Make sure that your accounts were correctly remerged when I reunified them after the rename. That means that you need to login at Archives and News to reset it. TTEchidna 03:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Amphy vs Sparkle
I know its name is Amphy. Regardless of a dubbing error, however, Sparkle is "canon" if the name was used consistently through the show. And if the reference to it is anime-based (like Myron's article), then Sparkle should be used in context if the English writers didn't do a turnaround like they did "Harlan" and "Isabella" for Tabitha and Shelly. ArcToraphim 19:14, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Game takes president over the dub. It's Amphy. End of story. -Sketch 19:51, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- No one's asking to rename the article. But it's incorrect to list it as Amphy in anything anime related when it's not called Amphy in the dub. An error it might be, but the name still exists in anime canon AS its name. Game canon might take precedent, but it's a name of a minor character overall and should be left as "Sparkle" on Myron's at the very, very, very basic least. Because it wasn't called Amphy in the anime (unless you say it was later on). ArcToraphim 19:58, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's name in Japan is Akari. Sparkle was an error. It's name is Amphy no matter what. Leaving it on Myron's page would create an inconstancy within the 'pedia. It's staying Amphy. -Sketch 20:35, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- No it doesn't. It actually makes the article inconsistent to call Amphy "Amphy" in an anime article, because it wasn't called Amphy in the anime. The episode page for EP208 lists Amphy as "Sparkle". The episode pages for AG027 list Harlan and Isabelle instead of Tabitha and Shelly. The Legend of Thunder! lists Eugene instead of Eusine. Why is it wrong to call Amphy Sparkle when the anime does, erroneous or not? The point is to be encyclopedic. Sparkle is used in the anime, making it a form of canon, thus should be mentioned where it is correct to mention it. Trying to "hide" a fact doesn't make it untrue. ArcToraphim 20:57, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's not being hidden. Amphy's page says due to an error, it was Sparkle in the dub. No one else has a problem with it. An error is wrong. Why would you use an error on purpose? -Sketch 20:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Why can't you when it sticks with the media in question? So it's wrong. It still makes more sense to go by what the dub gives you in a dub-related article than to use what the game gives you for a dub-related article. And anyone clicking on "Sparkle" will learn that it's not the name used in the game anyway and an overall oversight by the anime translators, so where's the problem in issuing a dub name against what another dubbed character uses? ArcToraphim 23:34, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Professor Ivy image
I'm asking you this since you're the highest authority when it comes to images. Anyway, I have a replacement for the Professor Ivy image since cropped vertical images aren't good.
Would this be a good replacement? Chocolate 01:39, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

- If used in the articles for the episode or movie that the screenshot was derived from, avoid trimming the image. Screenshots for episodes should be 320x240, or failing that, in another 4:3 ratio. Screenshots for movies should be 426x240, or failing that, in another 16:9 ratio, assuming the movie is in widescreen format. If the screenshot is used in another article, such as a character profile, trimming is allowed to focus the image on the article's subject.
- Episode screenshots should be as informative about the episode as possible. The best screenshots focus on major characters, depict the plot or major events of the episode, and display the episode's animation quality. (Pikastorm 18:34, 2 November 2008 (UTC))

Hocus Pokmon
What I put up here is something I need help with. Since I can't change pix without permission, I've decided to ask you. On the left is a low-quality pic of Lily holding Pikachu. This is currently used for Hocus Pokémon.
On the middle are two good pix that are good quality.
Which pic is the best to put in Hocus Pokémon?
Juan Sanfiel Pray excuse my scrawl 3:25 PM EST 11/9/08
- The last picture of Lily is the better of the two. However...could you get an image that is more about the episode and less about the COTD? Maybe them looking for ingredients or them looking at the pot. Something like that. -Sketch 20:45, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I could only find these... so should I put the one on the right? Juan Sanfiel Pray excuse my scrawl 5:22 pm EST November 9, 2008

Redundant image?
On Crasher Wake's Floatzel, should we get rid of the infobox image and move the Ice Fang image into the infobox? The reason why I think we should do this is because an image of a Pokémon using a move is more important than it doing nothing. Plus, both show the exact same amount of body, so that's not a problem. So, should we do what I asked? P.S. I asked you this rather than asking TTE since you're of a higher authority when it comes to images. Chocolate 18:14, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- No, the infobox image should be a clear image of a Pokémon with no obstructions whatsoever. If you're going to replace any image, replace the attack. Doesn't Floatzel use Aqua Jet? -Sketch 19:09, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Ice Jet
There's a discussion about the removal of Ice Jet from Moves not in the Pokémon games going on on the talk page. Since you removed it from the article, I felt you may be interested in the discussion. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 23:53, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

- But what about if people want to see the differences? Chocolate (Chat with Me) 22:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
We have the move images on articles for a reason: So people can see what the move looks like without needing to have the game. If we force people to buy a Gen. III game just to see what the move looks like in that generation, we may as well not have any game image of the move. Chocolate (Chat with Me) 22:33, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- We have no need for outdated images. Period. Old sprites have their uses but we don't need images of attacks that have better visuals elsewhere. -Sketch 22:44, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- (EC) In that case, why don't we have images of every generation for every move?
- Rhetorical question; it's because we just don't need it. People don't come to Bulbapedia to see which moves look the coolest, or to look up exactly what sort of flames Flamethrower had in the different generations; they want to know what the move does, and what can learn it. The image itself isn't even remotely necessary in the first place, we simply have the most recent (gen.4) screenshot for reference. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:45, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

It isn't the end of the world of the images are in JPG. You shouldn't threaten to ban anyone over it. They're just trying to help. It clearly states on the archives that JPG is an acceptable format. It isn't mandatory, just preferred. Also you need to take into account that some users may not know how to convert an image to PNG.
Oh and just so you know, I upload JPGs all the time and no ones said anything. I don't always feel like opening up Photoshop to change a picture to PNG format for a difference in quality that is barely noticeable. I feel as long as they don't suck, then it shouldn't be bothered with. --ケンジのガール 10:47, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- What's the point of having the rule if you don't enforce it? -Sketch 11:05, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Rules
People who know rules know perfectly that we don't put unconfirmed info and names in the Bulbapedia. If they don't, they're probably vandals and should be banned (or reverted, if they're just new and not very familiar with Bulbapedia). There's really NO need to protect so many pages for so long. The people KNOW the rules. At your logic, every page should be protected because a random vandal who wants to move/blank/vandalize it may appear. --Maxim 14:23, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Can I replace By Your Side ~Hikari's Theme~ image with one of these?
Lindsayoris15 22:51, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- Nope...I like the image we have now...it does need to be updated with a better version though...and remember. PNG. -Sketch 22:59, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Can I replace tHIS image with one OF THESES?
Lindsayoris15 23:22, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- I love the one on the right...but according to policy, it has to be PNG. -Sketch 23:54, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Where's the proof needed for Professor Rowan's neck and ear are the same color as his hair.
You undo my trivia saying that was speculation and what is this direct admittance your taking about? Yami 04:44, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations from SharKing!
You, Sketch, have been selected to choose this week's Pokémon of the Week! Make the edit on my page! SharKing Productions 02:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
What the hell is your deal?
You think I have absolutely can't tell the difference between a good picture and a bad picture? Okay, yeah I was wrong about the Tyler and Piplup one. The whole episode I had was colored that way so I thought it was right, okay. I admit that. I'm sorry.
To me, there is nothing wrong with the Ash and Cyndaquil picture. I don't know what artifacts you are talking about. All I see are Ash and Cyndaquil in a gym. Oh and for the record, I did look at the larger image to make sure it was okay and I didn't see anything wrong with it. I'm sorry I don't have your perfect vision.
Do you like to belittle people? If you hate all the pictures here then why don't you just replace all the pictures yourself so they are up to your standards instead of expecting others to do it? Cause apparently no one else's opinion matters to you. I uploaded a lot of images to Bulbapedia and for you to say that I have a terrible eye for pictures is just a blow to the gut. Thanks a lot. --ケンジのガール 13:58, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- My job is mostly to denote which pictures need replaced and which ones are fine. In our discussions on AIM, which I suggest you take part in some time, I am most attributed to image quality. I am a graphic designer, I deal with image quality ALL THE TIME. I'm going to school for stuff like this. All of us have something we bring to the proverbial table. Mine happens to be images and image quality. I'm sorry if you're offended; but how do you think I feel when you remove my bad image tags? Don't you think that offends me?
- Lets take a look at the image on Ash's Cyndaquil. An artifact is "visual defect" that makes the picture look odd and misrepresented. Lets look at Cyndaquil's head and flames, Ash's entire body, and general spots here and there in the background. See how it's messed up? That's a digital artifact. So, like I have said before...but I'll make this a bit better. I know what I'm doing, so please step aside.
- And I do replace some images I put the tag on, I can't just pull Johto series screencaps out of my ass, hon. That's why I can't replace them all. -Sketch 14:08, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- No I won't "step aside". You are not the boss of me, even if you think you are. Most of these supposite "visual defects" you keep referring to aren't even noticable. Most of the time, the images are thumbnailed. No one can tell the difference between a lower quality image with a higher quality picture. You need to admit that your standards are unreasonably high. You're making the other users afraid to upload anything. And for someone who claims to be an image specialist, I rarely see you submit anything images of your own. What I see you doing most of the time is labeling pictures as crap. And you say that your feelings are hurt because some remove your bad picture tags? I'd hardly call that a comparison to telling someone who took the time to look around and find images to stay out of the way.
- I rarely upload things but I still upload stuff. If you want me to see this from your perspective, you need to see this from mine and that is that I see things that are wrong with images that you can't. I never meant I was upset over removing the tag, I am offended that you would go behind my back and remove them.
- And it is true while you can't see digital artifacts when they're minimized via thumbnail, they're still there. Like, for example, the PNG version of Ash's Cyndaquil you just uploaded. Please note the circles contain the artifacts in question:
See? that's just to name a few that I saw right away. Those shouldn't be there. And this may not be an art studio, but I still work here to make this place a valuable source of information. My being an "Image Specialist" doesn't mean that I need to be uploading a ton of images, I can just see when an image needs to be replaced.
I am sorry you are so offended by this, if something needs replaced then it needs replaced, there's no avoiding that. -Sketch 14:46, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- But would an untrained eye see these "artifacts"? I have no special knowledge of Images, and I can see only one or two small things wrong with that photo, and even with those, it doesnt ruin the photo for me. While a replacement would be nice, it shouldnt be deleted if their isnt a duplicate finer image ready to takes it place IMODCM((Mock MeEdits)) 14:49, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- That's what the tag is for. To notify that the image needs replaced. Replace does not mean 'delete and have nothing until a better image is found.' -Sketch 14:50, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- But it shouldnt be labeled as a "bad" image when in actuallity its perfectly fine unless you specialize in this sort of thing. Seriously, its only noticable because the one time ive had a Digital Design class on this thats what we were tested on spotting. Its fine to the rest of us. Shouldnt the Bad image tag be saved for really, really bad images?DCM((Mock MeEdits)) 14:53, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's not perfectly fine. If there are problems then there are problems. -Sketch 14:54, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- But those problems dont need a Bad image tag. *is their an offical bulbapedia policy stating whether an image is bad? Written by an unbiased source, of course.*. The image is fine to use as of now. If a better image pops up, then use it. But the imperfections are so small that their not noticable unless your trained to notice them.DCM((Mock MeEdits)) 14:59, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- They're not small if you can see them though! That's EXACTLY what the tag is for. To notify that the image isn't as good as it could be and should be replaced when a better image is found. -Sketch 15:02, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

- This is a wiki, not an art studio. All that matters is that we display a decent picture.
- Thats pretty much the point im trying to make. Do we need picture perfect images? No, we just wish we could. and that image downsized brings those "artifacts" out of focus and makes them unseeable. not needed in my pointDCM((Mock MeEdits)) 15:05, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

- By that logic it's still flawed and could still be 'better. How different is adding the tag to an image that I can't replace to someone saying they don't have all the information so they need someone else to add it? -Sketch 15:31, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

- Because the image is not unsatisfactory, the image is fine, unless your trained to spot flaws. - As I see it, we have basically unlimited disk space on this server. The only real problem with 'better' files is that they may be larger, and that, in turn, could cause loading issues for people with slower internet connections. I see what Sketch is talking about--you should probably provide comparison images, Sketch, but his basic point is that colors and angles aren't very well-defined on the pictures in question. Returning to the original point, though, my main concern would be load time, not an issue of size on the server. -- evkl (need to talk?) 16:51, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I can see that there is no changing your mind. The only one that thinks the pictures are unsatisfactory is yourself. What you are asking for is unresonable, especially when it comes images from the older anime. The graphics weren't as clear as they are now. You can't expect us to wave a magic wand and make them perfect quality to please you. We do are best. And you labeling them as shit is disrespectful for the users who do their very best to make Bulbapedia complete. I'm an artist as well you know. I do like my pictures to be of perfect quality. But I realize that it can't always be the case for anime screenshots. You are never going to be happy with decent pictures and only want ridiculously perfect pictures.

- Everything you pointed out with the Cyndaquil image ARE NOT noticable when viewing Cyndaquil's page. And I did not go behind your back and remove them. Everything on this wiki is visible to others. Is it because I didn't tell you I was doing it? Well you remove a ton of things I put up without consulting me first. To your definition, I'd say that's going behind my back. And you'll probably argue that what I added as not needed. Well I think that your image changes are not needed. You like to tell others that they're edits are not needed but you can't stand it when it's the other way around. Not everyone sees things your way. Cope with it.
- It's a safe guess that your concern is how the article itself looks right? Well how good are they going to look with this pink tag running across the top demanding a picture change when the picture itself is decent? You need to realize that what you think is bad is not bad in the eyes of others. Most people visiting are not going to give a damn what quality the pictures are. They're here to look up the information. Instead of worrying about the images being perfect, maybe you should help out with fixing up the articles instead of going to them and removing content or putting a "bad picture" template on them. But what ever. --ケンジのガール 20:38, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
At this rate, none of the pictures are going to be picture perfect quality. Because there would always be flaws, minor or not. Jmath 21:04, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hey guys, guess what. We're trying to improve things here. If that includes getting new, better screencaps than the ones we've had since Bulbapedia started, then you know, we really should. Everything's able to be increased in quality, and yes, that picture does have artifacting, but not as much as some of our others do. cough cough. That tag is to be put on articles which have pictures that could be better. Plus... Cynda's fire looks a bit weird in that shot. TTEchidna 22:25, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- But this image is like the third. replacement from the first one we had. How are we to improve when every picture we get is marked as bad. I can't believe, TTEchidna, that you're for wasting time changing images which such petty flaws when we should focus on expanding information... --ケンジのガール 22:52, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- The Ginyu Force has been called in to settle this. First off, not every picture we get is marked as bad. Not by a long shot. Secondly, pictures are an important part of the wiki and should always be replaced with better pix when possible. I created the template, and it deserves use. --ニョロトノ666 23:54, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

You're very welcome! I was just looking through the Category:Articles in Need of Better Pictures (or whatever it was. XD) and I decided to go find them. I was a little confused as to whether upload them as PNG or JPEG, but I chose PNG. I'm glad it was the right choice. If I can, I'll definitely upload more! ^_~ シンジShinjiLover,Edits 01:44, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Dawn's Buneary
You have reverted my edit saying the Dawn's Buneary didn't weak a vest in yesterday's episode...well, you're right...that's because it didn't appear in yesterday's episode. But it does in next week's episode and in that episode, it actually wears a vest....so am I right about that?--☆Tavisource 00:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- No, TODAY'S episode. With Team Rocket. You said it wears the vest all the time. It doesn't. -Sketch 00:13, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
