Recalling her nightmarish past, Green falls to her knees. Will and Karen, her former colleagues, continue to taunt and mock her - they reveal that Silver, who Green thought had sent to a safe place, is being held hostage by them. Will has his Xatu split a bush to reveal Silver and his Sneasel being pinned to a tree. They crash to the ground right in front of her.

Silver reveals to Green that his Sneasel used Thief to steal her Abra's Flower Mail just before it teleported him earlier. The Flower Mail contained a map of the forest, and thus he followed. Green, now flooding her face with tears, apologizes for leaving Silver alone and not knowing that he was taking orders from Lance. Silver, after one last confession, slips into unconsciousness, causing Green to cry even louder as she recalls her memories with him.

Eventually, Green turns towards Will and Karen with a glare, and stuns them when she dodges an attack from Ho-Oh without even flinching. Green proudly declares herself free of ornithophobia, stating that she had to work hard on overcoming her fear in order to win a battle against her past. She holds up the three Poké Balls with which she conquered her phobia with, and releases the Pokémon inside: the legendary birds of Kanto. She climbs onto Moltres and they fly towards the Ilex Forest shrine. Knowing they could not let her near it, Will and Karen get on Lugia and Ho-Oh respectively to chase. Will soon notices that Silver is clinging onto Lugia's tail and challenging him to a battle.
