Pummelo Stadium (Japanese: カンキツスタジアム Kankitsu Stadium) is the main landmark of Pummelo Island. The leader of Pummelo Stadium is Drake, the Orange Crew Supreme Gym Leader. All four Orange League Gym Badges are required to challenge him. Trainers who defeat him in a Full Battle receive the Winner's Trophy and are accepted into the Orange League Hall of Fame.
In the anime
The stadium is a colosseum atop a hill overlooking the city. A statue of a Dragonite, the guardian of Pummelo Island, is situated at the top of the stadium. Similar to Pokémon League Conference stadiums, there is a giant screen standing above the battlefield that displays each Trainer's Pokémon. In the battle for the Winner's Trophy, whenever three of either Trainer's Pokémon are unable to battle, the field is changed.
Pummelo Stadium first appeared in a flashback in A Shipful of Shivers, when a Haunter created an illusion of its Trainer, the Captain, winning the Orange League three hundred years before, using his Gastly against another Trainer's Beedrill.
In Hello, Pummelo! and Enter The Dragonite, Ash challenged Drake for a Full Battle on his journey through the Orange Islands. He first fought on a rock and water field and then a sand field. The exhausting battle eventually went to Ash, earning him the coveted Winner's Trophy and entered him and his Pokémon into the Palace of Victory.

- Main article: Drake's Dragonite
Knowing a variety of attacks, Dragonite was Drake's powerhouse and Drake's sixth and final Pokémon to be used in battle. Dragonite was used to battle against four of Ash's Pokémon - defeating his Charizard, Squirtle, Tauros, and even breaking from battle to send Team Rocket blasting off, before finally being defeated by a close-range Thunder from Ash's Pikachu.
In the manga
The Electric Tale of Pikachu
Pummelo Stadium appeared in The Orange Crew Supreme Gym Leader and Pikachu's Plan. Unlike in the anime, the stadium hosted a tournament with multiple Trainers in this canon, similar to the Indigo Plateau Conference. After winning enough matches, Ash was allowed to challenge Drake, the Orange Crew Supreme Gym Leader.
After Pikachu had defeated Drake's Ditto, Ash proceeded to defeat four more members of Drake's team, leaving Drake with his strongest Pokémon, Dragonite. The Dragon Pokémon defeated Ash's Squirtle in seconds and then also proceeded to defeat Ash's Charizard, leaving Ash with just Pikachu. Dragonite's overwhelming power was almost too much even for Pikachu, but the Mouse Pokémon managed to avoid certain defeat from its Hyper Beam by using Reflect to protect itself. This allowed Pikachu to jump onto Dragonite and use Thunder inside its mouth, defeating it and earning Ash a spot in the Orange League Hall of Fame.
Trivia
- In the English dub, Drake once refers to the stadium as the "Pummelo Gym". This name is never used in the original Japanese version.
