Tobias's Darkrai (Japanese: タクトのダークライ Takuto's Darkrai) is Tobias's main battling Pokémon and the first Pokémon that he was shown to have.
History
Prior to League Unleashed!, Darkrai easily defeated eight different Gym Leaders by itself, allowing its Trainer to enter the Lily of the Valley Conference. It made its debut in a flashback in League Unleashed!, where it was shown to have defeated a Trainer's Machamp.
In The Semi-Final Frontier!, Darkrai was the first Pokémon that Tobias used against Ash Lily of the Valley Conference semifinals. It countered Heracross's Hyper Beam with its Ice Beam and intercepted his Horn Attack by putting him to sleep with Dark Void. However, Heracross used Megahorn via Sleep Talk, which damaged Darkrai greatly. Despite this, he was knocked out when Darkrai hit him with Dream Eater, which in the process restored a portion of the Pitch-Black Pokémon's health. Its next opponent was Ash's Torkoal, who simultaneously had its Flamethrower overpowered and got knocked out by a single Dark Pulse. Darkrai later went up against Ash's Gible, who initially gave Darkrai trouble with Rock Smash, but knocked Gible out with a single Dark Pulse after dodging his Draco Meteor attack. Its fourth opponent was Ash's Sceptile, who Darkrai hit with Drakrai's Ice Beam before putting it to sleep with Dark Void and hitting it with Dream Eater, However, Sceptile woke up and struck Darkrai down with a powerful Leaf Blade and became the only Pokémon in the Sinnoh region to defeat Darkrai.
Darkrai was later seen defeating a Trainer's Magmortar, winning its Trainer the Lily of the Valley Conference.
Personality and characteristics
Living up to its status as a Mythical Pokémon, Darkrai is an incredibly powerful battler, easily defeating Gym Leaders, Sinnoh League participants, and half of Ash's team all by itself. The only seen exception to this was Ash's Sceptile, who managed to knock it out with a Leaf Blade.
