduced in Generation II, which had just received the remakes Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
For each primary iteration of this card, a nine-card commemorative collection was given to participating players at the start of the tournament. The collection consists of seven prints of Tropical Tidal Wave in English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, along with two special cards featuring a themed design of the current World Championships; one advertising the forthcoming World Championship Decks and one advertising the date and venue for the following World Championships. Special stamped versions of the English print were also awarded to staff who helped oversee the event and to the top-ranking players in each division of the tournament. All Worlds 2010 prints of this card are numbered HGSS18 with the exception of the Japanese print, which is an unnumbered L-P Promotional card.
