I see that for every pokemon, there is a helpful box that tells us where to retrieve this pokemon, and in what version. I would like to suggest that we also include the level you meet it at. I'd do it for a lot of articles, and for all the Pokemon who I do know this information about. - Zelrio | I see that for every pokemon, there is a helpful box that tells us where to retrieve this pokemon, and in what version. I know it's a little late to say this, but I was wondering if the "ryu" from "Staryu" could derive from "ryuusei" ( 流星; りゅうせい )? Ryuusei means shooting star/meteor in Japanese, and I think this fits Staryu perfectly-- seeing how it moves around and uses Swift in the air. Then again SM already has Minior, which is the true Meteor Pokemon. What do you guys think?

== Ultraman Reference ==
I wondered why this article made no mention of the reference to Ultraman. Its Japanese name is Hitodeman which seems to be a riff on Ultraman. It seems to be extraterrestrial like Ultraman. Its cry is similar to Ultraman's "Hiya" rather than a traditional Pokemon cry where it says its name. Its red jewel even blinks like Ultraman's when they are both low on health! it is a very obvious reference to the series though (I added it, didn't know it was included and erased before, feel free to remove it again, though i made a reference to the whole series, not a single character, just like the lokix Kamen rider reference which is also very obvious).
ultraman is probably the oldest and most popular superhero/kaiju series, although it is very little known in the West
if you are just fairly familiar with the series the reference is hard to miss
though i understand about issues of copyright and such (however clearly sometimes game freak doesn't care that much xD not sure if they communicate with the other parties involved but perhaps they do)
as mentioned above and is (currently) written in the trivia section there are many (obvious) similarities, also keep in mind that they have a similar target audience, so references are not unlikely
it has a huge impact on regional popculture (influencing similar series, kids wanting ultraman related stuff instead of marvel superheroes etc)
(considering several pokemon also have cultural, popcultural and mythological aspects that may occasionally (and naturally) be overlooked by those outside the region)
in short: it's a very obvious and clean reference, and may be not known by people around the world, so i found it worthy of mention
thanks for the read | |||

:Referencing the entire franchise is fine, just not a specific character. Just because something is obvious to you or a large group of people doesn't mean it has to be added. It still needs to make sense to the Pokemon in question, which the Ultraman references do.--<span style="color:#44BAE5">F</span><span style="color:#85D2EE">orce</span><span style="color:#DA7D99">F</span><span style="color:#E7ABBD">ire</span> 05:36, 17 December 2022 (UTC) |

It's simply just a round gemstone. Besides, we don't even know if it's completely spherical or flat on the back. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 14:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Egg Moves
I was thinking we should list Staryu's Egg Moves for Gold and Silver, assuming, of course, we note that they're only for Gold and Silver. Would that be too much? Rawr I say! 20:37, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Staryu has egg moves in Gold and Silver? I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 21:36, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, the article says it does, and I don't know if it can only learn them by level up anyway. That's the point to my question. Rawr I say! 15:11, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
