Platinum, also referred to as The Eighth Chapter (Japanese: 第八章 プラチナ編 The Eighth Chapter: Platinum) is the eighth story arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga, consisting of three volumes. It began serialization in March 2009, and ended in July 2010.
This arc follows Lady Platinum Berlitz as she enters the Battle Frontier to gather information on the mysterious Distortion World so she can rescue her original bodyguards Paka and Uji. Joining Platinum is Looker, member of the International Police, who aims to investigate the villainous Team Galactic. Meanwhile, using the notebook they took from the fleeing Charon, Diamond and Pearl set out to gather information on the various Legendary Pokémon of the Sinnoh region.

- Platinum arrives at the Battle Zone and meets Looker.
- Platinum starts to challenge the Battle Frontier to gather information on the Distortion World.
- Diamond and Pearl set out on a journey with Dr. Footstep and the Sinnoh Pokémon Association Chairman.
- Charon captures Heatran.
- Palmer is revealed to be Pearl's father.
- Diamond and Pearl part ways with their companions. They meet Rotom again, and it joins their group.
- Giratina appears in Eterna City.
- Diamond is hit by Giratina's Shadow Force while saving Pearl. His body disappears.
- Platinum enters the Distortion World together with Palmer, Riley, Mira, and Cheryl.
- Diamond finds himself in Distortion World and meets Cyrus.
- Dialga and Palkia are freed.
- Paka, Uji, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum reunite.
- Giratina appears and is defeated in Sunyshore City. Charon is arrested by Looker.
- Cyrus disbands Team Galactic.
- Looker is called to the Unova region.
- Looker gives Diamond Manaphy's Egg.
