Please stop changing the sprites to the newer ones. It isn't consistent, since Diamond/Pearl/Platinum sprites aren't the same as Red/Blue or Gold/Silver sprites. Also, "it's been agreed to use older sprites for older games". --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 01:01, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

It has not been agreed, go to the damn forums and follow the policy that "whatever was on the page before the dispute is what is used until after a decision is made." MoldyOrange 01:03, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
But it is WAY more consistent. Not being consistent is a bad thing. --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 01:04, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the more consistant decision is keeping everything what is was before, which is policy, until an actual decision is made. Having old sprites when it is highly unlikely that it will pass is incorrect until a decision is made, especially since the new style negates the need for sprites anyway. MoldyOrange 01:07, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Lt. Surge

On Lt. Surge's page, you made something incorrect by reverting all of my edit. You made it say that Electabuzz is his 3rd Pokémon in Generation II, when it's actually his 5th (and last). Next time, please look at all of the edit you're reverting. --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 01:35, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

You know what, I don't care what you have to say anymore! You have hurt my feelings extremely and I still refuse to forgive you because it hurt too much. So shut up and just suck it up and change it for God's sakes, instead of complaining whenever anything I do affects you in the smallest way! MoldyOrange 01:41, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
How exactly did I hurt your feelings? I never said anything offensive to you! --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 02:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Section header's pretty offensive. TTEchidna 02:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't see how it could be offensive. Moldy's used a similar header on one of my talk page comments, and I didn't find it offensive at all. --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 12:14, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Just because you don't find something offensive doesn't mean nobody will find it offensive. Just bear that in mind. Cipher (Talk) 13:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Fine, I changed the header. Happy now? --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 14:39, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Pokédex data order

I switched it because that's the order in which it appears on the cards. These data boxes were first used for Base Set where, yes, the Pokédex number appeared last on the card. It's too much of a job to change the order for all DP cards, but I think it should be in the right order for Stormfront onwards, given the fact that the cards no longer have Pokédex entries. It wasn't an edit in disagreement with yours or anything like that, that's just how I've done all Stormfront pages so far, and I didn't want there to be any inconsistencies. Cipher (Talk) 11:24, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Entry Pack '08 and Entry Pack '08 DX

Are both pages really necessary? I mean, I know they're different products, but so are Moonlit Pursuit and Dawn Dash, and so are Cry from the Mysterious and Temple of Anger. Wouldn't we be able to merge the two pages, improving all the information in that article (probably under the Entry Pack '08 title), part of which would include information on each product and stating how the DX version is a deluxe version (other than the inclusion of the Raichu half deck)? Cipher (Talk) 16:41, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, go ahead. They say most of the same information anyway. MoldyOrange 18:55, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Would that involve deleting '08 and moving '08 DX, or am I okay to just move the necessary data over to '08 and change '08 DX into a redirect? Cipher (Talk) 19:10, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
There isn't a good way to merge pages, so no deletion necessary, just move the info from DX to '08 and create the redirect. MoldyOrange 19:12, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Gift Box DPt card articles

Right, yesterday the Japanese TCG website revealed a new gift box and twelve of the cards that would be in it. I don't want to put the page into the mainspace until the full half deck contents get revealed, but if you take a look at my main userpage, I'm doing card articles for the eleven Pokémon cards that have been revealed. I've translated all the cards and written up the pages, but with the userspace's three-edit limit in place, I can't put them all up there at once. Is there any way I'd be allowed to put them up there now rather than having to do it over a period of three days? Cipher (Talk) 12:30, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Template:Bad Picture Section

How exactly does the other template work better? If we just use a template that says "The picture in this article is unsatisfactory", the person looking at won't know which picture we're referring to. --Chocolate (talk to me) 23:07, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Dude, "article" and "section" do NOT mean the same damn thing! --Chocolate 00:23, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Look-

This User's editing history I don't have the power to issue a fourth warning. Can you?--RexRacer -talk 21:47, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

I also do not have the power to issue a fourth warning, go higher up to the burecrats. (I need to learn how to spell that) MoldyOrange 21:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I dont think any are on. He's getting a break, cause if Poli were on...--RexRacer -talk 21:49, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I do not have the power to use user rights log...I cannot help! MoldyOrange 21:50, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Either he's disobeying the rules, or he just doesn't know we're talking to him...maybe he doesn't now how the message alert thing works. And since he put his user page on the mainspace, I don't think he knows what or where or how to get to his talk page. M-o, can't you block him?--Tavisource 21:51, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Block is a harsh thing to do, just wait for a bur. to see and ban him from the userspace. MoldyOrange 21:53, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I've blocked him from userspace editing (I believe, it's the first time I've used the feature). Twenty-five edits over limit, and four warnings... I would expect after a little while, he might have figured out how to read his talk page at the least. If he really didn't see the warnings, well, he's got plenty of time to figure out how the talk system works now.
I assume he'll need to be granted userspace editing capabilities after a bit, right? I don't know the policy on that yet, it's never come up for me. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:59, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
The ban has only been given once, by TTE, and that person was banned for about a month and a half. 25 is way over the limit, so I say unban him in two months. MoldyOrange 23:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Someone will probably need to remind me on that one, hehe. A shame we can't set user rights to have an expiration date, like blocks or protection. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 23:07, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I guess that would be useful for you guys, not that I would know... MoldyOrange 23:09, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm fairly positive that he knew how to access the talkpage. After I told him how to use the usertags they suddenly started working. Sorry about that. I thought that showing him the right format would stop the minor editing, but it just started a new wave of them.--RexRacer -talk 23:17, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Not your fault he only listened to your comments selectively. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 23:33, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
On the note of the deleted comment, you cannot give the warnings out of order, they may have edited over, but they slipped the radar. However, if they edit the page after the warning, you can add the second. MoldyOrange 23:38, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
But in twenty two minutes, it will be a new day, according to the server. MoldyOrange 23:38, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep. My, today has been a rough one for the Userspace...--RexRacer -talk 23:39, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Stormfront card images

SP252 suggested I ask you about this one. I'm thinking about this because, with recent sets, there have been card articles with no images at all, which just means the list of articles with no card images keeps getting bigger and bigger. What I'm considering doing is uploading Japanese card images for Stormfront cards so that we have card images for the immediately and can replace them with English card images whenever we get them (like when I eventually scan in SF). What do you think? Cipher (Talk) 16:13, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, of course! The original reason we have images is for the artwork, not the text itself. Now, would these be images from the japanese card website, which are a little small for my taste, or are they actual scans of the Japanese cards? And changing them to English is a simple thing to do, just upload a new version of the image already on the page. I don't see a problem with it, and for some I would actually prefer the Japanese (like the Japanese shiny Pokémon that were sadly turned reverse holo in English). Don't worry about that evergrowing list... cards get off of there all the time, it doesn't really seem to go either way; so, cards going on the list is not a problem. MoldyOrange 22:53, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
As always, they'd be from the Japanese website, as they're the highest-quality images of the Japanese cards available. I'll get onto that later on. Cipher (Talk) 08:23, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Well, it's been changed.

Now you just need to login on Archives and News and the relinking will be complete. TTEchidna 00:41, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

NO!!!!!!! I can't be wrong...this must be a drea, (panicking)...no!!!! Anyways, I don't understand why you deleted Ultimatecharizards tags.--Tavisource 02:21, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

The way he copied and pasted them caused his page to be categorized as a usertag on pages listing usertags. --RexRacer -talk 02:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

So is mine a problem? I have customed ones too.--Tavisource 02:24, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I spent about twenty minutes trying to find and fix all the problems, but my computer screwed up and I got tired of fixing other user's problems from the stupid userspace junk. I did it out of frustration because I didn't want to spend an hour on that page. His page was categorized in template categories because of his screw ups, that was the problem. He can add them back the correct way anytime. MaverickNate 02:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
And, your page is fine. You didn't copy paste the coding for the categories when you added the tags. MaverickNate 02:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh...I see. Well, then, I'm good with it. I'm gonna go watch some tv now.--Tavisource 02:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

New Special Energy Template

Which, with permission, I'd like to implement, as I have a day off today. The template itself is here and the proof of the pudding is here. The gallery isn't part of the template, by the way, that's just for cards that have had more than one illustration, such as the Stormfront ones. Can I implement it? Cipher (Talk) 11:58, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that looks good. All I wanted was the two artworks to be shown and both illustrators to be credited. Your template works fantastically. MaverickNate 22:58, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I've just completed the whole thing: all pages now use the template, galleries implemented where necessary, higher-quality scans for all Special Energy cards from the EX Series onwards uploaded. The older Energy images have been tagged for deletion on the Archives, though - sorry about that, but now that the new template is fully implemented, it won't be happening again with Special Energy images. Cipher (Talk) 12:24, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Don't be sory that you tagged them! That helps me greatly! MaverickNate 14:46, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Fan Pokémon

I have noticed that when users are creating fan Pokémon, they will use tables and such from real Pokémon articles, which are constructed so that the imputted moves are automatically linked to. Oftentimes these fan Pokémon will have signature moves not found in any Pokémon media. So it will link to ...(move)(Not yet written). This created broken links appearing in the broken links page. And we have no reason to have broken links for these, as they are fan-made moves. Is there a solution?--RexRacer -talk 23:31, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, there is. Do you know where the problems are?...they are hard to explain. MaverickNate 01:38, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
I know that there is one here, and i spotted another one today as well. I'm not on my normal computer, however, so I can't check.--RexRacer -talk 01:47, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Okay, the main problem was that he used Template:PokémonInfobox when the userspace version for fake Pokémon is Template:PokémonInfoboxNoncat...that is the same for move, that template is Template:MoveInfoboxNoncat. MaverickNate 01:54, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey!!!

Not nice...why move mine and not other people's?....and could you unprotected, I will keep my promise not to move it again...take my word for it.--Tavisource 04:12, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

If you promise not to move it again, then it doesn't need to be unprotected. You can still edit it, it is only protected from moves. MaverickNate 04:13, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh! I get it...but I promise...unless an admin tells me to, of course.---Tavisource 04:20, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

GB Decks

Would now be a good time to add Ronald decks and such? And add other club-member decks when I add them? Gligar 15:58, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Yep, everything should be good now. Just add the decks in alphabetical order to the non-Auto deck area. I will trail behind you if you make any mistakes, so don't worry about that (I'll also be making sure that the names are consistant, since we already ran into one where it wasn't). But, the top shouldn't be edited, only the bottom section. You are free to add whatever you need to. If you have any questions, just say something to me. MaverickNate 16:02, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Agreed with Kuki. Chocolate 19:40, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm glad that you two would think that having ill-represented links to Pokémon pages is better than being more correct than anything, when having both shows exactly what the Pokémon is and also what the nickname is. Just so you know

My edit here had an incomplete summary, but I meant to put "I find it odd that you changed "Mr. Mime" to "Mr.Mime" when you supported "Mr. Mime" a few months ago." I was trying to fix my wording, but while I was holding the backspace key, I accidentally hit "Enter", so I didn't get to finish my summary. Just wanted to let you know. Chocolate 19:56, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't notice that. But you could have fixed it without bitching. MaverickNate 20:01, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
How could I have fixed it? There isn't a way to edit an edit summary, is there? Chocolate 20:04, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
He's talking about the edit, not the summary. Jmath 20:06, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

DP-P Promo Translations

I ended up having the same issue as you, I could never translate the whole card. I'll have another look if I have time later on this week, but unless they eventually come out in English, they might have to wait a while. Cipher (Talk) 18:00, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what you mean. Are you saying that it was decided to keep the precise method of cloning on here, or that it was decided to leave it off? --ニョロトノ666 03:58, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

That we weren't supposed to have any "guide" type descriptions on mainspace pagesbecause they all belong in Appendix:. Isn't this what the problem is, someone was describing away to clone in the mainspace, even though it shouldn't go there? MaverickNate 04:00, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Vending "Checklist" card images

Since you've managed to obtain decent images of the majority of the vending cards, do you have the checklist ones too (they have a list of cards for a deck with 3 Pokémon images at the top)? I have only seen one, and it is too small for me to read. With a decent sized image, I might be able to get the actual name of each card and get the translations done. Thanks, ~~nuva-kal 18:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Uh...

Where did you get permission from User142 to delete his userpage? I mean, I can understand clearing out his userspace full of erroneous pages, but the userpage itself typically shouldn't be deleted unless it's blank or permission from that user has been given... So, why did you delete it? --ニョロトノ666 00:05, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect, The rule, as it is or as I have been led to believe, is blank pages, permission, or it can be deleted if it is just a page of red links with nothing else. That was all it is... a virtually blank page because it had two links two deleted pages, that was all. And, if the said user has a problem with it, he can make a comeback from his two years of no edits and request that it is restored. MaverickNate 00:18, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

What I've managed to get is "Are you a Pokémon of the open sea?", but I do not know if I have the right characters as the font for the deck name distorts a few of them. What makes me more unsure are the Pokémon in it, as they are mostly ghost types. For checklist 2 I'm more certain, as the content fits the name. I think the name is "Rich Rich Ownwer of the Pokémon Mansion!", but I would still like a second opinion. I also accidentally pressed save when toying with the layout of the article, so the checklists will appear blue until the names are sorted. ~~nuva-kal 14:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Of course they have short tempers. I've already accepted the fact that the bulbapedia crowd is not the brightest bunch, so I really don't care at all what they think. "Messing with them could possibly lead to something more - something much worse. " OMFG death threat. That's harrassment right there. Scarfcrosspwns 02:20, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Scarfcrosspwns, it's not a death threat. It's a block threat. Admins can block users from editing here, and that will likely happen to you if you continue messing with admins. Chocolate 02:24, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Those attacks

でんげき is dengeki and is the Japanese word for "electric shock". Breaking it into its components gives us the literal translation of "electric attack". Meanwhile, でんきショック is denki shokku ("denki shock"). It also means "electric shock", but uses different wording in Japanese. It uses a word for electricity (something like "electric emotion") followed by the English word "shock".

I'd recommend using a literal translation for dengeki--"electric attack" or "electric strike", or something like that.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 02:47, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Wait, would deleting his page really save space? I mean, the deletion log will always be around so that admins can view or restore the page. The deleted page has to be put somewhere for that to work. --((Marton imos)) 00:14, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Thats what Ive always wondered, when they delete Non BP Discussion from talk pages, arent they taking up more space, as every edit creates a new page to be added to the history?

Japanese help page

There's no need for such a page? Probably half the mainspace pages have Japanese text. Someone has to read it, and not everyone has Vista or a Unix-based system. In fact, I'd say the majority of visitors didn't get their computers with Japanese support out of the box. It's like saying that we don't need a page on how to make templates because most people won't need to edit templates. --Raijinili 23:27, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

There isn't a need for such a page. One: it wasn't categorized. Two: It was poorly worded and written. Three: Most of it wasn't true, because guess what! All I see is boxes, but I am the biggest contributor on the Japanese of the cards. That totally contradicted the first rule, and consequently, the second. Four: the isn't a need for a page like that. If they wonder how to contribute in Japanese, check it out somewhere else. It wasn't even that helpful. MaverickNate 23:32, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
1) Not being categorized doesn't say anything about the potential usefulness of the page.
2) It was something I typed up quickly. Whether or not the page was poorly written has no bearing on whether or not the page should be created.
3) What operating system do you use? What browser?
4) It's relevant to editing Bulbapedia. That automatically qualifies the topic as something which should have a help page. As for it not being helpful, it was just a skeleton for a page. This is a wiki, so we can be expected to work together to improve pages. Besides, it's a topic for which the experience of each user may be different from over a hundred different other users, and thus it's hard to get it right the first time.
Anyway, stop trying to get me to flame you.
I noticed that you also deleted Talk:Selphy. Might I ask why? I see no reason why a mainspace talk page should be deleted if it doesn't contain material that should be hidden, or is full of irrelevant discussion. --Raijinili 23:52, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Wow, that last statement totally lost my respect towards you. Anyway, I use internet explorer. MaverickNate 00:08, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I think, Nate, what he's trying to say is that most Bulbapedians don't understand Japanese and to help them, we need a page full of shit Japanese explanations and such. Although it shouldn't be too detailed, in my opinion. Just an explanation of "no" and names should do fine. No, I think he's saying we should have a page like this. And I agree. --((Marton imos)) 00:49, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
well, if thats the case, he should have made it obvious, instead of starting with "so, you want to edit in Japanese". it should be noted that my computer can also not read japanese characters. its also worth noting, making an article under the "Bulbapedia" namespace, is almost always admin territory. -- MAGNEDETH 00:56, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
It should've been "Help," definitely, and it was confusing. But I definitely think such a page would be helpful, if only so that signatures stop appearing to people as a bunch of question marks. --((Marton imos)) 01:00, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

The Warning

I explained to you the reson why there was an extra edit. For me, it was 2 different days, when I realised I immediately told an admin of my mistake, I dont think it warrants a warning. Can you please remove it. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

p.s this is my first warning about the user space. This is the only time ive gone over the limit and it was an accident, as I thought it was 2 seperate days. And it was in my timezone. Im sorry for this misdemeanour and ill make sure it doesnt happen again, but can you take away the warning. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

But I didnt break the law, I made 3 edits that day, and he still warned me even though I was perfectly within the rules. Plus when he wrote that, I had only made 2 edits that day, surely that doesnt count as a warning. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Nope, based on Bulbapedia midnight, you had four edits that day to the userspace. MaverickNate 18:16, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Nope. Check my edit history, this is the first time Ive ever edited 4 times in a day. DCM warned me after 2 edtis. CHECK the history of my page. DCM's warning was illegal, as I had broken no rules. So please can you edit your comment to say 1st warning. As the one from DCM is illegitimate as I had not broken the rules. Again, check the history. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Nope, even if his warning was incorrectly given, it still applied. You had four edits that day, no matter how many you had when he warned you. You just got your second warning and it stays that way. Therefore I should only have 1warning. DCM warned me on the 28th july on which I only edited 3 times which is well within the rules. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Can you please explain to me why I should have 2??? --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Because, you have 0 mainspace contributions for the month of November and 2 for October. It is staying in order to add extra instigation to edit the mainspace. MaverickNate 18:45, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou, I shall now be taking this matter to ((u|TTEchidna)} as it is completely unfair what you are suggesting. I want the first warning by DCM to be removed as I didn't break any policy. He made this warning on July 28th when I had only made 3 userspace edits, therefore the warning is illegal, I should only have 1 warning and that is for the error i made today and therefore the first warning from DCM should not be counted. Clearly we are going to keep on disagreeing so we shall have to take this matter to TTE to settle the matter. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Take a closer look at the userspace policy page. Making three edits everyday is also a break of the rules. The second warning stays. MaverickNate 18:56, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

I have refered the issue to ((u|TTEchidna)) who I trust to make the right judgement. At the time of the warning it was the only edits I had made EVER, so how could that count as 3 edits on multiple days. And I leave big gaps in between days, there has only been 1 occasion when it there were 2 consecutive days. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

It was not the only edits ever. Have you forgotten about your previous account? MaverickNate 19:04, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Ha! That account never made a single edit to the user space, check it! your point is moot. the first 3 edits I ever made were on this account, and I was warned after them for making more than 3 edits , even though I had only made 3, therefore the warning should not count, as I followed the rules exactly. The warning was given out of error and should not count. TTE will deal with this im sure. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Actually, it did. Notice that page I deleted earlier? That was the rule break I was talking about. You edited that page over the limit. Iand It doesn't show up because I deleted it, but it is still there. So, quit complaining and edit the mainspace for once. MaverickNate 19:12, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

If you bring it back, will it bring back the edit history? Id like to know if I have broken the rules, so deleting it deleted the only clue we have to sort out this mess, if I did edit that more than 3 times a day, I am for to have the warning, however I would like you to prove it, before I am punished/ --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

One: you aren't punished til warning four. Two: you are about to be punished for editing talk pages too much, so I'd go do some mainspace edits if I were you before you are blocked. MaverickNate 19:19, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Back of a Japanese Card

Do you feel it would be a good addition to Pokémon Trading Card Game to have a scan of the reverse side of a Japanese language card? If so, I have a few in some of my earlier sets that I could scan. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 22:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

we dont have one already? im not Mav, but, i can say that we should. theyre completely different. i know, ive got a bazillion Jap cards. i dont want them anymore! you want them? take them! also, if you can, get the back of the Vending Cards too. if im not mistaken, theyre different as well. -- MAGNEDETH 22:35, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
We don't actually. I'll get to scanning it soon. Sure I'll take them, now where did I put that teleporter... I don't have any Vending Cards, sadly, I just main sets. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 22:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I think it'd be a good idea, aye. I have one of the newer card backs, too, which I could scan in if you haven't got one of them. Cipher (Talk) 22:46, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Although, that said, I wouldn't categorise it in the Bulbapedia like the English card back, just in the Archives. 22:47, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
My Japanese cards end at Neo Destiny. Image uploaded & added. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 22:55, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Japanese card numbering

I've been jostling with this for a while. I think I have come up with a reasonable solution. For those cards that share the same set article in English and Japanese, simply "set" is left in the box and the numbers are put in under "English Card No." and "Japanese Card No.". However if they share different articles (such as a main set and a half deck), the two should be separated into two blocks for English and Japanese (without an empty row divider).

I came to this when I was doing the e-card trainers, originally separating them into two blocks, but then I thought since for example: cards from e-card 2 & 3 share the same article as Aquapolis, was there really much point in adding extra rows.

The main issue comes with cards released in a lot of sets. The only one I have made a complete list for is Energy Switch, and it looks a little... excessive; but it is one thing I think needs to be done to bring English and Japanese TCG stuff together. I'd like to know what you think.

BTW, I also seemed to have missed all of these comments flying around recently with my head buried in translations. If these comments were nuclear warheads, I'm sure all of us here would have regressed to something that jabs things with pointy sticks and dragging our wives along the ground back to our rocky homes... all because some can't read stuff in a big yellow box. ~~nuva-kal 15:18, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

I like the idea, but I don't like the approach that you took on the energy switch page. It is a good idea to implement, but can we wait and finalize everything first? We have opened a lot of work for the TCG pages and I would like to try to get some if not most of it done before we open another, is that okay with you? It is a good idea, one that I have been thinking about as well, but I think the mass-reprinted trainer card display of information needs a new format. MaverickNate 23:15, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
That's fine. Perhaps when it is time to move to that stage, a show/hide section may be better for Japanese-only reprints. ~~nuva-kal 00:17, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I hate show/hide just as much as I hate galleries. I think that it would be better if we just did English on the left and Japanese releases on the right, similar to the main expansion pages. MaverickNate 01:17, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Aw, but expandable's fun. TTEchidna 01:20, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Abilities

If they can't possibly have another ability, then leave it alone. If its unconfirmed, then fine put unknown. But for like Paul's Torterra and Weavile, they can only have one ability, and Pokemon HAVE to have an ability, so if they can only have 1 ability, like with the grass starters with overgrow, then they have to have it, got it? Happizelpom 03:55, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh, so you yell at me when I finish for Politoed666, a EB member, but you completely leave him alone. I see how it is.... But anyway, it needs to be confirmed through words in the anime MaverickNate 03:58, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, everybody has to yell at the mere admin, EB members, scary! Seriously though, as Mav has said it needs to be confirmed through dialogue in the anime. Data from the games just doesn't cut it. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 04:01, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't yelling, or saying it in a mean way. And I have no idea what politoed666 was/is doin. I mean I'm just sayin that there cant be a pokemon with no ability, so each pokemon has to have an ability, and if they can only have one then its pretty obvious what it is. Happizelpom 04:04, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm siding on Happizelpom on this one. I mean, look, Moves are one thing, but the games data about abilities with pokémon are absolute even to the anime (otherwise, They would have given it an ability that's not achieved in the games by the start of AG at least.). So, the single abilities (or in the case of pokémon like Giratina, where they have multiple forms and a different ability per form, double), can stay. Double abilities (that is, abilities that are either one or the other for one pokémon), on the other hand, can wait until confirmation. Weedle Mchairybug 04:37, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
PS. Politoed666, I'm going to state this, since I now know you are behind this, and I know you will eventually enter this discussion. If you want to eliminate abilities, regardless of whether it's the only ones the pokémon can have in the games (a common sense logic), we should also eliminate ANY wins Misty had with Psyduck with the exceptions of ones where she explicitly says "Psyduck I choose you!", since those wins weren't legit, since she never even chose Psyduck (she either chose Staryu or Starmie [before it got the boot, i mean.].). Heck, we also shouldn't count Pikachu's fight against Kadabra either, since Ash also didn't "Choose" Pikachu for the round (Pikachu only volunteered, Ash never said "Pikachu, I choose you!"). So, what will it be? save the things you might count as wins, and reinstate the abilities to all single ability pokemon, or destroy them all just to keep them out? The Choice is yours. Weedle Mchairybug 04:52, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Or just get a grip, and accept what you aren't going to change. Those two things have nothing related to each other, you are just trying to cause a debate when I am trying to upload card images with that stupid recent messages ticker tape popping up at the top of every page. Now, they must be stated in the anime in dialogue, end of story. MaverickNate 04:54, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Wrong, they have plenty of relation to each other. You see, in regards to both examples, none explicitly stated that they chose that pokémon in the anime, just as they didn't explicitly state that a pokémon has this ability in the anime (even if it's painfully obvious it's the only ability they can ever have). Now do you see the similarities?! Besides, that part wasn't directed towards you, it was directed to Politoed666 (I only posted it here, because I couldn't find the thing in regards to it on Politoed666's talkpage). Weedle Mchairybug 05:02, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, remember what I said about the ticker tape? Anyway, Poli and I rarely agree on anything, but this is one of the things we do. Who ever said that the anime uses the games canonical abilities? They could make a whole new one, they have done it with attacks, they can do it with abilities. And how do you know that the anime will only have that one ability for that one Pokémon? I know of a certain Swampert who has the ability Storm Drain, even though only the Shellos and Finneon line can in the games. Like I said, it needs to be stated, because it isn't known otherwise. What bout when Gen 5 rolls around, and these single ability Pokémon suddenly have two possibilities? They need to be stated, end of story, sign, print, publish. MaverickNate 05:08, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you! Chocolate wouldn't be willing to agree with me! ht14 15:29, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Of course, it wouldn't be the case if he signed his works as "HIROKI" or something like that, but he DOES NOT. If we referred to every single VA, Illustrator or Nintendo Employee by his first name, we would disambiguate like... a hundred names. We would have to make tons of UNNECCESSARY disambigs. I say, unneccessary because NO ONE refers to such people just by his name. It's just making disambigs for the sake of making disambigs and it does not make Bulbapedia any more informative. The first name for a VA/Illustrator/Nintendo Employee can ONLY be an addition to an existing disambig, but it is NOT a REASON TO MAKE a disambig. --Maxim 21:18, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

while i think Maxim needs to calm down, i agree with him. a disambig because of a TCG illustrator's first name is pretty unnecessary. -- MAGNEDETH 21:25, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
SIMMA DOWN, NAH! I agree, actually... --ニョロトノ666 00:45, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
I think the whole TCG illustrators thing needs sorting out anyway, but yeah, no point in having a first-name disambiguation for an illustrator. Cipher (Talk) 11:20, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Image revert on Hamilton

Because I'm smarter than the avergae bear. I'm looking at the upload page, and it says JPEG for photographic images [and] PNG for diagrams, sprites, icons and other simpler images. A screenshot is a photographic image. Not to mention, the image of the PNG keeps vanishing. It's there for a second after it loads, and then vanishes. And if it's happening to one user, it's happening, or will happen, to others users. The PNG is a bigger file size, the JPEG is smaller, they both have the same quality. ...Reasons to not switch it and delete an image file named "Hiroki?"? Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 04:31, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

That message you found is incorrect. pngs are preferred for anime and game screenshots, because of how mush higher quality they are. As for the image disappearing, that was all due to the question mark, images don't work correctly if they have weird characters in the names. That's why no one should name anything with ♀ or ♂. They simply do not work. I also thought ahead and renamed the Hiroki? image under a different name in order to keep quality up and have it work all the time. MaverickNate 04:44, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Trust me, the mystery of the disappearing ???-type Arceus taught us a lot about just what does and does not work in filenames on the Archives. Once it was discovered it was the question marks causing the problems, the experts now know all about just what to avoid in filenames, as well as how to take care of images that contain weird characters. --Shiningpikablu252 04:51, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Next time, you really need to see all of the edit you've reverting. Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe and Arcanine are available in Platinum, and by reverting all of my edits, you removed their Platinum locations. Chocolate 02:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I did see the entire edit. I thought that you needed to put it in again! MaverickNate 02:55, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
You could've made it easier by just adding the links back without using Rollback. Chocolate 02:55, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
That wouldn't be easy for me! I am always looking out for what is easiest for me, and guess what! I did what was easiest for me. If you decided to put good edits with bad edits, that is your own fault. Expect both to be reverted whenever they are rollbacked. MaverickNate 02:58, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Origins

Why are you changing them into sub-headers of trivia like they were before? It's already been decided to seperate them from the trivia section. Chocolate 03:33, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

It was definitly NOT decided on by anyone. You just thought better than everyone and decided a style change that no one agreed with you on! Like we told you before, style changes need to be brought to a style editor, not just do it yourself. In this case, you were completely wrong and needed to be undone. MaverickNate 03:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
But origins have NOTHING to do with trivia. Chocolate 03:37, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
As stated before by TTE, origin and name origin are just guesses by us, therefore, they fall under trivia. MaverickNate 03:42, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
They are not just guesses. It's as clear as the sky that Stunky and Skuntank are based on a skunks, and that Beedrill and Vespiquen are based on a bees, and that Beautifly and Butterfree are based on butterflies, and so on... Chocolate 03:45, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Maybe to you, but that is still opinion and speculation, which causes it to be a section of trivia, not one all of its own. MaverickNate 03:50, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
But it's obvious that Beedrill is based on a bee. Where else would the stinger come from? Chocolate 03:51, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
No it isn't. It is an agreed-upon fan opinion. Not fact. MaverickNate 03:53, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
But Beedrill wouldn't have a stinger and wings if it wasn't based on a bee, because only bees have both of those, right? Chocolate 03:54, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Wasps, for a counter-example of the top of my head. But anyway, it is fan based opinion, and belongs as a subset under trivia. End of story, it isn't going to change. MaverickNate 03:56, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but wasps are similar to bees. But if Beedrill was based on a wasp and not a bee, it would probably have the name "Waspdrill" or something like that. But the fact that it has "bee" in its name and has the same features as a bee is pretty much what automatically tells you that it's based on a bee. Chocolate 04:00, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Fan based speculation. MaverickNate 04:02, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
How is it speculation? Every Pokémon fan that I know agrees with it, and a fact is something that absolutely everyone agrees with. And why do you keep changing the indents on our comments? Chocolate 04:05, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
What argument number is this? Number 254? Kidding...seriously though, are you saying each human is the same idea!? To other animals, we may be just grouped together the same way we're treating other animals. Also, the translations may be very loose about it. ht14 04:12, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Kuki's edits

Why are you reverting all of his edits? He added the {{Cleanup}} tag to those articles because the tag says "Please make it conform to Bulbapedia's norms." The party templates are a norm, and the articles he tagged don't have the party templates. Chocolate 20:46, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I know they don't but that isn't the way to go about doing it. Instead of adding the clean-up template for other people to do the work to articles that are already highly better than others, he should learn how to do the templates himself, and not expect someone else to do it for him. Those articles are some of the better ones here, and that template implies that they aren't. There should either be a list in the userspace or done as they are seen, not putting that damn template on. MaverickNate 20:50, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Then whats the point of those Templates if you wont let anyone use them. and he doesnt have to learn how to do it himself, if he wants to leave it for someone else to do thats perfectly fine. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

The Murkrow Talk Page

...Why did you delete that Murkrow talk page? The picture is in Japanese, and either the page needs the template for a Japanese-only card or it needs an image of the card in English. The only cards on that are supposed to be Japanese are the ones that don't have English versions. I find it odd to be having this conversation with an admin, you definitely know vastly more about this site than I... LordArceus 01:28, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I do know more about this site than you, and so much more about the TCG apparently. What makes you think that English cards need english images? That has never been said anywhere and is the complete opposite of what is supposed to happen. The only reason we have the image is for the artwork, Nothing more. All cards use the same template, there is no difference for Japanese and English cards. Also, it doesn't matter what language the card is in, the card attacks are right there on the page. I don't know how you got this impression, but it is clearly wrong. MaverickNate 01:34, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I got the impression from not having seen one other non-Japanese-exclusive card with Japanese text, but apparently they're out there. In any case, I now feel foolish for hoping you wouldn't use my comment about you knowing more to insinuate I'm an idiot. LordArceus 01:37, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Where is this consensus?

In the talk page I didn't see anything concrete, plus people seemed to have an issue with the name "Literal Ghost". The vibe I got was that it needed some changing. To me, the title makes it look like that's its actual name or something. Plus, my idea fits with the other kinds of pages, like, "Gengar (Pokémon)" and "Shadow Ball (move)" with that categorizing at the end. Plus since in the game it's just called "Ghost", wouldn't it make sense to just call it "Ghost" and then put a parenthesis tag at the end to clarify what it is? ~Toastypk - Loom. 02:53, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

We hare talking on AIM as a giant Bulbapedia group. When you moved this, this became a topic. TTE says Literal ghost sounds better; Magnedeth said he wanted it moved back as well as Kogoro and I. So, consensus was Literal ghost. MaverickNate 02:56, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Huh... I really didn't really see that much discussion about the name, it was just a few names thrown around and nobody seemed to really like anything in particular. It was like that for months and I figured I should try to do something to it.
Plus I'll admit, I'm not aware of this AIM group... ~Toastypk - Loom. 03:00, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Yellow sprites

The current Yellow sprites need work. Most of them face the wrong direction and their size is incorrect. Fixing this is no big issue. However, the real thing I am asking is that I see no reason for the images to be in .GIF format, and therefore I've fixed the sprites to be in .PNG format. I went to Archives and I saw that somebody has tried to change this thing before, but you've rejected the idea. If I upload the .PNG's first, then replace all possible links to .GIF's to .PNG ones, and then the .GIF images are deleted, it'd work perfectly. What do you think? UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 00:08, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Did you convert them, or did you get the sprites all new as png? (keep the extension lowercase please). And all I was doing was relaying a message from TTE. But we need to know if they were converted or gotten all new...so, which were they? MaverickNate 00:11, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
They're converted from the ones already on the site and fixed to face left and be 56x56. And yeah, extensions are lowercase, I just thought they'd be more visible here :P If it's a problem that they're converted, I can also try to rip them via an emulator. Anyways, it's getting late here so if I'll do anything, it'll be tomorrow. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 00:18, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, how should I do it? I have about six hours time tonight. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:23, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Rip them. They always look so much better when they are ripped as png.s and not converted. MaverickNate 18:38, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay :P *goes to seek for wild encounter modifier GS cheat* UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:59, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

we were talking about Shinies and he called me an Asshole, can you do something about this, it was on his talk page - unsigned comment from Guardian (talkcontribs)

That isn't true. Optimatum did. Bulbapedian - Talk 15:38, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
True, I did. But it wasn't an insult. It was my way of saying "OI EDIT THE MAINSPACE AND STOP PICKING FIGHTS WITH DCM". ΘρtιmαtumTalk 15:42, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

NO, I dont want Opti blocked, he got blocked last time, I dont want him blocked, hes funny, if necessary I will say it was a private joke, DONT BLOCK OPTI (please) - unsigned comment from Guardian (talkcontribs)

I wasn't planning on blocking anyone. Just, everyone needs to forget these conversations, because they got rediculously out of hand and out of control. Just get out of usertalk and edit the mainspace without reverting each other. Leave guardian alone and leave each other alone. Just try to get along, okay? MaverickNate 15:49, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Tag battle partners.

Just wanting an opinion here.. but the five tag battle trainers in Diamond and Pearl. Chocolate insists that their party templates should have the colour of their outfit.. Whereas, I feel they should have the colour of the stat their teams are based around. Which do you think would be more fitting? Gywall Talk 20:16, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Team colors please. Those colors actually have something to do with something Pokémon.Having them as the same colors as clothes makes it seem more of a fashion statement. Team colors are more appropriate. MaverickNate 20:19, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
By team colours, I assume the stat colours in this case. Correct? Gywall Talk 20:21, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
If type colors is too shady to choose, and if the trainer has a dominate stat among their Pokémon, I don't see a problem with having stat colors and, as I said, I think it would be appropriate. MaverickNate 20:22, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
But using colours that match their appearance represents how they look. Chocolate (Chat with Me) 20:39, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
But what would you do if a person didn't have a primary color, and wore, for exmple, green, orange, and blue in equal numbers? The team has no common type, but, for example, have extremely high Special Attack stats. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 20:41, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Japanese

Crap! Sorry, I just keep forgetting. Anyway, I really have no idea what the Japanese name for Cacophony is, and the Japanese partner doesn't seem to have it anywhere... Sorry.

I'm not sure what "アソビズム宣言" means..."宣言" (sengen) is easy, it means "declaration," "proclamation," et cetera. "アソビズム" (asobizumu) I'm not so sure about. From what I can tell, it's a combination of asobi ("playing") and rizumu ("rhythm").--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 06:43, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon Card Game DPt3

Just to clarify now, so that we don't need to have this discussion about the "most accurate" name when the time comes to make the page, it's Beat the Frontier. I know PokéBeach says Pulse of the Frontier, but 拡張パック「フロンティアの鼓動」 translates to Expansion Pack "Beat the Frontier", like the other sources are reporting. Cipher (Talk) 23:30, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Okay, scratch that, apparently it's "beat" as in "heartbeat", as in "pulse". I'll check again tomorrow. My Japanese fails. XD Cipher (Talk) 23:50, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay, whatever you say. MaverickNate 23:56, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
No need. I tried translating it differently and it translated to "frontier heartbeats", so Pulse of the Frontier is good. Ignore me, I'm very tired and have had a bad weekend. XD Cipher (Talk) 00:01, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Pssst.

Kinda overboard on Chocoboy's page. Tone it back by a lot, if you could, or I might have to bring the or else machine into it.

About the Images

My Computer saves all images as PNG's not png's so that may be a problem.--FF(edits-talk) 05:48, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Not be a problem. Just remember to change the destination file name from having the .PNG extension, to .png extension before confirming the upload and it will have the proper extension. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 05:56, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

No.

It's not correct. Tell me, what the hell do they have to do with a real-life club? You're just taking Kogoro's side because she's "nicer" but being biased doesn't help the truth that you're lying. Of course "Daisuki Club" is a correct romanisation, but the statement that their name come from real-life Pokémon Daisuki Club is FALSE. --Maxim 13:21, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Who cares that they're both the same. I don't see how a class would be named after a real-life club while there is an in-game one which is OLDER. I don't understand your logic. Name is the same but the thing is different. Unprotect the page and restore my edits. NOW! You're just doing it because you're biased. --Maxim 17:13, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Knew it. You're simply biased. Otherwise, you wouldn't be ignoring me. --Maxim 17:57, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey

Since when Happy Mask Man's and Urutapu's words are law? --Maxim 15:29, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Since they have shown background of being able to translate Japanese and have both confirmed the information on the page, and then you, who has never shown any translating background, saying that both of these respectable translators are wrong. That is why thy are currently more believable than you. MaverickNate 15:34, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
WHAT? They translated the name correctly but the conclusions that the name comes from real-life club was a FALSE conclusion. The fact that they know Japanese does not mean they have to know what the name is derived from, especially that there are two different clubs of the same name. The translation is indeed right, the explanation is NOT. And by saying that I can't translate, you're just offending me (and lying). I put lot of Japanese names and translations here. Just say it, you're biased against me, so you refuse to believe me. --Maxim 15:37, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
See? You've got no arguments against me. Knowing how to translate the name =/= Knowing what is the name derived from. I'm sure that HMM and Urutapu did not consider that the name is derived from in-game Pokémon Fan Club (maybe they did not know that the club is named so in Japanese). And the trainers of that class state themselves to be the members of the club. So, don't refuse to believe me just because "more trustable translators" said different things. They are just people, they make mistakes. And I'm here to correct their mistakes. I translated tons of things, so don't insist that I have no idea. Say goodbye to your bias and restore my edits. --Maxim 15:47, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh, anyway, Maverick. If I were Archaic, would you still revert my edits like that? --Maxim 16:00, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Archaic doesn't edit anymore, but I have reverted evkl when I thought his edits were not correct. MaverickNate 16:02, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Ah, true. Archaic really wasn't the best example. TTE would be much better. Hmmm... I can recall reverting Urutapu. And Kenji-girl, I think. --Maxim 16:07, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
