While normally generous and bighearted, she loves to battle hard, along with hitting the opponent's weak spot with unflinching accuracy. Her battle style is described as severe and stoic. It is believed her harsh battle style was influenced by the fight she had with her son. Melony's Gym is considered a major roadblock by many Gym Challengers who visit it, the reason being the powerful Gym Trainers having been trained by her strict and very effective coaching. | While normally generous and bighearted, she loves to battle hard, along with hitting the opponent's weak spot with unflinching accuracy. In PASS18, Melony met Henry Sword, Casey Shield, and Marvin in Circhester. She asked Henry to repair an ice cane belonging to her Mr. Rime. Once the cane was fixed, Melony recalled how she caught Mr. Rime, revealing that she was responsible for the cane breaking in the first place. When Henry admitted he hadn't fully completed the repairs, Melony suggested he keep Mr. Rime, noting that it preferred Henry's company more. Afterward, Melony faced Henry and Hop in Gym battles, which she lost. | In Chomp!! It's Dracovish, Melony met Henry Sword, Casey Shield, and Marvin in Circhester. In PASS25, the Galar Gym Leaders gathered at Rose Tower to find out if Rose intended on bringing harm to the region. While Oleana kept the Gym Leaders busy, Henry, Casey, Bede, Hop, and Marnie went up to meet Rose, only find he was elsewhere. On a video screen, Rose announced his intention to restart the Darkest Day and ensure the safety of Galar's future. Power Spot lights began appearing all over the region, causing Pokémon to start Dynamaxing at random. While some went back to their hometowns to help deal with the rampaging Dynamax Pokémon, Melony traveled with the others to the Hammerlocke Energy Plant. Upon arriving and meeting with Leon's group and found Rose ecstatic that his plan was a success. | In [[PASS25|Rumble!! In PASS27, Rose explained he meant no harm to Galar and sent Sordward and Shielbert to defeat Eternatus and prevent the Darkest Day from spiraling out of control. Despite their claims of being descendants of the heroes that once stopped the Darkest Day, Sordward and Shielbert were unable to win, forcing Rose to take their place. Oleana explained that Rose's actions were for the benefit of Galar and requested that everyone help stop Eternatus. The group agreed and made their way to the summit, where they found Rose had already been defeated. Melony (Japanese: メロン Melon) is the Gym Leader of Circhester's Gym, known officially as Circhester Stadium. She specializes in Ice-type Pokémon. She gives the Ice Badge to Trainers who defeat her. In Pokémon Sword, her son, Gordie, takes her place as Circhester's Gym Leader instead.
In the core series games
Melony is the sixth Gym Leader Galar Trainers face in their Gym Challenge in Pokémon Shield. She has been the Gym Leader of Circhester since her twenties. She is also the only known Gym Leader to have ever defeated Raihan, who is said to be the strongest Gym Leader in the Galar League.[4] At one point, she wanted her son Gordie to run the Gym as her successor. However, her son wanted to be a Rock-type user instead. This led to a battle that caused the whole town to split, with the two never speaking to each other again. Despite this, Melony somehow became the first member of Gordie's fan club.
After Melony's initial defeat, the player is awarded with the Ice Badge, TM27 (Icy Wind), and the Ice Uniform.
League Cards
This is a transcript of the back of Melony's League Cards in Pokémon Shield.
- Normal League Card
- "Melony has been a Gym Leader since she was in her twenties. She is also known as a very effective coach, but her coaching style is incredibly strict. Her battle style is fittingly severe and stoic, as well. Any Gym Trainers who manage to remain under Melony are sure to be powerful opponents. Thus many see Circhester Stadium as a major roadblock for Gym Challengers. Many quietly speculate that Melony's harsh battle style is due to a fight she had with her son."
- Rare League Card
- "Melony wanted Gordie to take over as the Gym Leader of Circhester, while Gordie wanted to dedicate himself to Rock-type Pokémon. The Pokémon battle between the two ended up dividing the whole town. Ever since that day, Melony and Gordie hardly ever see each other. That being said, Melony supposedly managed to become the first member of Gordie's fan club. Gordie seems to have a complicated expression in their photo together, but then again, that may just be one's own imagination..."

Pokémon Adventures
Melony debuted in Shocking!! Reunion in the Forest. Unlike the games, she and Gordie share the Circhester Stadium and alternate who acts as its Gym Leader. She was first seen talking to Bea on the phone about Bede's forced withdrawal from the Gym Challenge.
In Chomp!! It's Dracovish, Melony met Henry Sword, Casey Shield, and Marvin in Circhester.
In Rumble!! The Horrific Darkest Day, the Galar Gym Leaders gathered at Rose Tower to find out if Rose intended on bringing harm to the region.
In Shock!! Chairman Rose's Plan, Rose explained he meant no harm to Galar and sent Sordward and Shielbert to defeat Eternatus and prevent the Darkest Day from spiraling out of control. By teaming up, Melony, Piers, Leon, Hop, Nessa, Marnie, and Raihan managed to take Eternatus down, only for it to get back up and unleash its Eternamax form.
In GRRR!! The Irrepairable Gears, Eternatus quickly overwhelmed Melony and the others, only for Zacian and Zamazenta to appear and assist in the battle against the Gigantic Pokémon. They attempted to wield the Rusted Sword and Shield, but the items and Henry were snatched out of the air by Eternatus. Zacian and Zamazenta struck Eternatus at the same time, creating a massive blast of light. By the time the light cleared, Henry, Zacian, Zamazenta, Eternatus had vanished. Melony and everyone injured during the battle were taken to a hospital to recover from the effects of Eternatus's poison.
In PASS35, after taking special medicine, Melony and the others began to recover from the effects of the poison. By PASS40, everyone had fully recovered from the poison and were discharged from the hospital. After traveling to the Isle of Armor and reuniting with Casey's group, Melony and Bea chose to stay behind and help fight off the Darkest Day, which had begun once again.
