Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Rabby250!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Card images

Hey there! Thanks for creating the page on Victory Symbol. I thought you would want to know, if you leave the image= completely blank, it will put the card into Category:Pokémon cards in need of images. But, that doesn't happen whenever anything is put into the field. Luckily, the official site uploaded images today, so it was more temporary than expected! MaverickNate 12:15, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Ah thanks for the tip, gonna try that out if I have to create a page with no available card image again. --Rabby250 (talk) 01:43, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

SV-P Promo list

I used the what we did in S-P Promotional cards (TCG) as a guide for the edit, there we use the small print in the title in 2 scenarios: the subtitle is written on the card (which is really just Boss's Orders and Professors Research), or if the card is printed with a unique stamp, but we didn't use it to distinguish the different artworks of "Victory Proof"... I think its important to at least maintain some kind of consistency between lists and idk but as far as I know theres no standard so then I just like to default to what was done before unless there is good reason to change it.

Then there is the issue of dates, you removed it from victory symbol, but not from from 037/SV-P to 043/SV-P which are basically the same type of tournament card that are handed out at every tournament this year, so either we show a date there or we dont either we agree that all dates shown are the distribution ranges (which can have undefined end dates for the promos linked to products) or we just use it as a way to show when the card entered legal circulation which I think is best but either way the worst thing we can do is to be inconsistent about it which is what we currently are doing.-- 4iamking (talk) 23:08, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the messages. The small text as Maverick Nate pointed out in edit history is "listed when more than one print shares a number", which is basically what I followed. (There's actually an additional use case though, which was to note that a card was announced but never issued, as seen in BW-P Promotional cards (TCG).) Based on the definition, although Victory Symbol had different artworks, they do share the same name on the same slot, and thus having print distinguishers appended is reasonable.
I also saw your changes regarding Nemona which I didn't add artwork description in the first place due to the exact same reason - I once added small text to Eevee 031 to 033, but the change was reverted by Maverick Nate as they're on different slots and thus don't need one.
As for the dates, 037/SV-P to 043/SV-P had the dates kept as their prints are consistent across all distributions. Victory Symbol however is a peculiar case as each copy has its venue printed on the card, and thus (strictly speaking) doesn't have all its variations distributed on the same day. I agree that having a standard may be helpful, but until we had the standards covering cases like this (there are actually more such as early Gym packs whose first distributions weren't identified) I would prefer not listing them as the information can be controversial.--Rabby250 (talk) 00:15, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
Admittedly its not the kind of card I ever expect to see a authentic copy of in person, but from what I can tell from pictures on the internet such as this and this, its hard to see any sort of venue being mentioned, only difference between the different ones that I can find is the logo gets updated to the year and the frame its awarded can change depending on the tournament. -- 4iamking (talk) 00:45, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
Ah nevermind Im dumb, I see now but it's not something new either, they've done it in the past as well. I still think adding the small text to it is something we haven't done in the XY-P (Victory Ring), SM-P (Victory Decoration), or S-P (Victory Proof) promos so either we go back and do that or we drop it from the SV-P list, and given that we generally dont label alt arts and the tournament placement needed to get the card is given already cause we write that in the promotion box, id just continue with what we've done in the past. - unsigned comment from 4iamking (talkcontribs)
