New design

Jello sent me a two new designs to my sandbox (which is linked at my talk page) for the rival issue for R/S and the other games and I already added a good one to Sections 1 and 4 for the walkthrough. Would you like to take a look at it? -Tyler53841 22:14, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

That looks pretty good. I think the first one looks better, with the extra box of color behind the sprites. The only thing that might present a problem is the "and" may fool people into thinking that it's a double battle. Other than that, I think it's definitely an improvement. --KC 4000 22:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
If the and could be taken out do you think that would work with either design to avoid the confusion.-Tyler53841 22:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's not a major problem, but switching "and" to "or" will probably be better in the long-run. --KC 4000 22:37, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
I also been working with reference tags as an alternative and my first test put it at the bottom below the box. -Tyler53841 22:41, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Wait, could you repeat that? I don't understand what you said, sorry. --KC 4000 22:51, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry I meant for a notes and references section though I doubt that will work. -Tyler53841 22:57, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

That's okay. You can try it, but if it ends up being too much hassle, we can just stick with the "and" for now. --KC 4000 23:01, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Probably too much hassle, but the and, as well as the different money postings will work for now. Anyway good luck with FR/LG, I'll deal with the updates to the others before I return to Ruby and Sapphire. On another subject, I think the other new design is more suited for something like Emerald and Platinum. -Tyler53841 23:06, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, don't worry about it, it's just a minor thing anyway. Thanks, it feels like I'm taking forever with FRLG, but I am actually working on it. I'm not quitting 'til I'm done! After that, I may start on Crystal, I haven't decided yet. Good luck on the rest of R/S. --KC 4000 23:10, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Planning things out

Nice to see you're working on FireRed and LeafGreen again. Since I do not have school related issues for a few weeks I'll be working on the walkthroughs as well. But the reason why I am sending this message, is to let you know my game plan for the walkthrough. Once I am doing reformatting the Diamond and Pearl Walkthrough I'll be tackling that as well as finish Ruby and Sapphire. If you are capable of it you can do Crystal, since I won't be able to do it myself. -Tyler53841 16:39, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I finally had my schoolwork slack off a bit. My goal is to have the rest of Fire & Leaf reformatted by Saturday. Actually, I'm pretty happy with my schedule next week: I can finally pick up my copies of Heart & Soul on Sunday, and I'm off for spring break all next week, so I'll be able to start on their guide right away. As long as the HG/SS guide doesn't get totally swamped with over-eager people after Sunday, I'll be happy. I'd like to do a quick run-through to get the info up as quick as possible since there's certain to be demand for it, but if too many people are changing things around then I will probably just type up everything I find in Notepad temporarily. Crystal and Emerald have been somewhat forgotten, but I plan to get through them in due time. There's only so many hours in the day, sadly. — KC 17:02, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Well my reformatting is almost done, and since I had an easy final (a writing class) which involved reformatting a previous paper (which is easy due to my wiki experience), I don't have much to worry about. But anyway I plan to keep HG/SS under surveillance and work on it myself if I need to. Pretty much when I am done wirh the Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl, I can also tackle Emerald and Platinum if needed. As for Crystal, I have no choice but to leave to you if are able to do it, especially if it were done then Generation I and II will be completed. If you want check out my Diamond/Pearl reformat.-Tyler53841 17:20, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, couldn't get much easier than that, right? Like I said, I'd like to whip through Heart & Soul as quick as I can, because to put it bluntly, I foresee messiness. If neither of us (or any other reliable member) get the jump on it, it could end up with a lot to be desired. I would love to get Crystal done too. Even though TTE had said he had a plan for it, I'd rather just throw the majority of the info up already. At least then, whatever he wanted to update/change is already there, rather than writing the whole page first. Sooner or later, Gen II will be done. :) — KC 17:37, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
After checking it out, personally I can say it is as far as Goldenrod City for the moment. But I know I have rush that far quickly in my game to keep up and then monitor all updates to detect any errors. But anyway as I said I can handle in main series handheld game except for Crystal. -Tyler53841 17:43, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Well, since I'm nearing the end of Fire & Leaf (I'm editing the page with Victory Road right now), I should be able to whip through the Elite Four and the other 4 islands by sometime tomorrow. That leaves me two or three days to see how far I can get in Crystal. I'll see how far I can get by the weekend, and once I pick up my games I'll jump back & forth until Crystal's done. Luckily, the majority of the info I can just copy & past from Gold & Silver, so that'll save a little time. — KC 17:57, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Nice work on Victory Road. But anyway of favor you can do for me is to use the same technique for the puzzle for the Sootopolis Gym on the Ruby/Sapphire walkthrough. I can predict that the reformat for D/P will be done tonight since most of it is done. -Tyler53841 18:13, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, with the ←→↑↓? No problem.
Yeah, if you could finish reformatting D/P soon, that would be great. — KC 18:19, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
After I get home a few hours later I will, and that is the last I need to say to you for now. -Tyler53841

Right now I am working on reformatting and if necessary making changes in the Gold and Silver walkthrough. But one thing I could use help perfecting is the design I have in mind to create a template similar to the Gym for the villain teams. If you get the chance try to improve the one for the Slowpoke Well. Also to this to your attention some of the HG/SS walkthrough pages got the stub notice. -Tyler53841 19:32, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I'll take a look at Slowpoke Well. I guess the stub notices are unavoidable for now. I'll have my copies tomorrow morning, so I can try to expand on what's there already. As for Fire & Leaf, the part on the last four islands is about as complete as I can make it by myself (I ran through Fire on my PC, and it wouldn't let me continue after beating the Elite Four), so anybody could help to expand it. — KC 19:55, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
I have the copies of both games and already took care of one thing to help move it along. If there are any problems then I can handle it. -Tyler53841 20:02, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
That would be great if you could, thanks. — KC 20:30, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Last section for FireRed/LeafGreen walkthrough

One thing I may need help with is the details for the Elite Four rematch in FireRed and LeafGreen since I can't preview my work due to the traffic. The rematch details will be the very last part for the walkthrough.

In case you don't know, the only requirement is completing the Ruby and Sapphire quest on the Islands since challenging the Elite Four again is not possible until Lorelei returns from Four Island which is after completing the whole linkup quest. As the summaries on the Elite Four and Blue the only changes are the addition of a few Johto Pokémon, and a few noteworthy moveset changes with one prime example being Lance's Dragonites.

I'm only letting you know about this is if there is a chance for you to do the work without having to rely on preview or if you get the opportunity first, then the details I provided will help you do the work if you can do it first. -Tyler53841 21:51, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Took care of it, so if you get the chance check it out and make your own edits if necessary. Also on the forum pages I think private messages are better if you wish to talk about page-related material instead of simple comments. -Tyler53841 23:37, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

A gift

One thing I will let you post for HG/SS is the Mulch table for the flower shop of Goldenrod which I made for the D/P walkthrough's Route 208 last night. I'll take is a few modifications and since I confirmed that the Mulch is at the same price as D/P/Pt then you can use that table for the HG/SS walkthrough. Heres the quick link DP Walkthrough Section. -Tyler53841 15:18, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

All done. Thanks. — KC 16:50, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Right, I'll let you deal with HG/SS by yourself while I'll handle D/P and at certain times R/S, to avoid getting in the way, though I'll still help out when necessary like I have done already. -Tyler53841 22:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Templates

Don't use color2. That is for things that use links. I've had to fix a ton of pages because you caused redlinks on the wanted pages. Use color. That's just to make words colored, not coloring links. MaverickNate 14:33, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

A question

The only real problem with the HG/SS walkthrough pages is that there is no Johto Safari Zone or Mt. Motar even though they are listed, so are you planning to do them later or something. -Tyler53841 15:42, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Don't worry, I'm on it. I left the Safari Zone as a placeholder, because I was still waiting for Baoba's call then. I put off the info for Mt Mortar because I wanted to get the Waterfall HM first, so I could reach the back room. I still need to get Rock Climb to reach a last item or two, but I'm working on it. I'm just about done with the page for the Elite Four, then I'm going to double-check my work for anything else I missed. — KC 15:49, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
All right I understand I just needed to know, as for me I've gotten up as far as the Cobble Badge on the D/P walkthrough, but due to schoolwork I can't do too much, but I will do some of my own work later. -Tyler53841 15:53, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Not a problem. If you were curious, this is where I'm headed:
 1. Beat the Elite Four, double-check the Indigo Plateau/Elite Four page I'm editing now, and save the page when the credits roll
 2. Put up the info for the Safari Zone & Mt Mortar
 3. Run through the Kanto half of the game
 4. Start working on the Crystal walkthrough when I finally finish with Heart & Soul (Crystal's the last game from Gens I & II that still needs work)
After that, I don't know. But if you need any help, I'll be happy to look over D/P when I've got time. Actually, Ruby/Sapphire is almost done - the latest page was on Sootopolis Gym. I don't know if you were still working on that, too, but I think it's just missing Pacifidlog Town & Ever Grande City. — KC 16:05, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I have actually been looking over the Diamond and Pearl walkthrough myself as it needs some major reworking. I just restarted my Diamond game so it should be pretty easy to check things with. As for the HeartGold and SoulSilver guide I would suggest checking out Drayano's Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Guide as he lists pretty much every item in every area you can find including the hidden ones that must be found with the Dowsing Machine. I think for National Park and the other similar areas we should just make a side quest section and categorize it under that as the National Park and the Bug-Catching Contest are sort of a unique thing. –MasterKenobi 16:20, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I'd had that same thought, actually. Well, I'm almost done working on Indigo Plateau/Elite Four, then I'll work on updating any Johto locations that I'd neglected. If you'd like to work through Diamond & Pearl, that would be a big help. I haven't played through the Sinnoh storyline in a while, so the best I could do there is only rewriting something to fix spelling/grammar/links, etc. — KC 16:28, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I will get to work on the Diamond and Pearl walkthrough then. I really do suggest checking out that guide that I linked to as it could become very useful, as well he covers pretty much every aspect in-game. –MasterKenobi 16:58, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
That's what I'm doing right now (and the Elite Four page).  ;) — KC 17:02, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

An Idea

Nice work on creating links to areas that can be fully explored later. I had a similar idea in mind a while back, but it also involved linking the first mention of the Dark Cave to the section where the full coverage is. Think that might help, since the only real goal for going into the Dark Cave that early in the game is to catch a Geodude to help battle Falkner. Other than the Dark Cave, there is also Sinnoh's Wayward Cave to consider as well. -Tyler53841 17:43, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. It's not so much of a problem in the older games really, but especially in HG/SS, with so many locations to work with, splitting it up like that made more sense than cramming all the extra info on one of the main walkthrough pages. Right now I'm skimming over the earlier HG/SS sections for any link, etc. issues before I move on to Kanto. Both of my versions are up to the SS Aqua, so it won't be too long before I add the first of the Kanto pages. — KC 17:48, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
The idea came to me for all sections that could be fully covered later, though unlike you are doing, it is more of creating a direct link to that part then create a separate page, though in the case of the Johto Safari Zone it would be acceptable (Had to clean up a small error on that page for you). But anyway, this is a way to help control how much material is put on a single page, since some parts cause too much memory to be put in which is why I sometimes don't use my usual 5 parts per page standard. -Tyler53841 17:54, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

One other thing which is very obvious is creating a separate page for the 21 rematches, with the 16 Gym Leaders, and the Elite 4 and League Champion, since this is larger and more complicated than FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald, and Platinum. -Tyler53841 00:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Randomness

Hi I am Slipknot Darkrai from pokemon.wikia.com. User:Slipknot Darkrai 13:39, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Um... hi? That's nice, but I have no intention of leaving Bulbapedia, so... yeah. — KC 17:54, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I heard you were blocked there. User:Slipknot Darkrai 13:55, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't remember if I was or not, and I don't really care. I haven't used that account or even visited that site in almost two years. — KC 17:59, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Crystal Walkthrough

Nice work with the Crystal walkthrough, one thing that I would like to suggest is that for it and for the necessary revisions of Gold and Silver that if you wish to some of the useful stuff that was left out of the guide for the Gold and Silver coverage can be put in.

One thing that I have researched on that will help is creating a template for Ho-Oh and Lugia on the Gold and Silver Guide, in a similar fashion to what I did for HeartGold and SoulSilver's coverage on Ho-Oh and Lugia's details to create one in their personal color scheme. My research was towards discovering the movesets from Generation II and I have successfully got what I need. I pretty much know what is missing and will be able to point it out if you need to. In other news since class is no longer an issue with me, I'm going to start speeding up on my own work for a few days. -Tyler53841 23:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

That's the plan, as I put the Crystal pages up, they'll look more akin to the Heart & Soul guide than the Gold & Silver one, at least in terms of visuals, templates, etc. When I did G/S, I knew a lot less wiki-coding, too, so the more time I spend on the project, the better they'll all look in the end. That was a good idea with Ho-Oh and Lugia's movesets, thanks for adding that. If you have any other thoughts or advice, I'll be happy to hear it. I'm taking a pair of summer classes until the end of June, but that shouldn't be a problem. My mom has started planning our vacation for the summer, too - it looks like I'll be away for about a week around the end of July. I'll see what I can get done for the project by then. =) — KC 19:04, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
You can also take a look at the HGSS walkthrough pages as well since some of the stuff I put will also help, like using Mareep or Geodude for battling Falker as an alternative to using the traded Onix and I also took care of adding the stuff for the Celedon Game Corner (Since most of its prizes are different for the ones in the Goldenrod Game Corner) and I'll also let you fix up the Gold and Silver ones and to make it less stressful for you I'll handle the re-organizing of the Gen. I games' walkthroughs. In other news it is possible to easily set up a tableset for the Gen. III legendaries For HGSS since the Prima Book which I used for the Lv. 70 Ho-oh! and Lugia should have their movesets. -Tyler53841 19:17, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Nice work finishing it up, there are a few flaws which I will help with, but one thing that you should know which is useful info is that a noteworthy difference between the Game Corners in every Johto-related game happens to be that the prizes in terms of Pokémon or TMs are completely different. Thought you should know this. -Tyler53841 19:19, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Actually, between GS & C, one Pokémon (Abra) stays the same, and the TM selection doesn't change at all. If you see that I missed anything, don't hesitate to fix something up. My free time's been spread thin lately, but I'm planning to check up on RB, Y, & GS to update the Trainer/PKMN/Items, etc if I haven't already. That will probably take me through the end of July, and I haven't decided what to focus on after I get back from vacation in early August. But any help is appreciated. — KC 19:28, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
What I meant was the item selection between both Game Corners, for example as the TM's in Generation IV where compared to Sinnoh, the ones in HG/SS were divided up with a portion going to Goldenrod Game Corner and the other half going to Celadon City even replacing a few that were prizes in Generation II. Also compared the differences in Pokémon, Crystals selection is different than the rest. While Abra is only available in every version in Goldenrod, Porygon is in the same case with the Celadon Game Corner. As I said the prize selection is divided up between the Game Corners so same gameplay but different prizes which is why I made the correction for the HG/SS guide. -Tyler53841 19:43, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

New Pokémon Template design

What do you think of the new design? -Tyler53841 17:37, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

It's certainly an improvement. I like that the time of day is coded into the header, so it's easy to call for the Gen II/IV games. The little image for the location (grass, cave, etc) was a nice addition. The bubble around the Pokémon icon added just a bit more color, too. Definitely better than the old boxy templates! — KC 17:47, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Right now I am helping the project move along, so I can copy/paste/modify it for the walkthroughs after it is over, which I have been working at for the past two days. I can say that the Sevii Islands, and Hoenn have been completed. That is also why I sent the message to you so you can be aware of whats happening. I even started the Emerald walkthrough just as this started. Here is a little gift Template:Catch with all the new coding and instructions if you need it. -Tyler53841 17:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
That's good to hear. I've been busy with Wars Wiki, but I have time today to update the walkthroughs' catch templates. Once I update RB/Y/GS/C, I'll be able to get moving on the newer games. If you're going to work on Emerald, that's great. I guess I'll focus on Diamond & Pearl later, then. — KC 18:08, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay, and once I get done with the Pearl game I am working on here, I'll personally do Platinum. If you have a chance to update any catch templates that still need work on the Route pages then go for it. -Tyler53841 18:11, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan. — KC 18:14, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Just so you know I am working on Sinnoh right now, I'll contact you when it is finished. Judging by the size it will take a day or two, depends on how many people are working on it. -Tyler53841 20:10, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Sinnoh's done, so you can start working with Diamond and Pearl when you are ready without dealing with as much hassle for template modification. -Tyler53841 23:29, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Pretty much everythings done now. You can handle, Red/Blue, Yellow, Gold/Silver, and Diamond/Pearl, while I'll take care updating the rest to the new template design. This is my last message on the subject.-Tyler53841 20:31, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Red/Blue Rescue Team

For the walkthrough above, there are sections for the Storyline and Post-Game dungeons. Should there be another section for the dungeons that don't contribute to the storyline and Post-Game? (Extra Dungeons). Super Ampharos 16:32, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Definitely. The project's goal is to be as in-depth as possible, so even the smallest dungeon deserves at least a mention. You can add a header for all the optional areas after the "Main Storyline" and "Post-Game" ones if you'd like. Thanks! — KC 10:00, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, this issue has been killing me. Super Ampharos 22:24, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Project sign-up

Sorry, it's pokabu82 again. I am VERY new, so I have a lot of questions. Please answer so I can join Project Walkthroughs.

1)To receive an answer about a question, do you need to make a new section on the talk page? I asked a question on another section, but I didn't know if you would see it. My question is on the bottom of the section called Project Walkhroughs.

I may ask questions a lot. Sorry.:( [[User:Pokabu82 17:03, 17 January 2011 (UTC

This user is mostly likely busy and probably hasn't checked his talk page yet. You can sign up for Project Walkthroughs on the project page, where you will see a list of users. You can sign up by typing ~~~~ at the bottom of the list. You don't need to ask to join. Hope that helps. Jellotalk 17:07, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I signed up for Project Walkthroughs. Can you check if I did it right? User:Pokabu82 19:01, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

It's not a problem - that's how you learn, by asking questions. Each separate conversation usually has its own section, to keep things organized. You've added your name to the others on the project page, so you're now a member. Thanks for joining - and thanks, Jello, for helping out. :) — KC 21:32, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Pokemon Ranger walkthrough

On the Pokemon Ranger:Guardian Signs walkthrough, some one grouped Mission 1 & 2 together. On the Project Walkthroughs page it says to group by mission. Can I change it to the two missions having their own section? And if I can, how do you change it? Also, do we need the prologue section; about the game before Mission 1 starts? User:Pokabu82 22:19, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Never mind. User:Pokabu82 01:20, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey, do you own the Pokémon Ranger games? I think I'm the only one doing the walkthroughs. I have a lot of homework currently, so sometimes I don't have time. Also, I'm writing a book, so I have limited relaxation. I think we only have one paragraph! ONE!!! Got Something

During my 4-month vacation period I found something that can be used for the HeartGold and SoulSilver walkthrough. -Tyler53841 02:08, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

I already posted my response on the forum and it is also something that I already posted on it's related pages anyway. -Tyler53841 15:49, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
