South Boulevard (Japanese: サウスサイド ストリート Southside Street) is a street lining the southern half of Lumiose City in the Kalos region.

Geography

An example of an alley found in South Boulevard

South Boulevard is a street in Lumiose City, the mega-city presesnt in the Kalos region. Described as a major street,[1] it allows the player cross over onto North Boulevard, Estival Avenue, and Vernal Avenue within the city, and may depart to Route 4 in the southwest, Route 5 in the southeast, and Route 13 in the northwest via the gates that line the outer edges of the street. The player cannot travel elsewhere within Lumiose City until the player has defeated Team Flare at the Kalos Power Plant and watched Clemont relight the Lumiose Gym. Much like the rest of the city, it's depicted as urban compared to the other cities within the varied terrain throughout Kalos, and lacks any sort of elevation besides the large, multi-story buildings; much of which the player may enter. The player may walk past passerby's on the street without colliding into them. Small sections of grass with large trees occasionally crop up within the middle of the road, with lampposts lining the edges of the outer pavement. The inner path appears to be made out of a cobbled stone, whereas the outer is far smoother. A large billboard towards the Route 4 Gate features a loop of advertisements, spotlighting the Holo Caster, Gogoat riding, and the Champion of Kalos, Diantha. Looker himself writes in his notebook that South Boulevard is lacking in alleys when compared to the northern counterpart,[2] with many ending in a wide-open area.

South Boulevard featured in the Alola Photo Club

It, and the rest of Lumiose City were an inspiration for Wattson's redevelopment of Mauville City.[3] South Boulevard makes another appearance in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon's Alola Photo Club as one of the backgrounds the player can obtain if they have a Pokémon originally obtained in X and Y in their party; being taken opposite the Sycamore Pokémon Lab, featuring Vernal Avenue behind the player.[4]

A purple building where Trainer PR Videos can be created, located directly across from the South Boulevard Pokémon Center. PR Videos filmed here can be shared with passers-by and people who have been given the player's Nintendo 3DS Friend Code.

When the player reaches sufficient stylishness, the woman at the right counter will add new video effects for PR Videos. She will add two different sets: one if the player has at least 25 points of style, and the other for at least 90 points of style.

  3. When I was a kid, there was nothing around here. It was a very boring rural town. But one day, I heard that Wattson would start redeveloping this place modeled on a place called Lumiose. When I heard that, a lightbulb went on in my head, and I started buying up land around here. As a result, I’m now the owner of Mauville Hills. I can live very comfortably on the rental income.
