Dark Void (Japanese: ダークホール Dark Hole) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation IV. It is the signature move of Darkrai.

Effect

Generation IV-VI

Dark Void puts all adjacent foes to sleep, with an accuracy of 80% for each Pokémon.

Targets with Insomnia or Vital Spirit as their Ability are unaffected by Dark Void.

Targets affected by Sweet Veil as their Ability are also unaffected by Dark Void.

Pokémon Method

Darkrai Darkrai puts its hands together and forms a crimson and black or purple and black ball in its hands. It then fires it at the opponent. When the opponent is hit, a crimson or pink bubble appears around the opponent's body that soon disappears and makes them fall asleep; or, Darkrai creates a crimson ball and holds it above its head, releasing multiple smaller balls from the larger one all around its body. When the small balls hit the opponent, they form a pink crimson bubble around it that fades away into dark crimson. Once the sphere disappears, the opponent falls asleep.

  • Since Generation VII (excluding Pokémon Legends: Arceus), Dark Void has the lowest accuracy of all status moves, signature moves, and Dark-type moves.
  • In The Rise of Darkrai, when using Dark Void for the second and third times, Darkrai exclaims the move's name. This does not happen in the original Japanese version.
    • In the Brazilian Portuguese dub, probably due to an oversight, Darkrai says "Dark Void" when using the move for the third time instead of a localized name.
