In the anime
A Steelium Z appeared in A Grand Debut!, where Hapu presented Ash with a box full of type-specific Z-Crystals and allowed him to choose one of them as his prize for defeating her. Ash let Pikachu make the choice, and he chose the Steelium Z. In Beauty is Only Crystal Deep!, the Ultra Guardians used it, along with Ash's Grassium Z, Normalium Z, Solganium Z, and Rockium Z, and Lillie's Icium Z, as bait for a Pheromosa.
Another Steelium Z appeared in Beauty is Only Crystal Deep!, where it was one of the Z-Crystals stolen by a Pheromosa.
A full set of replicas of the type-specific Z-Crystals, including the Steelium Z, appeared in A Team-on-Team Tussle!, where they were shown to Ash and his classmates by Professor Kukui.
