== High use templates ==
I understand your interest in letting us know we need to protect some templates, but never '''NEVER <big><big><big><big>NEVER</big></big></big></big>''' edit a high use template. '''EVER'''. If you wanted to warn us that they needed to be protected, you do it on the talk page or contact a staff member. By editing the template itself, the server stress spikes enough  that you actually crashed our servers for a few minutes. That's why they are supposed to be protected. I don't know why those templates weren't protected, but editing them was absolutely the wrong thing to do. -- '''[[User:MAGNEDETH|<span style="color:#000033;">MAG</span>]][[Special:Contributions/MAGNEDETH|<span style="color:#696969;">NE</span>]][[User talk:MAGNEDETH|<span style="color:#000033;">DETH</span>]]''' 00:07, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
==Tournament Pages==
Those pages that were added to be moved, have terrible names and are very confusing.  Also adding Tournament to the headings on the [[Pokémon World Tournament]] page was redundant. Why don't you take a chill pill for a little while? '''[[User:Lady Ariel|<span style="color:magenta">Lady</span>]] [[User talk:Lady Ariel|<span style="color:orange">Ariel</span>]]''' 22:18, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
:Officialy, the tournaments are titled that (though if you want to use the original names until they are released in English, that's fine. They could also be moved to a location without Tournament.) I was unsure whether or not to remove "Tournament" from Mix and Rental due to their short names. I decided to add them, which as I can see now, was failed logic. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 22:24, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

== Sorry ==
I do use preview a lot and I'm trying to do it more, it's just that there are small errors on separate pages.  Plus I sometimes make some small errors that I don't catch at first haha or I think of a better way of wording something and have to go back...  I'm trying to not clog it up by tagging them as minor edits, you can block those on the recent changes.
Sorry again. [[User:Mrbrooks2013|Mrbrooks2013]] ([[User talk:Mrbrooks2013|talk]]) 23:20, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

==Help me==
Bulbapedia is not displaying properly for me anymore. I don't know if you could help, but the display problems have made you the only person I could get to their page to ask for help from, since you had posted on mine. When I got on, my computer asked to open some file from this site, but it couldn't figure out how to open it. It said something about being the index, whatever that means. :First, as I stated in my edit summary that you probably did not see, [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Curtis&curid=168663&diff=1797752&oldid=1797751 most of it] was speculation. Next, read the {{bp|manual of style}}. We don't use use the words "you" or "your", and this quote:

==Can you help me?==
I want to revert the Lady's overworld sprite to the current version that you uploaded on Bulbagarden Archives on Bulbapedia. It isn't syncing. I suppose that you have or know someone who has permission to make that edit. Thanks in advance. I apologize because this is my first time using that program that you suggested. :Wait. The cache takes a while. And if you didn't notice, I had fixed it by the time I posted that message. I recommend using the "Magic Wand" in the toolbox to select the white, than press "Delete" to delete it. You can press Ctrl+Shift+R to adjust the size to 32x32. Hope you can understand. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 19:29, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

So, even though the white background still appears white on the Bulbapedia version of the file, it'll go away, right? It just takes a long time to sync? I tried emptying my cache and it's still white. [[User:Dialgafan1|Dialgafan1]] ([[User talk:Dialgafan1|talk]]) 19:34, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

== Previewing ==
Hi, I see your working on a template in your userspace. While we're more lenient about breaking the userspace edit limit for pages that will be in the mainspace, you've made 7 edits to your userspace today. This can easily be fixed by previewing a bit more instead of saving over and over. Please keep this in mind during future editing, but keep up the good work you've been doing lately. Thanks. :Really sorry. My browser ends up refreshing some of the pages I work on, so I end up having to do all the work again; and in that rush, I end up having hit "save" way too much. == Sorry...Little Help Though? ==
I thought I was editing my Userpage instead of my Talkpage. I have edited some articles already though and still cannot edit my Userpage and was just wondering if you could tell me what exactly I need to do to be able to edit my Userpage. Thanks! {{unsigned|SupermercadoMedia}}
:To edit your userpage, you need to be '''autoconfirmed'''. To become autoconfirmed, you must meet two criteria. One, you must be a registered user who has been registered for a certain amount of time. Two, you also must make a secret amount of edits to the Main namespace, which consists of all pages that do not have a prefix (not Category:, Talk:, or any other). After you become autoconfirmed, you can edit the userspace, but you still must adhere to the userspace policy. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 02:07, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

== Thanks! ==
Looks like the page now works as intended.  For my future understanding, based on looking at your edits, I guess the number (1, 2, 3, etc.) in those triple curly brace bits is an indicator of the portion that I'm editing for?  (For instance, in 025|Pikachu|Electric, 3 would reference "Electric" for where it goes in the template.)  I noticed the 7 changed to a 1, for instance, and that's now working.  It seems that's really the bit that was getting me there, and explains to me why, in double type situations, you might see 4 and 5 at the same time (and now seems clear why 5 was turning into "Unknown" type).  I should know that after creating another copy of [[List of routes]] and changing some of those numbers (I haven't continued that project yet), but this is the first time I've tried adding to a template and changing something else in it and that went right out of my mind.  Thanks for the help!  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 21:27, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
:Yup, that's how the unnamed parameters work. I took out the <nowiki>{{{7|}}}</nowiki> parameter, because it didn't seem to be used, and the if statement said "if parameter 7 is blank, show nothing, else show 1", which didn't seem useful at all. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 21:33, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

==Exeggcute==
Concerning your recent edits on [[Exeggcute]]: [[Headbutt (move)/Wild Pokémon]] can't mean that all of those Pokemon are found in all of those locations, as I took you to mean. I am a prolific headbutter and I can attest that [[Hoothoot]] is very common in [[Ilex Forest]] and never appears in [[Azalea Town]] (in Crystal), for example. And after 100+ times, I'm beginning to doubt whether Exeggcute appears in Crystal at all. --[[User:Snorri|Snorri]] ([[User talk:Snorri|talk]]) 03:32, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
:Right after I reverted the change, I noticed that on the Headbutt page's {{redlink|Talk:Headbutt (move)/Wild Pokémon|talk page}} said that the page was also probably wrong, but the link it references seems to be down. {{u|Crystal Talian}} was the [[Special:Diff/2254729/prev|first to revert]] your changes, prior to me [[Special:Diff/2254729/next|changing it back]] and [[Special:Diff/2254736/next|reverting my edit back]]. I don't have a copy of {{game|Crystal}} to check myself, but I'd try and change all the pages at once rather than leaving some corrected and some not. == Whoops ==
I just noticed that was you replying, not Berrenta.  My mistake.  My first time creating my own switch on any Wiki (instead of just editing some, like when I went through and updated some move tables with OR/AS), so I'm kinda stoked that it works now and didn't notice who was replying. LOL  I am just trying to decide on the proper implementation now that it works and, like I said in my reply, was testing tooltips in a rare example where they might serve a purpose, but I think describing the type order and the mechanics would still be a good thing to do on the page in addition to this, possibly under the Pokémon table for the Bastion of Beginnings section.  What do you think?  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 01:28, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
:Just a note—the purge clock is per-page and must be clicked on each individual page you want to refresh. For the implementation, I would leave the form change explanation for prose and just have the change in minisprite in the encounters table. I'd also leave a note on the talk page that it changes. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 01:41, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
::I didn't think about the minisprite.  I'll see what I can do with that as I need to check all of the minisprite data to put in another version of the switch.
::So you suggest just updating the minisprite only and not the text to say, for instance, "Poison" instead of "Normal"?  I've been thinking putting the explanation before the Pokémon list might be the way to go, so both can be updated in the table without further explanation as that point; it wouldn't make sense for readers to see a Fairy Arceus minisprite and a Normal-type because, when it's caught in the game, it's specifically only Fairy-type (not Normal at all, it's damaged like any other Fairy type by Poison).  I'm looking at both the Fighting and Flying Arceus in my list right now, in fact, and they only show as those types.
::For cases where mechanics are being described like this, I might start creating sub-sections in the stage sections in question; others don't need sub-sections.  Shaymin, Genesect, and Unown apparently do things like this, too, and there may be others, so I'll be doing research once I'm done collecting Arceus (I can do a timing stop at any time, plenty of Diamonds, and Entrance is perfect for Unown so only 1 Diamond per revisit if I decide to stall there).  The tooltip experiment I am doing in the sandbox can be disregarded as I'm just playing with nesting functions to try things out; it doesn't hurt to keep that in there in case I have errors with something in the future.  I hate tooltips anyway. LOL  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 01:54, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
All right.  Arceus apparently doesn't have mini-sprites for every type according to [[Talk:List of Pokémon by National Pokédex number/Archive 1#Question|this archived discussion from 2008]].  If they exist, I don't see them in the Arceus category at Archives at all, and don't know what minisprite category they are in.  If we're going to change minisprites in the table, I need to know where they all are and what filenames they have so I can work them into a separate switch.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 03:05, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
:The page doesn't show Pokémon types in the table, so I guess a little <small>({{type|Dragon}})</small> or something under the name would work. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 03:49, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
::That can work.  I still think switches in both columns is ideal since the description of why will have already happened.
::One more thing.  Given my new image-posting skillz, I might be able to make a post to Miiverse and just post a bunch of screenshots of Pokémon sprites.  Why?  [https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHj3XACtpw We should be using these eventually, IMO.]  If we can grab and upload all of these and have a base Miiverse post to look at and reply to with more pictures (the post will be dead anyway after about, oh, 15 minutes LOL), then we can just post screenshots of every sprite a few at a time, and do an image-ripping project.  I'm also wondering if we have the full-size Pokémon as they appear under Captured Pokémon when you select one; that's another project of interest for sprites.  The bonus is that we'd have all 18 Arceus sprites in the game as I plan to catch them all over the next 15 days (I have three, obviously); the minus is I'm frozen until I get them because I'm spending three Diamonds at a time on stage revisits, so I can't go out hunting anything else right now.  At least we can try the new sprites with the Bastion of Beginnings table once I verify I have everything else in the other sections.  A nice bonus is that someone replied with a picture of his own Arceus toys, and Fairy's there (#18, remainder 17), so I have two weeks exactly to go.
::Also, gotta remind myself that someone wanted a cage picture for the article.  [https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHj3QHITqw Took that, too], so I've gotta upload that.  Wanted to use a Pokémon found early, not a late one.  Though I did [https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHj3QZUgrg trap Arceus] just for shiggles.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 04:03, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
:::Miiverse is a terrible way to get images. All posted images are JPEGs, and so are not of ideal quality. It's fine (but still not ideal) for full-screen images, but for minisprites I wouldn't bother uploading them to the Archives unless you have a capture card or if someone rips them, because eventually someone will have to replace it. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 04:28, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
::::Ah, I wondered what format they were (trying to save from a Web browser actually doesn't tell you).  So if those would be insufficient, fine, that's one project I won't worry about for now.  Maybe I can find some capture card people (streamers basically) willing to take off-stream video of their collections for minisprite purposes.  What's the ideal quality?  360, 480, 720, 1080p?  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 04:48, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
:::::You need to make sure they take their screenshots at native quality (400x480 pixels for both screens). Any other size will distort the image. Additionally, most video formats are lossy (the JPEGs of video) because videos are generally too huge for lossless video, so you'll want proper, PNG format, screenshots. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 04:55, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

:::::::Well, that's going well so far.  Might have to find Youtube video posters and send messages instead, as there are no Twitch channels live on the game.  I think streamers grew bored with it and moved on to paid content that doesn't limit their play.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 05:26, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Someone at GameFAQs just suggested to get my images off the camera function.  I didn't think the camera would take the bottom screen of the 3DS, but even if it does, is the image quality of those pictures likely to be sufficient?
If you have a N3DSXL - and maybe it works with a normal 3DS as well - try [http://www.nintendo.com.au/new-nintendo-3ds/support/microsd-management/ this guide] to connect and grab images if you're not sure.  I'll be trying it later, myself, after everyone's in bed and there's no other network traffic here, but you'd know if the quality is good enough, so that's why I'm asking you as well. =)  I suspect the quality is better than Miiverse, however, or can be set in menus before going into games.  It's just that bottom screen for taking sprites, but at least the upper screen can be used for other images of [[Toy Pokémon]] (like on "Captured Pokémon").  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 22:23, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
:The 3DS camera also saves pictures using the JPEG file format, and saves in-game screenshots in that format as well, such as the images taken during a Contest Spectacular in ORAS. It'll be roughly the same quality as through Miiverse. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 22:27, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
::Is the quality identical to or better than Miiverse?  Can't believe Nintendo brought in the camera concept and didn't think about image format, or decided 3,000 crappy-quality photos was better than 1,000 decent-quality ones.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 00:22, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
:::I wouldn't know too much about the quality, but a JPEG is still a JPEG. The Nintendo 3DS Camera application can only display JPEGs anyway, so it can't view a theoretical PNG file saved by the system (unless Nintendo decides to system update). --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 00:28, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
::::I guess it becomes a question of whether the lower quality will suffice for the purpose.  I'd suggest, because of the fact that it's not going to be zoomed in (unless someone visits the Archives page for each one), that it might work.  I did find that the bottom screen DOES get taken (man, I wish I realized this while working on those pages!); in fact, both get taken at the same time, so I had a lot of images of the four buttons visible in the courtyard (now deleted) with other images I was going to '''try''' to upload to Miiverse before I knew how it works.  (I redid some courtyard ones, anyway. LOL)  Wouldn't it still be worthwhile to at least start the Rumble World minisprite project and get something up - like the many Arceus minisprites - or are we going to let it sit there with no one else thinking about it?  I'd rather have someone update them two years from now than have nothing there for it.  I could get, from a quick count, 156 of them literally right now from the list.  I can make a few and post them on Archives to Sandbox in a table test, perhaps.  Unless you already tried the minisprites, of course.
::::I also saw that the single existing Arceus minisprite started off as a lower-quality one in 2007, then again in 2008, until Masatoshi got a higher-quality 1 KB one in 2014, so even though capture cards make PNG screenshots a thing, I find that those users usually try to do video streaming and such instead, not take pictures for an online encyclopedia.  I do have a request to a Youtuber's e-mail, however.  If I get a positive response, my screenshots will not be needed. LOL  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 01:02, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
:::::I guess you could try getting some icons now, but I wouldn't upload them until the YouTuber you contacted replies or in a few days if they don't. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 02:10, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
::::::Exactly, I'm going to give two days.  After that, I might upload a few to tinker with in the sandbox.  If a week passes and no response, or I get no positive response (by that I mean can't help, not harsh words), then I'll probably start with screenshot snippets for now, but will still look around for Rumble World Youtubers - particularly anyone playing currently.  Twitch seems to be a dead zone for the game.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 03:44, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
== Image Touchup? ==
Decided to start a new section. LOL
I am going through the minisprites and creating them just in case.  I've been noticing that the attempts to create white backgrounds seem to be hitting snags; when I crop the image and make the corners (around the blue border) to be white, they return with a light shade of blue.  Is this a problem with JPGs trying to saturate the colour wherever two are next to each other?  Since I'm resaving them as PNGs to make them more...consistent (I can create one with just the border to paste around every single one while editing, as well), should I instead find someone here who can touch up images to do that?  I can always enlarge them (right now they save as 28x28, so 56x56 creating four pixels for every one currently) for that purpose, as well, and the touched up ones can be uploaded.  Of course, it's better to have any work done in specific batches, so I'd be trying to co-ordinate what ones get done at once.
I already got rid of some original snapshots, so I might just retake them and save the original images as PNG to solve this problem (I have another Arceus now anyway, but I might wait on those until I have them all).  Going to change the rest to PNG now for editing purposes.  Still awaiting the Youtuber's response before I use any of my minis for testing.  Of course, all the work I am referring to is if the Youtube response doesn't come; I'm doing the cropping just in case it becomes needed.  I also learned how Unown work (1-28 being specific every month, 29-31 are mixed).  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 18:46, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
:Whenever you save as a JPEG, you lose data (which is why JPEGs suck). After you edit, you should immediately save it as a PNG to accurately preserve your edits. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 19:30, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
::Yeah, that's what I've been noticing.  Hence why the remaining ones are being changed to PNGs now.  At least most of what's done is duplicated somewhere else in another shot, but saving as PNG will be key.  I'll upload a 28x28 and a 56x56 one later outside of Archives (since they won't be used yet in that form) as I'm curious if the 56x56 can be touched up to make it better quality, and exact scaling should prevent distortion.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 20:37, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
:::Coming back up to this, I've gone through a full batch of screenshots.  It's interesting, but some screenshots turn out very well, while others...turn out incredibly blurred and clash together.  I think I might start taking several pictures, or take a new one every time I drop by one Pokémon; I can then keep pasting different copies of, say, Pikachu on top of each other and eventually I'll pick what seems to be the best one.  Those best ones can be touched up at double the size and the touchups used, I think; the quality looks good on some of my grabs compared to others.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 00:15, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Did we ever get those for here?  What I'm talking about are the same ones [http://www.serebii.net/shuffle/pokemon.shtml here] (Serebii link), and someone said something about a German partner Wiki having them and we should be able to get permission to use them.  Just wondering if we erver did that.  Could give me another project over at Archives uploading them all (unless we use a cross-Wiki link, I am not sure) prior to changing the template at the list page to accommodate the new images.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 01:29, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

== Trainer Rematch Data (OR/AS) ==
Tiddlywinks and I have both been verifying data independently, and I have been leaving the data sitting [[User:CycloneGU/ORAS Trainer Data|here in my userspace]] in finished form for well over a month now, maybe two.  Can we say it's safe for us to start adding the data to the articles?  The mechanic has been confirmed, and we even confirmed one rematch at [[Sea Mauville]] that cannot be accessed in any way (it's in the data dump basically, but we can't get in the room until it improves another level due to needing a certain HM move).
The small text additions were another user's idea (I forget who, don't think it was Tiddlywinks either), and I think they serve better than division headers saying the same thing as it's better to have the information right next to the data it's heading in all cases.  The format for other sections can of course be modified to this, and perhaps a future project might see that rematch data researched as well (though there's a 99% chance that the information there is all correct already, anyway).  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 16:38, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

:Okay, looking at [[Ash's Pikachu#Related articles]], there's quite a few boxes there. (In my opinion, none of them should be there except Ash's, but I'm not in charge of anime.) Since Misty, Dawn, and Officer Jenny have their boxes there, I'm inclined to say that the box for Clemont should be fine staying by the existing precedent, along with the similar boxes on the other pages. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 20:09, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
::I'm also not an expert at the anime pages, but I would think that the only footer box belonging there is whoever owns the Pokémon.  I wouldn't expect to see a box about Clemont's team on a page for Ash's Pikachu, for instance.  IMO, Ash's box is the only one that belongs there.  Same with Serena's on her Pancham.  Doesn't matter to me who has ever used it.  That's just IMO, however, hence why I asked for staff review of it.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 20:17, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
:::I'd ask a higher-ranking staff member whether it's needed. Honestly though, you should have either removed all of the unnecessary ones or not remove any at all, because you left the pages in this weird limbo where some, but not all, of the people who have ever used it are there. Your reasoning just by looking at the edit summaries and the content wasn't quite sound. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 20:22, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
::::I was going to review them further later, but Funktastic has already protected them.  As I noted, I'm not sure what the intention was for adding other templates, I just knew Clemont's team has nothing to do with Serena's Pancham, and that drove the reverts since all cases involved one of the group of Ash or his friends.  I did refer Funktastic to this and intend to ask whoever's in charge of anime about specific cases, including these edits.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 20:27, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
:::::[[User talk:Kenji-girl#Footers on Character's Pokémon Pages|Left a message here]] since that seems to be the anime person.  Will see what the guideline is.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 20:43, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Got a reply from Kenji-girl.  Seems she thinks the same as I do, so I've gone ahead and corrected everything that is current in the anime (that I know about anyway) to only have the actual owner.  I've left the recurring template on [[Clemont's Dedenne]] and [[Ash's Froakie]] because they did appear in episodes without being owned, later caught in another episode, but I wonder if even that can go.  I'm on the fence on that one; it's almost like "recurring" is an ownership status as they can no longer be "recurring" after being caught, but since I suggest former owners still belong, it might fall under the same rule as Ash on Ambipom's page and Dawn on Buizel's page.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 05:14, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

== Requesting assistance on creating a template ==
Hello, Abcboy.  I was wondering if you could provide some advice on using #if and #ifexpr in a template as I seem to not be able to set up the template in a way that will allow it to be used depending on the number of moves it will need to handle.  (The article is [[Contest combination|here]] if you want to know more.)  {{unsigned|Super goku}}
:You shouldn't use one template for tables like that. Try making three: '''header''' for the column headers, '''div''' for first turn and follow up, and '''entry''' for each move. You can look at [[Move variations]] for what I'm talking about. This should make the template easier to manage. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 03:35, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
::True, but I thought that there was a limit of 100 templates that can be supported on an article at one time.  Is that actually incorrect?  --[[User:Super goku|Super goku]] ([[User talk:Super goku|talk]]) 04:12, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
:::No, that's not even close. Try counting the number of "{{" on pages like the National Pokédex listing or Ash Ketchum. I'd still try testing the templates with the entire page's content in your userspace, though. If that breaks, then there's still some other methods to try and lower the amount of templates. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 04:25, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

== Surge's Raichu ==
Ah, I see that the games are mentioned in the lead and now see that both are covered in the infobox.  I guess also that the newly established guideline only applies to official game events (like the two Ash's Pikachu, Serena's Braixen, etc.) and not to things that are normally in the game (like this Raichu)?  I thought the infoboxes were now being used under the "general games=/=anime stance", but if that only applies to events, then it makes sense to leave it.  There is a games section further down the page, so I was under the presumption that the male status would only go there.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 02:01, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
:A lot of the {{cat|Gym Leaders' Pokémon}} are Pokémon that were featured in the games/anime/Adventures, so the game info should stay in the infobox especially since the Adventures info is going to stay, just like with human characters who are cross-canon. Pokémon like Ash's Pikachu, who first and foremost are anime Pokémon are the ones where that information is irrelevant to the infobox. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 02:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
::Ah, I am not familiar with Pokémon Adventures and considered it different from the games, but I had thought that games and anime were always separate.  Either way, in Raichu's case, it has an Adventures confirmation anyway.  I do see the point about them being primarily game characters, though the fact that it starts off with an anime blurb does make it more confusing.  Oh well, I'm sure it will make sense. =)  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 02:55, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
== Colo/XD text dumps ==
I've made myself "text dumps" of all the "string tables" in the Colosseum and XD games, which should be all the strings the game can use outwardly. They're a bit messy in some ways, but would you want to include those games in the text dumps table on your user page?
On a sidenote, do you have any interest in text dumps of any other Pokemon games? (Literally any, at least on Nintendo console/handheld lines; even something like Pinball.) I have no immediate plans to pursue any other games, but it could certainly happen at some point. [[User:Tiddlywinks|Tiddlywinks]] ([[User talk:Tiddlywinks|talk]]) 23:27, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
:Yes, feel free to include the two GameCube games. Even if it's messy, it's not as though it's easy to find anything in even the clean ones without using Ctrl + F. Other games aren't as pressing but still would be nice to have, of course. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 23:31, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
::I uploaded them to a file host I trust. You're more than welcome to download and relocate the links if you'd like, though.
::After a while, I was able to clean up things much more than I had before, so the only particularly messy thing about it now should be the sometimes confounding functions/variables. (It appears Mediafire won't let you "View" the Colosseum file, but I don't know why, unless it's too big. And if you View the XD file there, some of the text won't display right (like POKéMON as POKéMON), but it should be just fine if you download it.) ::::I got the EU string table data. But the Japanese string tables are something of a problem. Their headers can actually be formatted so they're impossible to reliably distinguish from random data, so I'm gonna try to work a sort of reverse-engineered approach based on what I've gotten from the EU/US dumps. [[User:Tiddlywinks|Tiddlywinks]] ([[User talk:Tiddlywinks|talk]]) 21:57, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
:::::Done. It turned out that only Colosseum's tables were formatted in that problematic way. That still means I'm not sure I got all the string tables in Colosseum, though. (I did try to do some manual verification and I found one table, but there's a whole other table/set of IDs (7A7E + EA60-F31E) that's missing. And there's a few random IDs that were in the EU/US ROMs but not the JP; but there are also a few IDs in the EU ROM but not in the US and vice versa, so that could be trivial.) I'll do that.  Just going to list the board information (what appears in each stage to help you) and finish my personal research before checking what else they have that I can add. =)  That one with five Unown will definitely not be a picnic to try to S-rank, however...just got my first S-ranks in 2-3 through 2-6, now debating doing the others.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 04:36, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey, while you have the power to edit templates that are restricted to normal users, it's best to discuss and consult the rest of the staff (particularly the Editorial Board) before making major changes to widely used templates such as the EpisodeInfobox. You have our AIM contacts so don't hesitate to use it. Thanks. :Sorry, I personally thought my edit was just a few changes to the CSS code to clean it up a bit. There was some code that was redundant and uneccesary. (<code>class="roundy"</code> does the same thing as <code><nowiki>{{roundy|10px}}</nowiki></code> without another template call) I'll try to make sure to do that in the future. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 00:51, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

True, most are. But there are some that closely translate to what is being said though. If you listen carefully without reading the sub, you can hear Brock mention something about pokemon with the same ("onaji") something being impossible ("arienai") to act that way. {{unsigned|Handmaiden 101}}

As I get into the later stages of Rumble U documentation, I'm running into fewer and fewer videos that document playings of the stages.  Right now, I have reched "The Three Little Tepigs" in the middle of the Chill Battle area and have locked down Magby and Whismur as a capsule cage exclusive and a reward Pokémon...in some unknown order.  How detailed are our partner Wikis on the subject of what's in these post-game stages?  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 19:06, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
:PokéWiki, our German partner, only has short articles on the first four areas. Being that PokéWiki is by far our most comprehensive EP partner, I imagine none of our partner wikis have much detailed info on Rumble U. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 19:23, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
::That's what I was worried about.  I don't think this LEt's Play person will be going back to check them all.
::Interestingly, one task is to use Magby in the mission after getting Magby.  In the past, these have typically been rewards, so that might be a clue.  It might not be, too.  You have any idea where else we can verify this stuff outside of playing?  Getting the list for each stage is the easy part. == The User xx-0 categories ==
Recently you flagged thosed categories as to be deleted due to being empty. == Curious v2.0 ==
[[User:Soulweaver|Soulweaver]] hasn't been here since December.  Since I've now put the first ten areas in and pretty much added more detail than he had on the two pages he had started, can we perhaps remove the mainspace tag from [[User:Soulweaver/Renegade Meadow|this]] and [[User:Soulweaver/Blade-and-Shield Path|this]]?  I would do so, but I'm not staff, and no need to delete since it's his userspace and he might still want to work on the grids aspect anyway in the existing pages.  Speaking of the grid format, it might be useful anyway, though maybe redone from scratch and in separate templates instead of a single one (as some stages don't have a full three-row preview).  I might spend time figuring it out when I'm motivated to do so and if we ever get the BT spritesheet (more appropriate for that setup and if sized like the ones I have can be resized easily), but ATM it's unnecessary.  There are still three data pages to do anyway, and one has 21 stages in it (3 per day of the week), though the other two pages will be smaller with only three apiece for 27 tables total to create (equivalent to another four and a half zones), but I took a break for the image transparency work (will get back to it over the weekend, and have to play stages in Zones 9 and 10 for the time being anyway).  Too bad we don't have a BT spritesheet available, but one thing at a time.
BTW, I replied at my page on the post you left there.  I downloaded paint.net, but I could not confirm the transparency was working or whether it might have destroyed the same colour inside the image, so I stuck to the online one since it's clear from the wizard how to do it (it even has a "fuzz factor", but I wish you could default it to not have to change it every time as I'm choosing 0%).  I confirmed by playing a Youtube music video that I can do 13 in the span of 4 minutes there, anyway, with the uploading and downloading, so it works out to one roughly every 18-19 seconds if I keep at it (barring any stumbles, which I redo), then I just have to rename all the files since they default save with a set filename that keeps appending (1), (2) to subsequent saves.  Up to 119 (Seaking) so far but will take at least another few hours not counting breaks after every 25-50 or so.  Finishing through Mew - and might try going for Celebi - this evening as well.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 04:02, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
:It doesn't matter much whether {{template|mainspace}} is on those pages still or not; if anything I'd delete them, but only users of admin rank or higher can delete pages. [http://www.spriters-resource.com/3ds/pokmonbattletrozei/ The Spriters' Resource] has Battle Trozei sprites. You should contact whoever uploaded the sheet to see if we can use it.
:paint.net transparency works as so: use the "magic wand" tool (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/images/tools/magicwand.png) to select an area of color. On the top toolbar, there should be a "tolerance" bar; set it to 0% to select only adjacent identical colors. Press the "Delete" key, and you should see a gray and white checkerboard pattern where the color was.
:You can check if it worked by going to the Layers window (bottom-right) and clicking Add New Layer (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/images/layerswindow/newlayer.png). The new layer should be above the actual sprite; click and drag it down to move it below the one with the sprite, and then click on the empty layer to switch to it. Switch to the Fill tool (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/images/tools/paintbucket.png). If you see the word "Image" in the top toolbar, click on it and change it to "Layer". Then, fill the empty layer with a color such as pink. If it worked, you should see the image surrounded on a pink background. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 08:52, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

:::I'll take a look.  Thanks. =)  That checkerboard is what I was looking for, and I didn';t know I had to hit Delete.  The online tool works like this: upload, click Wizards, Transparency, set the Fuzz Factor to 0% (up to 30% available; this is seemingly the same thing as the "tolerance"), click in the white, checkerboard appears, go to Save (download).  I had to break to split my Unown, who I had left as a single file, but I did eventually complete everything, including these, all the way through Electrike even with that break.
:::I'll ask about the Battle Trozei sprites at that resource.  I'll poke around for Rumble World too, but I did ask ScriesM if he has a way to get those as I recall he did data dumps from the game before (the abilities thing in my sandbox uses that data, which seems to be the same as Rumble Blast with abilities not even used in the game, so the list would work at that page too).  They'd be better than the RW ones I'm trying to do by hand, which start out as JPG screenshots.  I'll keep doing what I'm doing for the Shuffle ones, but I'll try out paint.net transparency for BT if I get the permission for the sheet.  Might be easier if we show off the Shuffle sprite usage to that source first since we have that option now.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 15:03, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

== That Template ==
Left a message at archives too, BTW.
I notice the last edit left the template looking like junk code, so I'm offering assistance if you want it.  Am I guessing, based on the suggestion to secure area screenshots previously over at Archives, that this template is for possible future use in individual area pages for [[Pokémon Shuffle]] (which I also agree needs a split now LOL)?  I'm still not a template wizard, but I might be able to help with construction if something's amiss since I've tinkered with a few now.  What do you want the final row to look like?
If you don't need my assistance with the template itself, that is also fine; I hope I can offer other ideas, however!  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 03:23, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

:::Ah, you made it look really fancy. =)
:::I like that you added documentation; I know Wikipedia puts documentation, which is basically the equivalent of an essay on template usage, on the discussion page; therefore, there is no talk page for templates, and they redirect you elsewhere for that purpose.  We really should put documentation on most of the templates here.  I had to figure out the hard way how to use some of them (the ones for movesets are great examples of "not knowing things that might need to be known to properly edit"), and documentation would have saved me time back then.  Documentation is just fine right under the template, as you have done, but it needs to also be edited wherever it is whenever a template is edited.  If that's something that can be worked on, I can add it to the things to do for common templates.
:::I did submit the template to HT14 at Archives, so that's under admin control now.  Will look at BT sprites later; I might be selective and upload as I convert tables since they only ever appear in one stage, never showing again elsewhere unless you revisit that stage.  Later on, a full list can be created with the respective HP and abilities for each (another miscellaneous Pokédex LOL), which is why I'm jotting down whatever HP I can guesstimate based on my own play and video observations.  That list is still far away if it ever happens.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 04:44, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

== About PMD GTI location template ==
I think that you should split the template in two parts: Via Magnagates in one and the Key locations, Dungeons and Downloadable Dungeons in another and then but them in the corresponding article. <br>Since they are separated in the game I think the templates should be too. --[[User:Raltseye|Raltseye]] ([[User talk:Raltseye|talk]]) 11:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

::What I meant by "Separated in-game" was that you press 'Magnagates' to access Magnagate dungeons and 'Continue' to play the rest. And by that I think that it should be two different templates one with magnagates and one with the rest. So that the Magnagate dungeon articles have a template with the Magnagate dungeons in it and the other articles like [[Post Town]], [[Pokémon Paradise]] and [[Mountain Pass]] etc have a template with Key locations, Dungeons and Downloadable Dungeons in another because  are they not connected to Magnagate dungeons by gameplay. --[[User:Raltseye|Raltseye]] ([[User talk:Raltseye|talk]]) 20:13, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

== First Column ==
I'm not sure I like hiding the first column.  I'd suggest have "Pokémon" with a column span of 2 like I use, and have the coding instead change the entry in that column to itself have a column span of 2 if nothing is entered in the first column.  That way, both cells are still utilized no matter what happens in the first cell.  This also lets individual rows hide the column and the "Icon" column isn't sitting there looking silly in some rows.
That said, it should only be used in Pokémon listings, so it should never be empty.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 15:29, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
:The first column is for the stage number, but things like "Seize Hold of Pinsir!" or "Escalation Battle" don't have stage numbers, and that's where it's hidden. Obviously, since the template just spits out whatever you put in the first column, you can also put things like "Keldeo Rears It's Head" there. Also, making an entire column have the same colspan is not ideal for things that interpret the code (for example, pasting learnlist tables into Excel causes a pile of empty columns to show up) --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 15:37, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
::You have the column titled "Icon".  That's the point here.  ''Keldeo Rears Its Head!'' is not an icon.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 16:45, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

::::I just realized that, but it should be shown on the template so it's clear it matches the intent.  And my suggestion for combining icon and name into one column still stands.  Both represent the Pokémon, why use two columns?  Especially if the table is later made sortable?  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 16:53, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
:::::Actually, to show what I mean, I'll make a quick edit to the template.  All I change is the header, so the template itself functions no differently.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 16:56, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
::::::[[User:Abcboy/Puerto_Blanco#Stages|Header has been modified here.]] The colspan makes the column sort by the icon text (so [[Audino (Pokémon)]] for example), and not be the displayed text (which would be {{me|Audino}}). :::::::Not sure that sorting is even necessary, either, on those tables.  But when I saw icons and names split before, sorting either column sorted exactly the same, so I actually removed the sorting on the icons on the table in question.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 19:34, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

The reason behind them is to make the tables uniform, thus presenting a more professional appearance, from stage to stage, and optionally from page to page (though it can differ per page if there's a substantial difference).  I did this as [[Pokémon Shuffle]] as well, though I understand your project will eventually depreciate those tables in any event.  With the width removed from the one, it makes the table look wider, which is not the intent.
Also, when I upload the images, the images will cause a two line length anyway, so there's no harm caused by the 250 width since that will allow for two lines in most cases anyway.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 20:52, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

:Most, if not all CSS-compliant browsers will render the two above tables at '''the same width''', making the Row column ridiculously wide. If you want to limit the width of a table, you have to limit the width of the table:

::It is true that mobile devices would of course render the tables the same width and they would look the same that way.  The concern is the different widths of the tables on a page that has a long width itself (such as a computer screen).  The text will automatically extend the width "as your "bla bla" line does", and I don't want it to do that, but also don't want to use <nowiki><br></nowiki> tags to resolve that problem when setting a width is a more clean solution.  The tags can in fact even cause the appearance of unneeded space.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 21:03, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
:::I just reread the comment again.  I will reanalyze the width scenario as far as tables go after dinner.  Just heating some stuff up, then the image uploads will be after that; it's better to experiment in previews once the new images are in (created the Bulba template for pulling them earlier today).  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 21:09, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
::::All right, I have attempted your suggestion.  [http://oi60.tinypic.com/24o5z4o.jpg This is what happens.]  The preview test had "Order" not set to a width, "Pokémon" in fact set for a 130px width (both columns), "Type" and "HP" at 60px and 40px respectively, and "Appearance" not set per your suggestion.  As you see, even the "Pokémon" columns, with set widths, have different sizes; even accounting for "Order" being slightly larger, the column is still measured about 10px larger though I have both set to 130px.  I tried removing borders (which are not needed with table widths) and the same result occurred.  When I got rid of the table width and restored the width to the last column ("Order" doesn't need it because it's automatically longer than any entry in the column), everything was uniform both outside and inside again.
::::So to better explain why I use column widths instead of table widths: it causes, internal columns to always be a set width in every single table, without deviation.  If we have three columns of 100, 50, and 200 respectively, the table width will ALWAYS be 350px; if we just set the width for the table and not the columns, the columns will readjust themselves dynamically, making for a much sloppier presentation all because of a concern for "whitespace" in a very small number of instances.  One more thing I should note is that I'm considering adding a "Location" column, which would also allow for a reanalysis of how the final column (the conditional) is presented, but I'm leaving it for now.  The design is therefore not final, but just a good working design for now, and it's a design I am confident with in terms of a professional presentation to the user.  I will note that I did change the width from 250 to 200 for the last column, and I may adjust it down further.  I'm undecided on that.  We could also move the conditional out of the table and set them as table notes under the table if you think that would be a better presentation (and would drastically shrink the table by that 200 pixels, not necessarily a bad thing), thus leaving the column for just "Location", which has other benefits.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 22:17, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
:::::I have been informed that the problem noted above (where the first two tables appear to be the same width, despite the columns being set differently) is a WebKit (Chrome/Safari) issue that isn't present in other rendering engines.
:::::I'm fine with it either way—I was just addressing the complaint Lady Ariel made. As long as it appears reasonably on most browsers/screen sizes, it should be fine. --[[User:Abcboy|Abcboy]] ([[User talk:Abcboy|talk]]) 22:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
::::::Ah, this is good to know.  I also noted Lady Ariel's concern [[User talk:Lady Ariel#Spacing|and actually was writing this]] when you made the column edit.  I believe it's better to make it so it appears as uniform as possible everywhere; the only possible concern is tables forcing themselves over on some smaller devices, making reading harder there, but a large number of columns would make this unavoidable anyway.  I did resolve this in a sandbox table I created with some 30 columns by using <nowiki><br></nowiki> tags to make the column text vertical (using tags between each letter), and that seemed to work; it still took most of the screen length even that way on a wide laptop.  (That table is currently hidden as I determined there isn't much to go by regarding differences in certain settings there, so I won't be using the data other than to show how many traits each Rumble World category has; you can use preview and look at it if you want to, or check the history. LOL)  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 22:46, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
== Type Colouring in Tables ==
What is the quick and easy method for having cells auto-populate the colour based on the type entered?  I have determined this would be a great idea for the "Type" column of the tables, but I only see it built into templates as this example from "ShDex" shows:
:<nowiki>| style="text-align:left" | {{p|{{{3|Mew}}}}}{{#if:{{{7|}}}|<br><small>{{{7}}}</small>}}</nowiki><br><nowiki>| style="background:#{{{{{4|Psychic}}} color}}" | [[{{{4|Psychic}}} (type)|<span style="color:#FFF">{{{4|Psychic}}}</span>]]</nowiki>
Removing the template bits and using the Psychic example (I also remove the if, which depends on a foreign template entry that remains unchanged):
:<nowiki>| style="text-align:left" | {{p|Mew}}</nowiki><br><nowiki>| style="background:#{{{{Psychic}} color}}" | [[{{Psychic}} (type)|<span style="color:#FFF">{{Psychic}}</span>]]</nowiki>
I can't make heads or tails of the result, which brings up a move box for Psychic alternative moves instead of the type.  Changing to something else (like Normal) literally blows it up.  So I went to the page source to find:
:<nowiki><td style="background:#F85888"> <a href="/wiki/Psychic_(type)" title="Psychic (type)"><span style="color:#FFF">Psychic</span></a>
</td></nowiki>
So I'm trying to figure out how to pull the colour and set it on the table.  Clearly that HTML is the end result in the page source code; the question is how to pull that F85888 and such.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 23:51, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
::I should add that I have played with the actual code and gotten it to work:
{| class="roundy" width="480px" style="margin:auto; text-align:center; background:#{{locationcolor/med|land}}; border:3px solid #{{locationcolor/dark|land}}"
! style="background:#{{locationcolor/light|land}}; {{roundytl|5px}}" width="40px" | Order
! style="background:#{{locationcolor/light|land}}" colspan=2 width="140px" | Pokémon
! style="background:#{{locationcolor/light|land}}" width="60px" | Type
! style="background:#{{locationcolor/light|land}}" width="40px" | HP
! style="background:#{{locationcolor/light|land}}; {{roundytr|5px}}" | Appearance Conditions
|- style="background:#FFF"
| 1
| width="40px" | {{BTImg|001|Bulbasaur}}
| style="border:5px solid #FFF" | {{p|Bulbasaur}}
| style="background:#{{Grass color}}" | <span style="color:#FFF">Grass</span>
| 10
| style="text-align: left; border:5px solid #FFF" | None
|}
::My question is therefore whether there's a template to automate the code for just that cell or whether I have to type this out every time.  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 00:01, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

LOL  Meanwhile, I think Pattyman is working on new versions without the green background.  If that occurs, I'll likely be able to go ahead and complete the table myself later.  I'll likely change the licensing to sprites at that point as that's basically what they will be by then, but I'll discuss that first.
::::::::Just remember you also have your [http://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/User_talk:Ching_Yeung#Toys Archives talk page], too (I also have one).  If you have questions on anything regarding uploading of images, etc., those can be utilized for that purpose such as I created yours. =)  [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 05:24, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Abcboy!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Abcboy/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --Takoto タコト| サソデイ = 愛 20:30, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making ten small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page. Userspace limits

Hi. I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. Please don't do it any more, though. Bulbapedia's Userspace policy restricts the amount you can edit your userpage: no more than one edit per day and make sure you contribute to our mainspace more than your userspace. This policy was instated to promote people helping out in the mainspace, and also to control strain on our server. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so help us out by contributing to some articles before coming back to your personal userpage. The more often you edit in the mainspace, the more you will be allowed to edit your userpage. Thanks! ----Pokemaster97 19:12, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Unsigned

No, it is not "subst:unsigned", but "{{unsigned|username}}". AdynizWanna talk? 05:26, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Please go update your signature policy, then. This is what it said: "Simply check the article's history to see who originally posted the comment, then type {{unsigned|username}} or {{SUBST:unsigned|username}} after the comment in question (make sure you give correct credit to the correct comment)." Unless you're talking about something else… --Abcboy (talk) 12:21, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
When you said "subst: unsigned", I couldn't help but notice the incomplete parameters since the policy says "{{subst:unsigned|username}}", not just "subst:unsigned". I thought you were having trouble using it, that is why I dropped a message. Anyway, my apologies for not elaborating the explanation. AdynizWanna talk? 04:47, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

High use templates

I understand your interest in letting us know we need to protect some templates, but never NEVER NEVER edit a high use template. EVER. -- MAGNEDETH 00:07, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Tournament Pages

Those pages that were added to be moved, have terrible names and are very confusing. Also adding Tournament to the headings on the Pokémon World Tournament page was redundant. Why don't you take a chill pill for a little while? Lady Ariel 22:18, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Officialy, the tournaments are titled that (though if you want to use the original names until they are released in English, that's fine. They could also be moved to a location without Tournament.) I was unsure whether or not to remove "Tournament" from Mix and Rental due to their short names. I decided to add them, which as I can see now, was failed logic. --Abcboy (talk) 22:24, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Sorry

I do use preview a lot and I'm trying to do it more, it's just that there are small errors on separate pages. Plus I sometimes make some small errors that I don't catch at first haha or I think of a better way of wording something and have to go back... I'm trying to not clog it up by tagging them as minor edits, you can block those on the recent changes. Sorry again. Mrbrooks2013 (talk) 23:20, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Do you see the green edit button at the top of the page? It can be used to edit the entire page. It is more convenient than editing each section individually. --Abcboy (talk) 23:23, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

First, as I stated in my edit summary that you probably did not see, most of it was speculation. Next, read the manual of style. We don't use use the words "you" or "your", and this quote:
"The Unova region sure is pretty...but thats not the only thing pretty around here..."
...seems to be missing an apostrophe. If you correct the changes I have mentioned, you probably could add it back, but you may want to run it by some staff first. --Abcboy (talk) 04:08, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Can you help me?

I want to revert the Lady's overworld sprite to the current version that you uploaded on Bulbagarden Archives on Bulbapedia. It isn't syncing. I suppose that you have or know someone who has permission to make that edit. Thanks in advance. I apologize because this is my first time using that program that you suggested. A complete novice at best. Dialgafan1 (talk) 19:24, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Hope you can understand. --Abcboy (talk) 19:29, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

So, even though the white background still appears white on the Bulbapedia version of the file, it'll go away, right? It just takes a long time to sync? I tried emptying my cache and it's still white. Dialgafan1 (talk) 19:34, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

I have her sprite in use on the Lady and Pokémon Breeder Trainer class pages. Dialgafan1 (talk) 19:37, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Yup. Please indent. I like my talk neat and full with my errors, mistakes, and warnings. --Abcboy (talk) 19:42, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry about that. I reverted it to your version so it should come as transparent soon enough. I guess I won't be doing overworld sprites anymore. Dialgafan1 (talk) 19:45, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Do you have permission to revert this? http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:RSE_Lady_OD.png - unsigned comment from Dialgafan1 (talkcontribs)
Just wait, be calm, and sign your comments. --Abcboy (talk) 19:53, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh god sorry. I'm such a Klutz. I won't bother you anymore. Thank you for your help. Dialgafan1 (talk) 20:01, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
And use link templates. Klutz. --Abcboy (talk) 20:04, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Thank You

I apologize for the editing I did to the page "myths and legends involving legendary pokemon" that accidentally caused almost the entire page to be duplicated, which you then had to fix. Thank you.

You're welcome. Sometimes the exact opposite happens to me, where only one section is kept, with the rest deleted! --Abcboy (talk) 02:53, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Previewing

Hi, I see your working on a template in your userspace. While we're more lenient about breaking the userspace edit limit for pages that will be in the mainspace, you've made 7 edits to your userspace today. This can easily be fixed by previewing a bit more instead of saving over and over. Please keep this in mind during future editing, but keep up the good work you've been doing lately. Thanks. --Pokemaster97 01:48, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Really sorry. My browser ends up refreshing some of the pages I work on, so I end up having to do all the work again; and in that rush, I end up having hit "save" way too much. I really should have just made this one template... --Abcboy (talk) 01:54, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
I understand. Don't worry about it, just a heads up. Cheers. --Pokemaster97 01:57, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Template

I'mma let you do the MD templates if you want, because you obviously know a lot more about it than I do, and I'm making an ass of myself attempting it. Good work on it though. --Pokemaster97 04:47, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Why don't you read the instruction page? Maybe you could help on the lists pre-Gates to Infinity, because they need a lot of work. Why don't you start from the end and work your way up? --Abcboy (talk) 04:51, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
Yea, I've read it, but I keep mistakenly leaving thing out and stuff. One of those days I guess :p I can help with pre Gates lists, but it would require se research since it looks like no one has added them, unless I'm missing something. --Pokemaster97 05:05, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Sorry...Little Help Though?

I thought I was editing my Userpage instead of my Talkpage. I have edited some articles already though and still cannot edit my Userpage and was just wondering if you could tell me what exactly I need to do to be able to edit my Userpage. Thanks! - unsigned comment from SupermercadoMedia (talkcontribs)

To edit your userpage, you need to be autoconfirmed. --Abcboy (talk) 02:07, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Can you give me an example of what would be part of the Main namespace? It seems to me like everything is under Category: or something else. --SupermercadoMedia (talk) 2:29, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Ash Ketchum. Pokémon Platinum Version. Kanto. Pikachu. --Abcboy (talk) 02:31, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for all of the help. I really appreciate it. ~Merc (talk) 02:33, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome. --Abcboy (talk) 02:34, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

New Idea

Sorry to bother you again, but there's something i need to ask you. I have an idea for this website I'd like to try out. Do I talk to someone about putting up a new article on here, or do I just put it up and wait to see what happens? --Firered16 (talk) 23:17, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

What exactly do you mean? Depending on what it is, a different approach may be needed. In most cases, you can bring it up with Werdnae, the Editor-in-Chief. --Abcboy (talk) 00:25, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Just thinking about adding a relationship section for the more prominent characters. --Firered16 (talk) 02:04, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Can I help you with your proposal page for substitute the disambiguation page of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Series? My point: that page was exactly I was looking after when I first typed "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon" and I got sad seeing the disambig page.--Igor (talk) 01:10, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Big project request

Hey Abcboy, if you happen to be flexible with time and don't mind extracting information from XD, can you help with add the descriptions for the various items that have been found in the games? I know mail and exchangeable items will be a huge hassle though, so we could worry about that later. Thanks in advance! ht14 02:22, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

I have my methods that I've used to extract information on items such as the Safe Key, so obtaining items isn't a huge barrier. Is there any specific order I should work on them in? --Abcboy (talk) 02:33, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Not at all haha. It's just nice to see them filled up =P ht14 03:04, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Would you happen to have PBR as well by the way? I was thinking of how we can get box sprites going for them as well. Additionally, there are definitely Trainer classes missing from the PBR list as there are many combinations to achieve different Trainer classes. ht14 03:08, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Unfortunately not, sorry. --Abcboy (talk) 03:19, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
That's fine! What you're doing now is extremely helpful in any case! ht14 04:11, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Pokemon's accent...

Just a heads up, it looks like you're missing the 'é' in "Pokémon" (so: "Pokemon") in your latest edits. Don't forget it... ;) Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:43, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, that's me failing at copying and pasting. --Abcboy (talk) 22:46, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Categories

Well then, "Category (move)" would also lead to {{m|Category}}, don't you think? Mayhaps "Move category" is preferred? SatoMew 21:38, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, "Move category" sounds better to me as a page title. --Abcboy (talk) 00:30, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks!

I should know that after creating another copy of List of routes and changing some of those numbers (I haven't continued that project yet), but this is the first time I've tried adding to a template and changing something else in it and that went right out of my mind. Thanks for the help! CycloneGU (talk) 21:27, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Yup, that's how the unnamed parameters work. I took out the {{{7|}}} parameter, because it didn't seem to be used, and the if statement said "if parameter 7 is blank, show nothing, else show 1", which didn't seem useful at all. --Abcboy (talk) 21:33, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

:S

I'm sorry! I'll keep that in mind for the future! BowserBrowser (talk) 22:13, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

It's fine. Just make sure to learn from your mistakes. --Abcboy (talk) 22:14, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Exeggcute

Concerning your recent edits on Exeggcute: Headbutt (move)/Wild Pokémon can't mean that all of those Pokemon are found in all of those locations, as I took you to mean. I am a prolific headbutter and I can attest that Hoothoot is very common in Ilex Forest and never appears in Azalea Town (in Crystal), for example. And after 100+ times, I'm beginning to doubt whether Exeggcute appears in Crystal at all. --Snorri (talk) 03:32, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Right after I reverted the change, I noticed that on the Headbutt page's talk page said that the page was also probably wrong, but the link it references seems to be down. Crystal Talian was the first to revert your changes, prior to me changing it back and reverting my edit back. I don't have a copy of Pokémon Crystal to check myself, but I'd try and change all the pages at once rather than leaving some corrected and some not. The location page, Headbutt page, and the Pokémon page all cross-check each other. --Abcboy (talk) 03:43, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
Upokecenter has informative pages:
Note that the "two types" on the page for the trees mechanic is belied by the Crystal encounter data; that actually just applies to Gold/Silver. (I assume the calculation remains the same, but it could be different as well... It is possible to test the calculation yourself, though.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:34, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Your Move Suggestion

As you hadn't provided a reason on the talk page right away (I might have just been too fast LOL), I have started that discussion by providing my reasons. Not mentioned there is that I feel we may, over time, need to REDUCE the Pokémon Shuffle page, not expand it; the stage data could easily be a separate article on its own. Making everything one page would be TOO much. CycloneGU (talk) 20:16, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Wow. Total misread on my part. I've rescinded my comments and replied; it you wish to make the move, just check the pages that link to the current location as I detailed there. CycloneGU (talk) 20:33, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

All cleaned up. Thanks again! =) Back to editing location pages in my userspace as I have some data backlogged that I waited to work on until this was finished, so might as well do it now since I have two hours to wait for the Origin Balloon to be ready. Whoops

CycloneGU (talk) 01:28, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Just a note—the purge clock is per-page and must be clicked on each individual page you want to refresh. For the implementation, I would leave the form change explanation for prose and just have the change in minisprite in the encounters table. I'd also leave a note on the talk page that it changes. --Abcboy (talk) 01:41, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
I didn't think about the minisprite. I'll see what I can do with that as I need to check all of the minisprite data to put in another version of the switch.
So you suggest just updating the minisprite only and not the text to say, for instance, "Poison" instead of "Normal"? I've been thinking putting the explanation before the Pokémon list might be the way to go, so both can be updated in the table without further explanation as that point; it wouldn't make sense for readers to see a Fairy Arceus minisprite and a Normal-type because, when it's caught in the game, it's specifically only Fairy-type (not Normal at all, it's damaged like any other Fairy type by Poison). I'm looking at both the Fighting and Flying Arceus in my list right now, in fact, and they only show as those types.
For cases where mechanics are being described like this, I might start creating sub-sections in the stage sections in question; others don't need sub-sections. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 01:54, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

All right. Arceus apparently doesn't have mini-sprites for every type according to this archived discussion from 2008. If they exist, I don't see them in the Arceus category at Archives at all, and don't know what minisprite category they are in. If we're going to change minisprites in the table, I need to know where they all are and what filenames they have so I can work them into a separate switch. CycloneGU (talk) 03:05, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

The page doesn't show Pokémon types in the table, so I guess a little (Dragon-type) or something under the name would work. --Abcboy (talk) 03:49, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
That can work. I still think switches in both columns is ideal since the description of why will have already happened.
One more thing. Given my new image-posting skillz, I might be able to make a post to Miiverse and just post a bunch of screenshots of Pokémon sprites. Why? We should be using these eventually, IMO. If we can grab and upload all of these and have a base Miiverse post to look at and reply to with more pictures (the post will be dead anyway after about, oh, 15 minutes LOL), then we can just post screenshots of every sprite a few at a time, and do an image-ripping project.
Also, gotta remind myself that someone wanted a cage picture for the article. Took that, too, so I've gotta upload that. Wanted to use a Pokémon found early, not a late one. Though I did trap Arceus just for shiggles. CycloneGU (talk) 04:03, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Miiverse is a terrible way to get images. All posted images are JPEGs, and so are not of ideal quality. It's fine (but still not ideal) for full-screen images, but for minisprites I wouldn't bother uploading them to the Archives unless you have a capture card or if someone rips them, because eventually someone will have to replace it. --Abcboy (talk) 04:28, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I wondered what format they were (trying to save from a Web browser actually doesn't tell you). So if those would be insufficient, fine, that's one project I won't worry about for now. Maybe I can find some capture card people (streamers basically) willing to take off-stream video of their collections for minisprite purposes. What's the ideal quality? 360, 480, 720, 1080p? CycloneGU (talk) 04:48, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
You need to make sure they take their screenshots at native quality (400x480 pixels for both screens). Any other size will distort the image. Additionally, most video formats are lossy (the JPEGs of video) because videos are generally too huge for lossless video, so you'll want proper, PNG format, screenshots. --Abcboy (talk) 04:55, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough. My Twitch hunt begins. =) (Why do I find it weird that it rhymes with "witch hunt"?) CycloneGU (talk) 05:23, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Well, that's going well so far. Might have to find Youtube video posters and send messages instead, as there are no Twitch channels live on the game. I think streamers grew bored with it and moved on to paid content that doesn't limit their play. CycloneGU (talk) 05:26, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Someone at GameFAQs just suggested to get my images off the camera function. I didn't think the camera would take the bottom screen of the 3DS, but even if it does, is the image quality of those pictures likely to be sufficient?

If you have a N3DSXL - and maybe it works with a normal 3DS as well - try this guide to connect and grab images if you're not sure. I'll be trying it later, myself, after everyone's in bed and there's no other network traffic here, but you'd know if the quality is good enough, so that's why I'm asking you as well. =) I suspect the quality is better than Miiverse, however, or can be set in menus before going into games. It's just that bottom screen for taking sprites, but at least the upper screen can be used for other images of Toy Pokémon (like on "Captured Pokémon"). CycloneGU (talk) 22:23, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

The 3DS camera also saves pictures using the JPEG file format, and saves in-game screenshots in that format as well, such as the images taken during a Contest Spectacular in ORAS. It'll be roughly the same quality as through Miiverse. --Abcboy (talk) 22:27, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Is the quality identical to or better than Miiverse? Can't believe Nintendo brought in the camera concept and didn't think about image format, or decided 3,000 crappy-quality photos was better than 1,000 decent-quality ones. CycloneGU (talk) 00:22, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
I wouldn't know too much about the quality, but a JPEG is still a JPEG. The Nintendo 3DS Camera application can only display JPEGs anyway, so it can't view a theoretical PNG file saved by the system (unless Nintendo decides to system update). --Abcboy (talk) 00:28, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
I guess it becomes a question of whether the lower quality will suffice for the purpose. I'd suggest, because of the fact that it's not going to be zoomed in (unless someone visits the Archives page for each one), that it might work. I did find that the bottom screen DOES get taken (man, I wish I realized this while working on those pages!); in fact, both get taken at the same time, so I had a lot of images of the four buttons visible in the courtyard (now deleted) with other images I was going to try to upload to Miiverse before I knew how it works.
I also saw that the single existing Arceus minisprite started off as a lower-quality one in 2007, then again in 2008, until Masatoshi got a higher-quality 1 KB one in 2014, so even though capture cards make PNG screenshots a thing, I find that those users usually try to do video streaming and such instead, not take pictures for an online encyclopedia. I do have a request to a Youtuber's e-mail, however. If I get a positive response, my screenshots will not be needed. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 01:02, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
I guess you could try getting some icons now, but I wouldn't upload them until the YouTuber you contacted replies or in a few days if they don't. --Abcboy (talk) 02:10, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Exactly, I'm going to give two days. CycloneGU (talk) 03:44, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Image Touchup?

CycloneGU (talk) 18:46, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Whenever you save as a JPEG, you lose data (which is why JPEGs suck). After you edit, you should immediately save it as a PNG to accurately preserve your edits. --Abcboy (talk) 19:30, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I've been noticing. CycloneGU (talk) 20:37, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Coming back up to this, I've gone through a full batch of screenshots. CycloneGU (talk) 00:15, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Shuffle Sprites

Did we ever get those for here? What I'm talking about are the same ones here (Serebii link), and someone said something about a German partner Wiki having them and we should be able to get permission to use them. Just wondering if we erver did that. Could give me another project over at Archives uploading them all (unless we use a cross-Wiki link, I am not sure) prior to changing the template at the list page to accommodate the new images. CycloneGU (talk) 01:29, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

I asked Kogoro whether we could use the images from PokéWiki about three weeks ago; she hasn't responded with their response yet. You could email her or ask her on her talk page how that's going. --Abcboy (talk) 01:32, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Will do, I'll direct her here so we both find out. CycloneGU (talk) 02:02, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
I was delayed in sending the email due to an unexpected bout with an illness that managed to put me in bed for several days. I've sent the email out recently, and the images will be uploaded the moment we have permission to use them. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:33, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Trainer Rematch Data (OR/AS)

Tiddlywinks and I have both been verifying data independently, and I have been leaving the data sitting here in my userspace in finished form for well over a month now, maybe two. Can we say it's safe for us to start adding the data to the articles? The mechanic has been confirmed, and we even confirmed one rematch at Sea Mauville that cannot be accessed in any way (it's in the data dump basically, but we can't get in the room until it improves another level due to needing a certain HM move).

CycloneGU (talk) 16:38, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Looks good. --Abcboy (talk) 19:42, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I'll start adding the data then. Saw this earlier, but was reverting other edits. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 01:20, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Seabiscuit

I reverted inappropriate edits to several pages where footers were added that do not belong. My edits have been reverted. I am reverting them again, but can you please review and determine the correct course of action? I will not revert a third time after this. CycloneGU (talk) 20:01, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Okay, looking at Ash's Pikachu#Related articles, there's quite a few boxes there. --Abcboy (talk) 20:09, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
I'm also not an expert at the anime pages, but I would think that the only footer box belonging there is whoever owns the Pokémon. CycloneGU (talk) 20:17, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
I'd ask a higher-ranking staff member whether it's needed. Honestly though, you should have either removed all of the unnecessary ones or not remove any at all, because you left the pages in this weird limbo where some, but not all, of the people who have ever used it are there. Your reasoning just by looking at the edit summaries and the content wasn't quite sound. --Abcboy (talk) 20:22, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
I was going to review them further later, but Funktastic has already protected them. CycloneGU (talk) 20:27, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Left a message here since that seems to be the anime person. Will see what the guideline is. CycloneGU (talk) 20:43, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Got a reply from Kenji-girl. Seems she thinks the same as I do, so I've gone ahead and corrected everything that is current in the anime (that I know about anyway) to only have the actual owner. I've left the recurring template on Clemont's Dedenne and Ash's Froakie because they did appear in episodes without being owned, later caught in another episode, but I wonder if even that can go. I'm on the fence on that one; it's almost like "recurring" is an ownership status as they can no longer be "recurring" after being caught, but since I suggest former owners still belong, it might fall under the same rule as Ash on Ambipom's page and Dawn on Buizel's page. CycloneGU (talk) 05:14, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

If you say so...

But I don't think having red links in a list of voice actors article makes it look all that pretty, nor is it consistent with what we usually do. You're the boss, though. サトシ101 (talk) 22:10, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Red links show that the page needs to be created and demonstrate that the page's topic meets the Notability requirements. There's very few reasons to remove a red link to page about a notable topic. --Abcboy (talk) 23:21, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Requesting assistance on creating a template

Hello, Abcboy. I was wondering if you could provide some advice on using #if and #ifexpr in a template as I seem to not be able to set up the template in a way that will allow it to be used depending on the number of moves it will need to handle. (The article is here if you want to know more.) - unsigned comment from Super goku (talkcontribs)

You shouldn't use one template for tables like that. Try making three: header for the column headers, div for first turn and follow up, and entry for each move. You can look at Move variations for what I'm talking about. This should make the template easier to manage. --Abcboy (talk) 03:35, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
True, but I thought that there was a limit of 100 templates that can be supported on an article at one time. Is that actually incorrect? --Super goku (talk) 04:12, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
No, that's not even close. Try counting the number of "{{" on pages like the National Pokédex listing or Ash Ketchum. I'd still try testing the templates with the entire page's content in your userspace, though. If that breaks, then there's still some other methods to try and lower the amount of templates. --Abcboy (talk) 04:25, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, I kinda figured out what I was thinking of. Back quite a bit ago, there was an issue on the article for Hugh over templates. Apparently, that stuck with me since apparently something was resolved by February of last year. So, thank you for you help in this. :D --Super goku (talk) 04:30, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Well, it looks like the templates are working fine. I would like to ask if I can be allowed to move it into the mainspace, though I would be alright with any suggestions that you would like to make to them if you feel that they need them. If so, "Sandbox/Contest Template/h" is the first and "Sandbox/Contest Template" is the second. Either way, thank you for your help in this. --Super goku (talk) 05:53, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

About your edit to Cheating

Just wanted to thank you for rewording my addition to the Cheating page about the 3DS browser exploit. It sounds a lot better the way you put it. :) Flarn2006 (talk) 02:58, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Ash's Pikachu

Are Junior Admins. able to edit protected pages?

If so, can you keep tabs on the talk page discussion? It's going rapidly, so it might be possible to make a decision based on agreement as to the version of the page to use later this evening; as I speak, discussion isn't concluded, so no need to rush it. CycloneGU (talk) 20:17, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

I'll try, though it seems some other staff members have also taken an interest in the discussion (including one of higher rank than me). Also, you can view the list of rights for each usergroup here. --Abcboy (talk) 20:22, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
I replied to Aggron before realizing he also replied. LOL So yeah, looks like interest was sparked on this. CycloneGU (talk) 20:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Wow. I had no idea I felt so strongly over this subject. LOL Making a pretty persuasive case. Hope I'm not being annoying to anyone in doing that. CycloneGU (talk) 17:43, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

{{red link}} template

Just letting you know that the {{red link}} template doesn't really needed to be used to link uncreated/deleted pages from the User: namespace, because that page will not appear in Wanted Pages. This is what you did here. (Seabiscuit2020 already made that article from his userspace) Only links to non-existing articles from the mainspace will appear. Kogoro told me about that when I red linked my two deleted pages from my userspace. --~~ThePokémonFanSince1995~~-- 06:32, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

"Multiple Image"

It looks like SaturnMario wishes to test a new template, but created the template in mainspace and immediately started using it in articles. I have reverted all changes. Can you advise further, since you're staff and staff have to approve templates anyway, on further steps to follow? Having created a template for the Shuffle list, I obviously am aware of the procedure, but for something requiring staff approval it might be better coming from staff.

It also looks like my move doubled up the "User:" bit. Since I can't delete redirects, can you please fix that mess rather than I move it again? CycloneGU (talk) 23:13, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

UPDATE: Berrenta already fixed my move error, so maybe it's already under control. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 23:15, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Surge's Raichu

Ah, I see that the games are mentioned in the lead and now see that both are covered in the infobox. I guess also that the newly established guideline only applies to official game events (like the two Ash's Pikachu, Serena's Braixen, etc.) and not to things that are normally in the game (like this Raichu)? I thought the infoboxes were now being used under the "general games=/=anime stance", but if that only applies to events, then it makes sense to leave it. There is a games section further down the page, so I was under the presumption that the male status would only go there. CycloneGU (talk) 02:01, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

A lot of the Gym Leaders' Pokémon are Pokémon that were featured in the games/anime/Adventures, so the game info should stay in the infobox especially since the Adventures info is going to stay, just like with human characters who are cross-canon. Pokémon like Ash's Pikachu, who first and foremost are anime Pokémon are the ones where that information is irrelevant to the infobox. --Abcboy (talk) 02:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I am not familiar with Pokémon Adventures and considered it different from the games, but I had thought that games and anime were always separate. Either way, in Raichu's case, it has an Adventures confirmation anyway. I do see the point about them being primarily game characters, though the fact that it starts off with an anime blurb does make it more confusing. Oh well, I'm sure it will make sense. =) CycloneGU (talk) 02:55, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Colo/XD text dumps

I've made myself "text dumps" of all the "string tables" in the Colosseum and XD games, which should be all the strings the game can use outwardly. They're a bit messy in some ways, but would you want to include those games in the text dumps table on your user page?

On a sidenote, do you have any interest in text dumps of any other Pokemon games? (Literally any, at least on Nintendo console/handheld lines; even something like Pinball.) I have no immediate plans to pursue any other games, but it could certainly happen at some point. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:27, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Yes, feel free to include the two GameCube games. Even if it's messy, it's not as though it's easy to find anything in even the clean ones without using Ctrl + F. Other games aren't as pressing but still would be nice to have, of course. --Abcboy (talk) 23:31, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
I uploaded them to a file host I trust. You're more than welcome to download and relocate the links if you'd like, though.
After a while, I was able to clean up things much more than I had before, so the only particularly messy thing about it now should be the sometimes confounding functions/variables. (It appears Mediafire won't let you "View" the Colosseum file, but I don't know why, unless it's too big. And if you View the XD file there, some of the text won't display right (like POKéMON as POKéMON), but it should be just fine if you download it.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:19, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
Can you also get the string tables from the other languages of the games? --Abcboy (talk) 10:38, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
I got the EU string table data. But the Japanese string tables are something of a problem. Their headers can actually be formatted so they're impossible to reliably distinguish from random data, so I'm gonna try to work a sort of reverse-engineered approach based on what I've gotten from the EU/US dumps. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:57, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Done. And there's a few random IDs that were in the EU/US ROMs but not the JP; but there are also a few IDs in the EU ROM but not in the US and vice versa, so that could be trivial.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 06:48, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for getting these text dumps! --Abcboy (talk) 23:58, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Interwikis

I'll do that. Just going to list the board information (what appears in each stage to help you) and finish my personal research before checking what else they have that I can add. =) That one with five Unown will definitely not be a picnic to try to S-rank, however...just got my first S-ranks in 2-3 through 2-6, now debating doing the others. CycloneGU (talk) 04:36, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Editing Templates

Hey, while you have the power to edit templates that are restricted to normal users, it's best to discuss and consult the rest of the staff (particularly the Editorial Board) before making major changes to widely used templates such as the EpisodeInfobox. You have our AIM contacts so don't hesitate to use it. Thanks. --Pokemaster97 00:26, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, I personally thought my edit was just a few changes to the CSS code to clean it up a bit. There was some code that was redundant and uneccesary. (class="roundy" does the same thing as {{roundy|10px}} without another template call) I'll try to make sure to do that in the future. --Abcboy (talk) 00:51, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Fansubs

True, most are. But there are some that closely translate to what is being said though. If you listen carefully without reading the sub, you can hear Brock mention something about pokemon with the same ("onaji") something being impossible ("arienai") to act that way. - unsigned comment from Handmaiden 101 (talkcontribs)

If you can understand enough Japanese to not be going blindly off the fansub alone, then it's fine. --Abcboy (talk) 01:54, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
So it's still not okay?-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 02:19, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
I would consult a user of higher rank than me for further details, but unless you understand enough Japanese to prove the fansub accurate, it probably shouldn't be added. --Abcboy (talk) 02:24, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Curious

As I get into the later stages of Rumble U documentation, I'm running into fewer and fewer videos that document playings of the stages. Right now, I have reched "The Three Little Tepigs" in the middle of the Chill Battle area and have locked down Magby and Whismur as a capsule cage exclusive and a reward Pokémon...in some unknown order. How detailed are our partner Wikis on the subject of what's in these post-game stages? CycloneGU (talk) 19:06, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

PokéWiki, our German partner, only has short articles on the first four areas. Being that PokéWiki is by far our most comprehensive EP partner, I imagine none of our partner wikis have much detailed info on Rumble U. --Abcboy (talk) 19:23, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
That's what I was worried about. I don't think this LEt's Play person will be going back to check them all.
Interestingly, one task is to use Magby in the mission after getting Magby. In the past, these have typically been rewards, so that might be a clue. It might not be, too. You have any idea where else we can verify this stuff outside of playing? Getting the list for each stage is the easy part. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 19:51, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
BTW, I am hoping to grab this on the Wii U someday. Just not liking that I would have tasks I can't personally complete because the stupid little figurines never came to Canada, and they are needed for one or two tasks (I think) (I stand corrected; even Pikachu nowadays turns into a Vileplume.
Is the Wii U shop still charging a premium price for this? Otherwise, I'm just verifying what I can by sight and seeing if I can get some help, but otherwise, that's it. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 20:20, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

The User xx-0 categories

Recently you flagged thosed categories as to be deleted due to being empty. There's one issue preventing their deletion: they are already in use as links by a table in the staff page as defaults, and they were created to prevent them from appearing on the Wanted list. I'll see what alternatives we could use. Berrenta (talk) 15:31, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps we could just delink the categories? It's not the most purposeful link on the table, in any case. I marked the categories for deletion because I noticed the corresponding template, {{Babel 0}}, was deleted, breaking any use of {{User xx|0}} on user pages. --Abcboy (talk) 19:35, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Curious v2.0

Soulweaver hasn't been here since December. Since I've now put the first ten areas in and pretty much added more detail than he had on the two pages he had started, can we perhaps remove the mainspace tag from this and this?

CycloneGU (talk) 04:02, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

It doesn't matter much whether {{mainspace}} is on those pages still or not; if anything I'd delete them, but only users of admin rank or higher can delete pages. The Spriters' Resource has Battle Trozei sprites. You should contact whoever uploaded the sheet to see if we can use it.
paint.net transparency works as so: use the "magic wand" tool (magicwand.png) to select an area of color. On the top toolbar, there should be a "tolerance" bar; set it to 0% to select only adjacent identical colors. Press the "Delete" key, and you should see a gray and white checkerboard pattern where the color was.
You can check if it worked by going to the Layers window (bottom-right) and clicking Add New Layer (newlayer.png). The new layer should be above the actual sprite; click and drag it down to move it below the one with the sprite, and then click on the empty layer to switch to it. Switch to the Fill tool (paintbucket.png). If you see the word "Image" in the top toolbar, click on it and change it to "Layer". Then, fill the empty layer with a color such as pink. If it worked, you should see the image surrounded on a pink background. --Abcboy (talk) 08:52, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
If that was confusing, this video might help. --Abcboy (talk) 09:00, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
I'll take a look.
I'll ask about the Battle Trozei sprites at that resource. CycloneGU (talk) 15:03, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
The BT sprites there are already transparent. --Abcboy (talk) 15:14, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
Oh, beautiful.
And even more beautiful, a VERY quick response.
Hey!
Thanks for getting in touch! You are definitely welcome to use the sheets from Battle Trozei. I think many of us here, myself definitely included, consider Bulbapedia a valuable resource and if a sheet or two from tSR can help make it better, by all means go for it!
If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask.
That almost comes across as a "blank check" of sorts; Petie seems to be a fan of Bulbapedia as well and is happy to help in any way possible. I inquired about a sprite sheet for Rumble World and if it's possible to get; I did notice a file at SpriteDex that seems to be claiming it, but I have not yet reinstalled WinRAR since my new hard drive was put in. Any way you can check the file there and see if it's useable? If it would be, we can go ahead and seek permission. (Meanwhile, I should look for my WinRAR install...) CycloneGU (talk) 15:51, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
They're all 64x64 transparent images of the models (they're the same as the ones on their Pokémon pages). According to their credits page, those images may come from Serebii, as they got their Trozei sprites from there. A cursory look shows that most of the images are the same/very similar, so they may not be the original source. --Abcboy (talk) 20:02, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
Wow. They're not even the right sprites. Here's a copy of Mew that I saved from the bottom screen; it's a 24x24 inside of the blue border (which I did recolour to the same blue pixels throughout). It only shows his head. That model on Mew's page at that site shows the entire body. Same with Bulbasaur, I'm sure. CycloneGU (talk) 02:47, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
If you haven't already split up the Battle Trozei sprites, I can work on those while you upload the Shuffle sprites. --Abcboy (talk) 15:29, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Go ahead, I'm nearing the end of the Shuffle sprites. Going to start uploading them later today. I'll have to create another template for the Battle Trozei format, but I'll do that one right in mainspace this time once there's an initial "MissingNo." to put in the template as default. CycloneGU (talk) 15:31, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Here you go. --Abcboy (talk) 17:38, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

That Template

Left a message at archives too, BTW.

I notice the last edit left the template looking like junk code, so I'm offering assistance if you want it. Am I guessing, based on the suggestion to secure area screenshots previously over at Archives, that this template is for possible future use in individual area pages for Pokémon Shuffle (which I also agree needs a split now LOL)? I'm still not a template wizard, but I might be able to help with construction if something's amiss since I've tinkered with a few now. What do you want the final row to look like?

If you don't need my assistance with the template itself, that is also fine; I hope I can offer other ideas, however! CycloneGU (talk) 03:23, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Since you haven't said either way yet, I did play with it in preview. This seems to work on the template page and removes the junk code, but under userspace policy I have not saved it.
{{{1}}} Shuffle151.png Mew Psychic 4,896 20 10% 4% 5 First Event Stage
Hope this helps and makes this still look right! I can help with creation of other pages, if needed. CycloneGU (talk) 03:57, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
When you responded, I was working on adding more confusing code, but now it works in every situation you could think of. Obviously, the code could be simplified if that functionality is unnecessary, but it should now work with every stage list on Pokémon Shuffle. --Abcboy (talk) 04:30, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Ah, you made it look really fancy. =)
I like that you added documentation; I know Wikipedia puts documentation, which is basically the equivalent of an essay on template usage, on the discussion page; therefore, there is no talk page for templates, and they redirect you elsewhere for that purpose.
I did submit the template to HT14 at Archives, so that's under admin control now. CycloneGU (talk) 04:44, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Even though the tables may be gone in a few days at Pokémon Shuffle, I'm helping Pokéfan95 add the images to them for now. He thought that might be a good idea, and I agree with him. I'll pick up from the expert stages, but I'm taking a break, so just did the formatting and set him loose on it. =D CycloneGU (talk) 05:40, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

About PMD GTI location template

I think that you should split the template in two parts: Via Magnagates in one and the Key locations, Dungeons and Downloadable Dungeons in another and then but them in the corresponding article.
Since they are separated in the game I think the templates should be too. --Raltseye (talk) 11:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

What do you mean by "separated in-game"? The template is already separated into four sections. --Abcboy (talk) 13:29, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
What I meant by "Separated in-game" was that you press 'Magnagates' to access Magnagate dungeons and 'Continue' to play the rest. And by that I think that it should be two different templates one with magnagates and one with the rest. So that the Magnagate dungeon articles have a template with the Magnagate dungeons in it and the other articles like Post Town, Pokémon Paradise and Mountain Pass etc have a template with Key locations, Dungeons and Downloadable Dungeons in another because are they not connected to Magnagate dungeons by gameplay. --Raltseye (talk) 20:13, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
I don't really think it's necessary. (they're still in the same game, after all) --Abcboy (talk) 21:49, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
I think simply making the Magnagate section an expandable would solve whatever problem there is. glikglak 22:41, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

First Column

I'm not sure I like hiding the first column. I'd suggest have "Pokémon" with a column span of 2 like I use, and have the coding instead change the entry in that column to itself have a column span of 2 if nothing is entered in the first column. That way, both cells are still utilized no matter what happens in the first cell. This also lets individual rows hide the column and the "Icon" column isn't sitting there looking silly in some rows.

That said, it should only be used in Pokémon listings, so it should never be empty. CycloneGU (talk) 15:29, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

The first column is for the stage number, but things like "Seize Hold of Pinsir!" or "Escalation Battle" don't have stage numbers, and that's where it's hidden. Obviously, since the template just spits out whatever you put in the first column, you can also put things like "Keldeo Rears It's Head" there. Also, making an entire column have the same colspan is not ideal for things that interpret the code (for example, pasting learnlist tables into Excel causes a pile of empty columns to show up) --Abcboy (talk) 15:37, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
You have the column titled "Icon". That's the point here. Keldeo Rears Its Head! is not an icon. CycloneGU (talk) 16:45, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
The first column is before icon. It's not shown on the template page because there it's left blank. --Abcboy (talk) 16:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
I just realized that, but it should be shown on the template so it's clear it matches the intent. And my suggestion for combining icon and name into one column still stands. Both represent the Pokémon, why use two columns? Especially if the table is later made sortable? CycloneGU (talk) 16:53, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Actually, to show what I mean, I'll make a quick edit to the template. All I change is the header, so the template itself functions no differently. CycloneGU (talk) 16:56, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Header has been modified here. The colspan makes the column sort by the icon text (so Audino (Pokémon) for example), and not be the displayed text (which would be Mega Audino). That could be fixed with a data-sort-value attribute, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. --Abcboy (talk) 18:32, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Not sure that sorting is even necessary, either, on those tables. But when I saw icons and names split before, sorting either column sorted exactly the same, so I actually removed the sorting on the icons on the table in question. CycloneGU (talk) 19:34, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Didn';t even address "Mega Audino". I think it's all right sorting Mega Audino in with Audino. Keep it with the main form. CycloneGU (talk) 19:35, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Column Widths

The reason behind them is to make the tables uniform, thus presenting a more professional appearance, from stage to stage, and optionally from page to page (though it can differ per page if there's a substantial difference). I did this as Pokémon Shuffle as well, though I understand your project will eventually depreciate those tables in any event. With the width removed from the one, it makes the table look wider, which is not the intent.

Also, when I upload the images, the images will cause a two line length anyway, so there's no harm caused by the 250 width since that will allow for two lines in most cases anyway. CycloneGU (talk) 20:52, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Problem:
Row Long description
1 Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
Specifying the column width of long description:
Row Long description
1 Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
Most, if not all CSS-compliant browsers will render the two above tables at the same width, making the Row column ridiculously wide. If you want to limit the width of a table, you have to limit the width of the table:
Row Long description
1 Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
--Abcboy (talk) 21:00, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
It is true that mobile devices would of course render the tables the same width and they would look the same that way. The concern is the different widths of the tables on a page that has a long width itself (such as a computer screen). The text will automatically extend the width "as your "bla bla" line does", and I don't want it to do that, but also don't want to use <br> tags to resolve that problem when setting a width is a more clean solution. The tags can in fact even cause the appearance of unneeded space. CycloneGU (talk) 21:03, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
I just reread the comment again. I will reanalyze the width scenario as far as tables go after dinner. Just heating some stuff up, then the image uploads will be after that; it's better to experiment in previews once the new images are in (created the Bulba template for pulling them earlier today). CycloneGU (talk) 21:09, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
All right, I have attempted your suggestion. This is what happens. The preview test had "Order" not set to a width, "Pokémon" in fact set for a 130px width (both columns), "Type" and "HP" at 60px and 40px respectively, and "Appearance" not set per your suggestion.
So to better explain why I use column widths instead of table widths: it causes, internal columns to always be a set width in every single table, without deviation. CycloneGU (talk) 22:17, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
I have been informed that the problem noted above (where the first two tables appear to be the same width, despite the columns being set differently) is a WebKit (Chrome/Safari) issue that isn't present in other rendering engines.
I'm fine with it either way—I was just addressing the complaint Lady Ariel made. As long as it appears reasonably on most browsers/screen sizes, it should be fine. --Abcboy (talk) 22:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
Ah, this is good to know. I also noted Lady Ariel's concern and actually was writing this when you made the column edit. I believe it's better to make it so it appears as uniform as possible everywhere; the only possible concern is tables forcing themselves over on some smaller devices, making reading harder there, but a large number of columns would make this unavoidable anyway. I did resolve this in a sandbox table I created with some 30 columns by using <br> tags to make the column text vertical (using tags between each letter), and that seemed to work; it still took most of the screen length even that way on a wide laptop. (That table is currently hidden as I determined there isn't much to go by regarding differences in certain settings there, so I won't be using the data other than to show how many traits each Rumble World category has; you can use preview and look at it if you want to, or check the history. LOL) CycloneGU (talk) 22:46, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Type Colouring in Tables

What is the quick and easy method for having cells auto-populate the colour based on the type entered? I have determined this would be a great idea for the "Type" column of the tables, but I only see it built into templates as this example from "ShDex" shows:

| style="text-align:left" | {{p|{{{3|Mew}}}}}{{#if:{{{7|}}}|<br><small>{{{7}}}</small>}}
| style="background:#{{{{{4|Psychic}}} color}}" | [[{{{4|Psychic}}} (type)|<span style="color:#FFF">{{{4|Psychic}}}</span>]]

Removing the template bits and using the Psychic example (I also remove the if, which depends on a foreign template entry that remains unchanged):

| style="text-align:left" | {{p|Mew}}
| style="background:#{{{{Psychic}} color}}" | [[{{Psychic}} (type)|<span style="color:#FFF">{{Psychic}}</span>]]

I can't make heads or tails of the result, which brings up a move box for Psychic alternative moves instead of the type. Changing to something else (like Normal) literally blows it up. So I went to the page source to find:

<td style="background:#F85888"> <a href="/wiki/Psychic_(type)" title="Psychic (type)"><span style="color:#FFF">Psychic</span></a> </td>

So I'm trying to figure out how to pull the colour and set it on the table. Clearly that HTML is the end result in the page source code; the question is how to pull that F85888 and such. CycloneGU (talk) 23:51, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

I should add that I have played with the actual code and gotten it to work:
Order Pokémon Type HP Appearance Conditions
1 Bulbasaur Bulbasaur Grass 10 None
My question is therefore whether there's a template to automate the code for just that cell or whether I have to type this out every time. CycloneGU (talk) 00:01, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
I hope Abcboy doesn't mind, but template {{Typetable}} will work for it. Lady Ariel 00:17, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
That's what I was trying to find! Experimentation shows it works; further experimentation reveals how to put it on the same line right after the Pokémon's name (where two | separate entries on the same line). Will begin using this right away as I edit the tables. Thanks Lady Ariel! CycloneGU (talk) 00:24, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Ranch - Editing

Hi there, I'm trying to improve the Ranch page by adding some screenshots I took. However, I can't upload those screenshots as I don't have permission. Can you help me out on that? Thanks! CY (talk) 06:47, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Per the notice at the top of this page, Abcboy is unavailable from now until July 4. It might be quicker for you to contact another staff member in the meantime, or I otherwise might be able to offer assistance myself tomorrow. CycloneGU (talk) 06:59, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Oops, didn't see that. Isn't too much of a rush, but I'll be grateful if you can help out. CY (talk) 07:02, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
I'm going to bed now, but if you leave details and links here (I'd say on my talk page, but other staff might be monitoring here instead), I or someone else can assist with it by tomorrow. CycloneGU (talk) 07:19, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Here's the link to the table I'm making now: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/My_Pok%C3%A9mon_Ranch#Initial_toys . I'm basically uploading screenshots of each toy. Thanks! CY (talk) 07:22, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Do you have any pictures available anywhere (like, uploaded to Tinypic or somewhere like that) so we can see the quality? You can also put them in a ZIP file and put them in a Dropbox as well. CycloneGU (talk) 13:59, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Would Google Drive work? I use that normally. CY (talk) 00:55, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I suppose it would, provided we can link to and easily access it. CycloneGU (talk) 01:17, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

They seem to be PNGs, which is a bonus. Just to verify, you took these yourself? Or you otherwise own them? I don't want to upload something you may have picked up from another site, so I'm just checking. If they are owned by another site, we would have to obtain permission. If you took them yourself, meanwhile, then what I can do is upload and categorize them; you can edit the information attached to them once they are uploaded. CycloneGU (talk) 01:39, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Yep, I took the screenshots. CY (talk) 01:41, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I've uploaded two new toys as well! CY (talk) 01:45, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
The only concern I have is that the images have the area of the screen surrounding, and are not transparent (see for instance sprites like Bulbasaur from the series I'm uploading right now to see what I mean, it's transparent around it and these images really should do that too). What I will do is upload them for the time being and send you a message at your Archives talk page (I can create that, if needed) so you can put in summaries, and I will also ask an Archives staffer whether it's possible to get them without the surrounding green and perhaps even the shadows underneath. It might be possible to later replace them with updated versions like that.
I'm simply going to note that every one is from Pokémon Ranch so they link back to Bulbapedia, I'll leave it to you to add the information on what they are. You don't need more than that over there in the description, which is in the list already. CycloneGU (talk) 01:53, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I'm a little confused with the complex steps involved. Can you run me through summary, description, and whatever else I have to do? CY (talk) 02:15, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, I was waiting for a reply at the Archives talk page and just found this reply now.
If you would like to edit what each toy is in the summary section, go to each image page this is one of them and click to edit the page. Don't change anything else, just edit where it says "A picture of a toy from My Pokémon Ranch" and edit in what the toy is. This will help you learn how things work over there by seeing the categories and the license tagging in the source, as well. All I left for you to do is edit in the toy names, if you want to do that. Use "Recent uploads" to find the image pages, they should be there. I'm not going to upload other images this evening, though others might. You can also find them in my contribution history on the Archives side. You know it's the Archives side if the URL starts "archives.bulbagarden.net". CycloneGU (talk) 04:45, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! I've edited them all. All that's left to do is to link them into the table. CY (talk) 05:13, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I noticed the edits. If you need help uploading images or figuring out settings for uploading in the future (try next time, just in case), just give me a ring over there. If I don't answer in a reasonable amount of time (a day), ring me here, too. LOL Meanwhile, I think Pattyman is working on new versions without the green background. If that occurs, I'll likely be able to go ahead and complete the table myself later. I'll likely change the licensing to sprites at that point as that's basically what they will be by then, but I'll discuss that first.
Just remember you also have your Archives talk page, too (I also have one). If you have questions on anything regarding uploading of images, etc., those can be utilized for that purpose such as I created yours. =) CycloneGU (talk) 05:24, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I've uploaded two more screenshots. I've removed the other ones so that it's more convenient. Thanks! CY (talk) 06:22, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
