During the course of the series, at least eleven Gym Leaders from the region were introduced, and some [[rival]]s, such as {{un|Cameron}} and [[Trip]], were shown to have gone through other unknown Gyms.

Despite this, Drayden is still the current Gym Leader of [[Opelucid City]].

The Unova League (Japanese: イッシュリーグ Isshu League) is the regional Pokémon League of the Unova region. The Unova League is composed of the Unova Gym Leaders and the Unova Elite Four, along with the League Champion. Pokémon Trainers who earn eight Gym Badges by defeating the Gym Leaders of the Unova League qualify to challenge the Elite Four located in the Pokémon League building.

In the anime

Iris, the current Champion of Unova League

In the anime, Trainers who collect eight Badges are eligible to enter Unova's championship competition, the Vertress Conference. As revealed in Ash Versus the Champion!, the winner of this competition receives the right to participate in the Unova's Champion League.

Pokémon the Series: Black & White

The Unova League has a few differences from the games; due to Ash's journey in Unova only covering a single period of time in Pokémon the Series: Black & White, the Unova region featured Gym Leaders from both major Generation V releases, having two Leaders specializing in the Normal type in its roster, two who specialize in the Water type, and only one Dragon-type Leader.

During the course of the series, at least eleven Gym Leaders from the region were introduced, and some rivals, such as Cameron and Trip, were shown to have gone through other unknown Gyms.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series

In Thrash of the Titans!, Iris was revealed to be the current Champion of the Unova region and that Alder no longer held the position. In The Fiery Road to Mastership!, it was mentioned that Iris gained her status after winning a battle that gave her the Champion title.
