It evolves into Ulgamoth starting at level 59.

Meraruba can spit fire from its five horns as a defensive tactic.

Behavior

Meraruba keep predators away by shooting fire from its horns.

Habitat

Meraruba live at the feet of volcanoes.

Trivia

• Out of all Pokémon that evolve by a set level, Meraruba evolves later than any other Pokémon who have not yet evolved, at level 59.
• Meraruba and its evolved form have a unique type combination.
  • This makes them the only non-Flying-type Pokémon to have a double weakness to Template:Type2 moves.
• As of Generation V, Meraruba is the last Pokémon in the National Pokédex that evolves into another Pokémon.

Origin

Meraruba appears to be based on an Atlas moth larvae. The way its red growths are shaped and positioned on its circular body may be a reference to the sun.

Name origin

Its name may come from "meramera" (flare), and "larva".
