Jolteon (Japanese: サンダース Thunders) is an Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee by Thunderstone.

Biology

Jolteon is the result of exposing an Eevee to the radiation of a Thunderstone.

Physiology

Jolteon is a Fennec Fox-like Pokémon with a very short tail, surrounded by a fringe of spikes on its rear, and yellow fur that has the sharpness of needles (Glaceon shares this same trait, but it's not as obvious). Jolteon also has a white, spiky collar, and pink paw pads.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Jolteon can use the same attacks that Eevee could use, with the addition of the ability to wield electrical attacks, as well as Double Kick and Pin Missile. For gathering power for electric attacks, it accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere, charges power when its mood changes, or amplifies the weak electric charge of its cells with the static electricity of its electrically-charged needle fur. As a fully evolved Pokémon, Jolteon can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.

Behavior

Jolteon are sensitive Pokémon and easily become sad or angry. Every time its mood changes, it charges power. If startled or angered, it can shoot out bristles that are sharp enough to pierce opponents. Every hair on its body starts to stand sharply on end if it becomes charged with electricity, and the negatively charged ions in its fur create a constant sparking noise. Its fur also stands on end if it is angry or startled.

Habitat

Jolteon usually are found near power plants. Due to the need of a Thunderstone to evolve from Eevee, not many are found.

Major Appearances

Jolteon first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers, under the ownership of Sparky.

In Get Along, Little Pokémon, Ethan used a Jolteon as a "sheep dog" of sorts. Whenever any of Ethan's Magnemite tried to escape, Jolteon would use Thunder Wave to lure them back.

Jolteon was also seen under the ownership of one of the Kimono Sisters in Trouble's Brewing and Espeon Not Included.

Minor Appearances

Ash battled against a Jolteon in the Pokémon League Entrance Exam in The Ultimate Test.

Jolteon is one of the Electric-type Pokémon that was seen in the lake with crystal in As Clear As Crystal.

Jolteon made a small cameo in the beginning of Giratina and the Sky Warrior together with an Eevee and the other six Eeveelutions.

Trivia

  • Jolteon is the lightest Eeveelution and is tied with Glaceon for the shortest. It also has the highest Speed base stat of the Eeveelutions with a base speed of 130.
    • This makes Jolteon the smallest Eeveelution.
  • Jolteon is the third fastest non-legendary Pokémon after Ninjask and Electrode, tied with Crobat and Aerodactyl.
  • Jolteon is the only Eeveelution without an obvious tail. However, in the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga, it is shown to have a stubby tail under its spikes.
  • Jolteon shares the same species name with Electrike. They are both known as Lightning Pokémon.

Origin

It has traits of porcupines, coyotes, foxes and cats. It may also be inspired by the raiju.

Name origin

Jolteon's name is derived from jolt. The -eon suffix, common to all Eevee evolutions, comes from Eevee's prototype English name and possibly refers to the ending suffix of evolution itself. Its Japanese name is a corruption of thunder, which happens to be Zapdos's Japanese name.
