Egan (Japanese: ヤケイシ Yakeishi) is a character of the day who appeared in Some Like it Hot.
Egan is a Fire-type Trainer, and like Misty, he wanted to catch and raise only Pokémon of his preferred type. As a result, he wanted a giant Magcargo that was blocking Ash and his friends' path towards Blackthorn City. However, the Magcargo was very powerful, and Egan's first attempt to battle it ended in failure.
His impulsive behavior and sharp comments sparked an intense rivalry with Misty over whether Fire-types or Water-types were the best. Over lunch, Misty decided to settle their differences, and the pair began to get along. Egan had a rematch against the Magcargo and, after heeding Misty's advice of adaptability in a match, defeated and caught it. Misty and Egan teamed up to defeat Team Rocket with a combined Flamethrower and Water Gun attack.

Ash and his friends first stumbled upon this giant Magcargo after it was blocking the path towards Blackthorn City. Ash yelled at it, causing Magcargo to wake up in a rage and retaliate with Flamethrower. Misty sent out her Poliwhirl to deal with it, but Magcargo's protective shell was a great defense against its Water Gun and it knocked Poliwhirl out with another Flamethrower. Egan tried to catch it, though his Flareon was ultimately defeated as well.
Egan later caught Magcargo with the help of his Flareon. Afterwards, Team Rocket stole it, but Egan was able to get it back. Magcargo used its Fire moves to subdue Jessie's Arbok and James's Victreebel. Finally, with the help of Misty's Poliwhirl, Magcargo was able to blast them off.
Magcargo's known moves are Rock Slide, Body Slam, and Flamethrower.
