The Glitter Lighthouse (Japanese: かがやきのとうだい Radiance Lighthouse) is a location in Olivine City, Johto.
The Olivine Lighthouse or Olivine's Lighthouse (Japanese: アサギのとうだい Asagi's Lighthouse, alternatively アサギシティのとうだい Asagi City's Lighthouse), usually shortened in English as  simply the Lighthouse (Japanese: とうだい Lighthouse), is a location in Johto.

Amphy is an Ampharos here who serves as a beacon for the lighthouse. Recently, Amphy has become ill, and Jasmine, nurturing Amphy to health, will not leave for any reason.
It is also known as the Glitter Lighthouse (Japanese: かがやきのとうだい Radiance Lighthouse), Port Lighthouse (Japanese: みなとのとうだい Port Lighthouse), or in the anime as Shining Lighthouse (with the same Japanese name as the Glitter Lighthouse).

She asks the player if he or she will Surf to nearby Cianwood City to get a special medicine, then bring it back to her.
Terminology
The name of this area as seen on the map is Lighthouse (Japanese: アサギのとうだい Asagi's Lighthouse). This name is seen when the player enters this area, and is also recorded as the meeting location for a Pokémon hatched here. In English games, the city name is not mentioned, unlike in the Japanese version.

While Jasmine has no junior trainers in her gym, the lighthouse poses a challenge which provides more than enough of a counterbalance to it, as there are many trainers on each of its floors.
Character dialogue
This place is often used in the character dialogue. It is consistently referred to in Japanese by full name, including the city name

Items
* Lighthouse
* Great Ball
*: Several non-player characters refer to this as just "Lighthouse" in English, even though they often use the full name in the Japanese dialogue.
* Ether
*: In HeartGold and SoulSilver, a television commercial uses this lowercase common noun with no city name in English: "Come see the lighthouse!" Once again, the Japanese version also uses the longer 「アサギのとうだい」 (Asagi's Lighthouse).
* Super Potion
* Lighthouse at Olivine
* Rare Candy
*: In HeartGold and SoulSilver, the non-player character who blocks the east exit in Mahogany Town uses this name.
* 34
* Olivine Lighthouse
*: In Gold, this is the name seen on the sign outside the entrance.
*: In Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver: Super Music Collection, this is the name of this place's music theme.
* Olivine's Lighthouse
*: In HeartGold and SoulSilver, this is the name seen on the sign outside the entrance.
* Olivine City's lighthouse
*: In Masters EX, this is mentioned by Jasmine.
* Olivine City Lighthouse
*: In Masters EX, this is the name of the replica lighthouse used to decorate the Trainer Lodge.

Trainers
In the core series games, the longer Japanese name 「アサギシティのとうだい」 (Asagi City's Lighthouse) is also found in the game dialogue. However, the equivalent names "Olivine City Lighthouse" or "Olivine City's Lighthouse" are not used anywhere in the English version.

According to the entrance sign, this place is also known as the "Glitter Lighthouse" (Japanese: かがやきのとうだい Radiance Lighthouse), but this name is never mentioned anywhere else in the games. In the Japanese version of the anime, the lighthouse is referred by this name, but it was translated as "Shining Lighthouse" in the English dub.

It is here that Trainers will first find Jasmine, the Olivine Gym Leader, from a hint by Silver. Amphy is an Ampharos who serves as a beacon for the Lighthouse. Recently, Amphy has become ill, and Jasmine, nurturing Amphy to health, will not leave for any reason until Amphy is cured. In Generation IV, Gentleman Preston and Lass Connie are actually Trainers from the Gym, and will return there once Amphy has been cured. Also in Generation IV, once the player has spoken to her, Jasmine opens a door for them leading to an elevator that goes from the top floor directly back to the bottom.

The Olivine Lighthouse, known as the "Shining Lighthouse" in the English dub, remains an important landmark and a popular tourist attraction in Olivine City. However, a neighboring electric lighthouse now does most of its work. An Ampharos has historically been the light source, and this tradition continues under Myron's watch.

In Fight for the Light!, Ash and ashfr ventured over to the Shining Lighthouse so Ash could challenge Jasmine to a Gym battle. However, Jasmine was too concerned about her Ampharos, Sparkle, because it was ill. TRT showed up on the scene and in their scheme to capture Sparkle, but were foiled by Janina and her Onix. Ash and his friends agreed to join Janina in traveling to Cianwood City to get medicine for Sparkle. They obtained the medicine in the following episode, and Janina returned to Olivine City with it, while Ash's group decided they would travel through the Whirl Islands first.

In Throwing in the Noctowl!, the light of the Shining Lighthouse helped Wings Alexander through the thick fog and avoid crashing his plane, which had Ash's group and Team Rocket aboard, into the Olivine sea cliffs. Janina, Jasmine, and a fully recovered Sparkle waved from the Shining Lighthouse as the plane corrected its course.

The lighthouse was featured on Lyra's presentation about Johto's landmarks in the Johto Festival in An Egg Scramble!.

Character dialogue

This place is often used in the character dialogue. It is consistently referred to in Japanese by full name, including the city name

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, this place is referred to as the "Port Lighthouse" (Japanese: みなとのとうだい Port Lighthouse) in one of the Pokégear calls.

In Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys, this place is known simply as the "Lighthouse" (Japanese: 灯台(とうだい) Lighthouse), with the Japanese version written in kanji.

Glitter Lighthouse

According to the entrance sign, this place is also known as the "Glitter Lighthouse" (Japanese: かがやきのとうだい Radiance Lighthouse), but this name is never mentioned anywhere else in the games. In the Japanese version of the anime, the lighthouse is referred by this name, but it was translated as "Shining Lighthouse" in the English dub.

In the core series games

It is here that Trainers will first find Jasmine, the Olivine Gym Leader, from a hint by their rival. Amphy is an Ampharos who serves as a beacon for the Lighthouse. Recently, Amphy has become ill, and Jasmine, nurturing Amphy to health, will not leave for any reason until Amphy is cured. She asks the player if they will travel across the sea to nearby Cianwood City to get a SecretPotion, then bring it back to her.

Olivine City Lighthouse replica in Pokémon Masters Masters EX

Jasmine mentions this as "Olivine City's lighthouse". She says that Ethan got medicine for Amphy in the past.

Jasmine forms a sync pair with an Ampharos. She says that the (unnamed) lighthouse keeper has been training this Ampharos to become Amphy's successor in the lighthouse.

Once the player reaches friendship level 100 with Jasmine in the Trainer Lodge, they can purchase a replica of this lighthouse in the Lodge Exchange to display in the Trainer Lodge.

In the anime

The Shining Lighthouse in the anime

The Olivine Lighthouse, known as the "Shining Lighthouse" in the English dub, remains an important landmark and a popular tourist attraction in Olivine City. However, a neighboring electric lighthouse now does most of its work. An Ampharos has historically been the light source, and this tradition continues under Myron's watch.

In Fight for the Light!, Ash and his friends ventured over to the Shining Lighthouse so Ash could challenge Jasmine to a Gym battle. However, Jasmine was too concerned about her Ampharos, Sparkle, because it was ill. Team Rocket showed up on the scene and in their scheme to capture Sparkle, but were foiled by Janina and her Onix.

Olivine Lighthouse in Pokémon Adventures

Pokémon Adventures

HeartGold & SoulSilver arc

The Olivine Lighthouse briefly appeared in Pleased as Punch With Parasect when Silver and Crystal's ferry approached Olivine City.

Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys

The Olivine Lighthouse appeared in A Spectacular Battle To Save Ampharos!! when Jasmine told Gold and Chris how the Ampharos taking care of it had gotten sick.

Trivia

 • In Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, Jasmine leaves the top floor by walking north, where the only visible exit would be by falling into the hole. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, there is an elevator available on the north wall, but Jasmine does not take it; instead, she leaves by walking south and going down the ladder, even though this way is actually a dead end.
 • Jasmine makes a reference to this lighthouse when she meets the player in Sunyshore City. She says that one of the reasons Sunyshore reminds her of Olivine is because it has a tall lighthouse like her hometown.
