Three Island (Japanese: 3のしま Island 3), commonly referred to by fans as Kin Island (Japanese: おやこしま Family Island), is the third island in the Sevii Islands archipelago. Its nickname of "Kin Island" refers to how it consists of a larger island (the "parent" island), connected by a bridge to a smaller island (the "child" island). It is east of Two Island.

Three Island, like most of the other Sevii Islands, has a town on it, Three Island. It is the most populous town of the seven, but unlike towns in mainland Kanto, it is a very sleepy town.

Another oddity of Three Island is that, unlike the other Sevii Islands, the Seagallop ferry port is not within the town itself, but instead in a separate area called Three Isle Port.

When the main character in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen first arrives in town on Three Island, they will have to fight off a gang of rowdy bikers to restore the island to peace.

East of the port, a gold miner digs a tunnel, eventually transforming it into Three Isle Path, which opens into a secret area of Three Isle Port where rare Dunsparce live.

On the west side of Three Island is the Bond Bridge, which leads to an islet that has a forest growing on it. This Berry Forest contains trees that grow Berries in profusion; however unlike in Hoenn, these Berries cannot be replanted to grow more, but instead regenerate time after time.

Children are cautioned against playing in the Berry Forest, as wild Hypno inside the forest have been known to use Hypnosis on children and lead them astray. Lostelle has to be rescued from one of these Hypno.

FireRed & LeafGreen arc

In A Vicious Cycle of Possibilities, the Kanto Pokémon Federation arrived on Three Island, planning to terrorize its citizens and steal all the Berries from Berry Forest, but were suddenly attacked by Deoxys and then confronted by Giovanni, who expressed his disgust at their half-baked efforts for evil and named the Pokémon that had attacked them. This incident was witnessed by Lostelle, who told Bill about it, with Bill relaying the information further on to Red and Blue.

Trivia

  • There are an uneven number of stairs on the island, meaning if the player travels from Three Island Port to Berry Forest, they will go up four sets of stairs from sea level, but down three, and still end up at sea level.
