Lugia (Japanese: ルギア Lugia) is a recurring Pokémon that appeared during Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
In the anime
Lugia first appeared in Legend? Go! Friends? Go!, where it appeared just outside Vermilion City. Its appearance caused many Trainers to engage it in battle, but none of the attacks had an effect on it. As Lugia started to fly away, Ash and Goh jumped onto Lugia, which led them to meet each other for the first time. Lugia eventually took the boys on a journey through the sea and the sky before dropping them off.
Lugia reappeared in Heroes Unite! and JN136, where it had a Raid Battle against Ash and Goh before taking them on a flight.
Personality and characteristics
Lugia is a strong Pokémon, managing to withstand the attacks of many other Pokémon as seen in Legend? Go! Friends? Go!. Lugia is also kind towards others, as seen when it softened its drop into the ocean whilst Ash and Goh were still riding on it.

In the games
Pokémon GO
On November 6, 2020, as part of Pokémon GO's Animation Week 2020 event, which was based on Pokémon Journeys: The Series, several Pokémon based on Ash and Goh's adventures appeared more frequently in the wild, in raids, from 7 km Eggs, and during surprise encounters, with Lugia appearing only in level 5 raids. The event ran from November 6, 2020, at 8:00 a.m., to November 12, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time.
