Tapu Lele first appeared in True Identity and the Totem Pokémon of Brooklet Hill, where it was seen by Moon and Mallow flying above Lush Jungle, where an Ultra Wormhole appeared. Tapu Lele fought the Xurkitree that appeared out of the wormhole and was able to hold it at bay until Moon interfered, shooting a Pokéball at the Glowing Pokémon. In The Wild Full-Power Pose of Fire, Gladion attempted to take Tapu Lele to help him fight the Ultra Beasts. Since the Land Spirit Pokémon was still recovering from its battle with Xurkitree, Gladion was easily able to take it. Despite the combined effort of their attacks, Tapu Lele easily blows the group away. As his Trainer refuses to give up, Dollar evolves into a Torracat and manages to land a hit on Tapu Lele. While the attack didn't harm Tapu Lele, it acknowledged their determination and flew off.

Tapu Lele was later seen in person flying above Lush Jungle, where an Ultra Wormhole appeared with a Xurkitree emerging from it, attacking it. After the it escaped, Tapu Lele gave a scowl and flew off to somewhere else.
Six months later, the guardian deities begin leading the rampaging Ultra Beasts to their respective islands so they can receive help from the Trial Captains and island kahunas to defeat them. Tapu Koko (Japanese: カプ・コケコ Kapu-Kokeko) is the guardian deity of Melemele Island.

History

Tapu Koko first appeared in The Delivery of Rotom and the Girl, where it appears before Sun and Moon around Hau'oli City. Tapu Koko proceeds to attack the two, forcing Sun to battle it. Sun sends out Cent and Dollar to fight the Land Spirit Pokémon. The two manage to hold their ground but their attacks seem to do nothing to Tapu Koko. After a few exchanges of attacks, Tapu Koko escapes and leaves behind a Sparkling Stone. It is later mentioned during a meeting of the island kahunas, where Hala, island kahuna of Melemele Island, reports that Tapu Koko has recently appeared to large groups of people. He notes that the guardian deities remain deep within their respective ruins rarely revealing themselves to humans, yet have recently appeared in public places filled with people. Hala comes to the conclusion that they have been angered.

The next day at Mahalo Trail, using its powers, Nebby causes a large explosion that breaks the bridge it and Moon were standing on, leaving both to fall into the water below. Moon and Nebby are then saved by Tapu Koko, who flies down and catches the two and brings them back to safety before quickly leaving again. In The Final Match and a Surprising Finale!, Sun wins the Iki Town festival tournament, and was appointed with delivering a Mirage Berry to each of the guardian deities to help calm their rage.

In Summon the Emissaries of the Moon and the Sun, the four guardian deities take Sun and Moon to the Poni Altar, where they have them play the Sun and Moon Flute. With the melody of both flutes, Sun and Moon caused the Altar to release a bright light that caused Nebby and another Cosmoem to evolve into the Legendary Pokémon Lunala and Solgaleo, respectively.

Six months later, the guardian deities begin leading the rampaging Ultra Beasts to their respective islands so they can receive help from the Trial Captains and island kahunas to defeat them. Soon after, Tapu Koko begins fighting a Guzzlord, and receives backup from Olivia.

Personality and characteristics

Tapu Koko is a protective Pokémon and cares deeply about the inhabitants of Alola. Despite normally staying away from people, it will save those it sees in danger.

Tapu Lele (Japanese: カプ・テテフ Kapu-Tetefu) is the guardian deity of Akala Island.

History

Five years prior to the Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc, Tapu Lele gave Kiawe his Sparkling Stone.

Tapu Lele is first mentioned during a meeting of the island kahunas in The Delivery of Rotom and the Girl, where Olivia, Akala Island's island kahuna, reports that it has recently appeared in public places. Hala notes that the guardian deities remain deep within their respective ruins rarely revealing themselves to humans, yet have recently appeared in places filled with people. He comes to the conclusion that they have been angered. In The Final Match and a Surprising Finale!, Sun wins the Iki Town festival tournament, and was appointed with delivering a Mirage Berry to each of the guardian deities to help calm their rage.

Xurkitree used the interference to escape and Tapu Lele left shortly after, glaring at Moon and Mallow.

In The Wild Full-Power Pose of Fire, Gladion attempted to take Tapu Lele to help him fight the Ultra Beasts. Since the Land Spirit Pokémon was still recovering from its battle with Xurkitree, Gladion was easily able to take it. After learning from Moon how the battle went, Gladion left Tapu Lele with her to heal it as he saw it as too weak to help him.

Soon after, Tapu Lele begins fighting a Kartana, and receives backup from Acerola.

Personality and characteristics

After winning the fight, Hapu presents Tapu Fini with the Mirage Berry, as Sun can't use his arms. Tapu Fini accepts the Berry, and seeing Hapu's strength and abilities, gives her a Sparkling Stone and recognizes her as island kahuna of Poni Island.

Soon after, Tapu Lele begins fighting a Buzzwole, and receives backup from Hala and Hau.
