Spading around to see what rematches are possible, as well as what matches are not possible based on how the storyline progresses. For the purposes of this article, while it is true that Gym Trainers cannot be battled after the Gym Leader (for the most part anyway), those Trainers will be ignored. This is to test what triggers rematches in games where rematches are not "naturally possible" (that is, based on time/day. So for instance, Barry's weekend match after defeating the Elite Four would not count. Pokénav and Pokégear^GSC matches will also not count unless there is a specific trigger that I don't know about.). Elite Four rematches are valid as an example. Feel free to edit, but please ask questions if you're confused~

Rematches

RGB

• Elite Four - defeat the Elite Four, get to rematch them again

GSC

• Elite Four - same as RGB
• Red - defeat the Elite Four
• S.S. Aqua Trainers (after the first match)

FRLG

• Elite Four - Same as RGB.

Colo

• Pyrite Bldg - after defeating Dakim, rematches in the same levels are possible upon leaving the area (you have to leave Pyrite Town) and re-entering (someone else will have to test for before defeating Dakim, but iirc, that's not possible)
• Pyrite Town - rematch with Cail is possible upon entering and leaving a random building
  • Duel Square - same as in Pyrite Town

HGSS

• Elite Four - same as RGB
• Red - defeat the Elite Four

Missed/avoidable matches

RGB

• S.S. Anne - once the player leaves, he cannot go back inside (are there specific ones?)

GSC

• S.S. Aqua - once the player leaves, s/he cannot go back inside (first ride only)

• Agate Village - Skof cannot be battled after the realization that the Relic Forest was broken into
